Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

You sound good and worked up, Uncle Michael! Hope you've had a chance to relax a little after your trip to NJ. It took me a couple days to wind down.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/27/15 12:13pm Uncle Michael:

Charlie, I took a day off on Tuesday. It was just what the doctor ordered.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/27/15 12:13pm Uncle Michael:

Henh henh... he said "abutment".
Avatar    Fri. 3/27/15 12:18pm Tusalava:

I think "pill" is in Janet's job description, and honestly should be her entire job title.

I am as worked up as one can be while grossly sick.

I am actively trying to figure out how to discreetly place a switch and fuse on a taco, which is way more ambitious than staring at the ceiling.
Avatar Fri. 3/27/15 12:20pm Gary:

Loving this Hawaiian track
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 3/27/15 12:21pm pacific standard simon:

I think you could probably rig some watch batteries with a pressure switch to blow the taco when it's picked up.
Avatar    Fri. 3/27/15 12:23pm Tusalava:

Oo, yes! I do have several watch batteries around. I like the idea of a weighted trigger.

The second verse of Suzanne, the one about Jesus, has thrilled me since I was a teen.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 3/27/15 12:57pm joe:

Quote given as recently as summer of 2014 by Tylor Hanson:
Taylor: "There is not a release date, but we are writing. In fact I was just emailing back and forth with James Iha and Adam Schlesinger about writing songs. The thing about Tinted Windows is, it kind of sits out here almost unattacked, it doesn't have to be released at a certain time. And we have always kind of enjoyed that, when there is a record done, there will be a record and it will come out. We are, what we are doing right now, we are doing writing and working with a lot of different people, so there... it's actually a good time to be working on that music. Hopefully there will be another Tinted Windows...... music."

Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/27/15 1:07pm Uncle Michael:

This is an outtake from my marathon premium.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/27/15 1:07pm Uncle Michael:

Gatton and Emmons sounds like head-cutting time to me.
Avatar Fri. 3/27/15 1:08pm Lane Steelpicker:

I think Sibert used a straight major tuning.
Speedy was really good. Yes, he leaned on gimmicks, but he could pick straight too
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/27/15 1:09pm Uncle Michael:

This is George Benson on the guitar.
Avatar Fri. 3/27/15 1:10pm Lane Steelpicker:

Danny and Buddy cut it faster than 1 bar/second. Like they was double parked and saw the meter maid
Avatar Fri. 3/27/15 1:12pm Lane Steelpicker:

Best Jack could find on short notice, I guess ;-)
Avatar Fri. 3/27/15 1:12pm chromaphone:

Looked up Sibert on net and article says Chris Scruggs learned steel from him. Wow straight major, must've done a lot of single note stuff I suppose.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/27/15 1:14pm Parq:

Sadly, explosions are on my mind today. I used to love to shop in a Japanese toy store in the East Village that specialized in wind-up toys. It moved elsewhere some years ago. Yesterday, the restaurant underneath its former locale exploded. In this pic you can see the old second-floor storefront, literally a solid block of fire.

Not so much single note, but harmonized scales with bar slants. Played it like an electric Dobro
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/27/15 1:17pm Parq:

As of now, the entire quadrant of that block, going back three buildings from the corner in both directions, is rubble.
gothamist.com...
Avatar Fri. 3/27/15 1:18pm chromaphone:

Neat. I have never played dobro... one day. So are those stacked triads what is called straight major or is it more of Duane Allman kind of thing? Sorry for all the steel talk peeps!
  Fri. 3/27/15 1:18pm Stanley:

You don't have to speed Wanda up to make her exciting (whoa there Stanley). Greetings UM and everyone.
Avatar Fri. 3/27/15 1:19pm Lane Steelpicker:

Parq, pics of yesterday's bridge collapse in Texas showed a detonation-free explosion. A trailer full of freight went from 67 to stopped in 5 feet. Front bulkhead and sleeper went boom
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/27/15 1:20pm Parq:

Eerily, the one thing that's still standing is a steel frame that formed the window frame of the toy store. I'm sorry to be going on about this, but I am just stunned by it.
Avatar Fri. 3/27/15 1:21pm chromaphone:

I know Wanda has a high voice but was wondering myself if that was sped up.
  Fri. 3/27/15 1:21pm Stanley:

The sweet scent of giraffe?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/27/15 1:21pm Uncle Michael:

That's awful, Parq.

Hey, Stanley!
  Fri. 3/27/15 1:22pm Stanley:

sorry essence
Avatar Fri. 3/27/15 1:23pm Lane Steelpicker:

I don't know Johnny's tuning, I can probably find it. Bluegrass Dobro is GBDGBD. if you wanna talk steel, you can shoot me PM. My only Dobro is an 8 string I got from the guy who used to be in my dad's band....
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/27/15 1:25pm Gaylord Fields:

@chromaphone: No, I've seen Wanda live many a time, and that's her voice. I mean, anything's possible, and we all know that recordings have been sped up since the beginning of recorded sound, but there's no reason to think her vocals were sped up as a matter of course.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/27/15 1:25pm Uncle Michael:

Good to know, Gaylord. I've never had that pleasure.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/27/15 1:26pm Uncle Michael:

My heart goes out to all of those people there
The lose of that area has hit me and my wife pretty hard. I have not really followed up on it this morning as it was very emotional for us. That part of the city has been a huge part of my life for a very long time and became an even bigger part when my wife and I got togeather some 15 years ago. Love Saves the Day, Toy Tokyo and Wowsville were almost weekly visits for us.

@Uncle Michael: She's still a vocal powerhouse, and even though she sometimes may drop in a gospel song or two, she always goes right back into the devil's music.

This post-marathon show has been a showcase of eclecticism done right. Mashing with the stream just added another dimension!
Avatar Fri. 3/27/15 2:41pm Lane Steelpicker:

The current formula is one "legacy", one "behind the scenes" and one kinda newer.
This year's legacy is The Browns,
Grady Martin (one of the best guitar pickers you've never heard of) was the studio/business side,
And the newer act was the Oak Ridge Boys.
Avatar    Fri. 3/27/15 2:43pm hyde:

@Lane oh, huh. I didn't even know that was the formula. I don't have any issues with who they put in, it just makes me crazy that the Stanley Bros aren't!

Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 3/27/15 2:51pm Sean B.:

@UncleMike One Question , I do not remember an album called helpless by sugar....Was that a typo maning the b-side 2 the single "Helpless". Because I never heard that 'Needle Hits E' Tune Before; And I know the second album wasn't entitled "Helpless". This is a pressing matter....Copper Blue WAS/IS the bomb man.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 3/27/15 2:52pm Uncle Michael:
