Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

Avatar Fri. 10/24/14 1:26pm Pedro G.:

Nope, TuneIn only tells me the name of the show and what's scheduled on the stream after: "Now Hinky Dinky Time," "15:00 GTD Radio Stream," "00:00 Radio Stream." Also shows the WF MU dog cow logo. When it hits screen saver mode, the WF MU logo is the only thing showing and it moves positions across the screen.
Avatar Fri. 10/24/14 1:28pm Pedro G.:

For whatever reason, you can't change stations too often on the TuneIn Roku app because the buffering then takes forever or never kicks in.

Avatar Fri. 10/24/14 2:00pm listener james from westwood:

Super-fave from my childhood, this Riley record right here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/24/14 2:01pm pacific standard simon:

Maybe it allows smaller pledges if you've already pledged more than $15.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/24/14 2:01pm Uncle Michael:

Nice pants, Simon. Thanks!
Avatar Fri. 10/24/14 2:03pm listener james from westwood:

One of my few regrets at not having kids: Not having the chance to whistle this while walking into a PTA meeting.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 10/24/14 2:03pm Stevel:

Harper Valley: Short and sweet, like most great songs.
Avatar Fri. 10/24/14 2:04pm listener james from westwood:

(and to be clear: I dig kids; I just knew from early on I wasn't parent material. Much respect to those who are.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/24/14 2:05pm Uncle Michael:

efd, you will want to be here for most of the next set...and so will everyone eolse
Avatar Fri. 10/24/14 2:05pm listener james from westwood:

Wouldn't be anywhere else!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/24/14 2:06pm pacific standard simon:

UM is typing with 45 thumbs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/24/14 2:06pm Uncle Michael:

Aww, thanks James.
Avatar Fri. 10/24/14 2:10pm listener james from westwood:

Esp if it means I hear one of my favorite Cash cuts!
  Fri. 10/24/14 2:10pm Dean:

Ten bucks'll work, too. I think the $15 radio button (pun?) is a nudge. But if you try to do less than ten, you'll get a message indicating ten is the minimum.
Avatar Fri. 10/24/14 2:12pm listener james from westwood:

I imagine this one made its way to the thrift shop or garage sale b/c the previous owner was deceased, b/c who would ever let this record go except from their cold, dead grip?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 10/24/14 2:12pm northguineahills:

Probably my favorite Kris Kristofferson penned song.
  Fri. 10/24/14 2:12pm Dean:

I have a suspicion that one of this world's great ironies is that people who don't think they're parent material are likely the best parent material.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 10/24/14 2:13pm Mike East:

Sunday Morning Coming Down used to get played on repeat on the jukebox at the bar I used work at.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 10/24/14 2:13pm Mike East:

...and I never got sick of it.
Avatar Fri. 10/24/14 2:13pm Doug Schulkind:

Hinky Dinky Time, where there are no guilty pleasures. (But there ARE pleasures who plead nolo contendere.)
Avatar Fri. 10/24/14 2:13pm listener james from westwood:

Holy Christmas, this version of "Don't Think Twice" is great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 10/24/14 2:14pm efd:

dammit when am I supposed to get lunch?!
  Fri. 10/24/14 2:14pm Dean:

So "Don't Think Twice" appears twice on this promo? I guess that's alright.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 10/24/14 2:14pm bobdoesthings:

googled it for you -- Nolo contendere is a legal term that comes from the Latin for "I do not wish to contend." It is also referred to as a plea of no contest.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/24/14 2:14pm pacific standard simon:

DJ copy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/24/14 2:15pm pacific standard simon:

I want to start a band called "The Cleanest Dirty Shirts".
Avatar Fri. 10/24/14 2:15pm listener james from westwood:

Holy got-DAMN, this set!
  Fri. 10/24/14 2:16pm Kris Holmes:

oh snap, love is alright is my JAM!!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 10/24/14 2:16pm drr:

I thought this Hagen Smith was The New Surfsiders giving Dylan the treatment.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/24/14 2:16pm Uncle Michael:

3:00, Evan.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/24/14 2:16pm Uncle Michael:

I was hoping you were still here for this, Kris.
Avatar Fri. 10/24/14 2:17pm listener james from westwood:

@bobdoesthings: First learned that term w/r/t Maryland's one and only Spiro T. Agnew. (Maryland now demands a recount on my use of the possessive.)
Avatar Fri. 10/24/14 2:18pm Doug Schulkind:

@Listener James
As a son of Maryland, I would prefer that you not utter that nattering namebob of negativity.
Avatar Fri. 10/24/14 2:20pm listener james from westwood:

@Doug: S---- A---- is now an effete corpse of impudent globs.
  Fri. 10/24/14 2:21pm Kris Holmes:

yeah, so you say it "Filet" of Soul, the vocal was initially the A side & then the DJs flipped it & the instrumental blew up, spawning like a gazillion Horse answer tracks by not only Nobles but others.
Avatar Fri. 10/24/14 2:21pm listener james from westwood:

UM, I very much do remember Barbara Eden in that special. Hoo boy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 10/24/14 2:24pm drr:

I think this *is* What's On Tonight.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/24/14 2:26pm Brian in UK:

Nice one Uncle. Albert is very little played these days. A good songwriter. For a Brit!!
Avatar Fri. 10/24/14 2:27pm Doug Schulkind:

@LJFW
I grew up not far from a(n essentially) gated community where Agnew lived. It was a suburban tract that extended out from an exclusive country club. All the homeowners in the neighborhood had to sign covenants swearing that they would never sell their home to a black, jew, catholic, etc. etc. etc. I tasted bile every time we drove past the turnoff to that enclave. Which was, sadly, almost daily.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 10/24/14 2:29pm bobdoesthings:

listener james - Westwood nj?? I use to smoke cigarettes and drink coffee as a teenager at The Seville! Which I believe was gone last time I drove through
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 10/24/14 2:33pm northguineahills:

oops, I forgot to check in on Bryce, Thanks for an awesome show, UM, enjoy the weekend!
Avatar Fri. 10/24/14 2:34pm Alex In Illinois:

Undercover angel
  Fri. 10/24/14 2:34pm 23 Wolves:

Wow, I would assume unbeknownst you have played a THIRD song 'covered" by Scooter! I get the feeling you would like hanging out with those guys!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xwQw6_X9hPk
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/24/14 2:34pm Uncle Michael:

See ya, NGH!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/24/14 2:35pm Uncle Michael:

I loved checking out those Scooter tracks the last time. Yes, I had no idea...again.
Avatar Fri. 10/24/14 2:35pm Alex In Illinois:

My younger sister somehow owned a copy of Undercover Angel, which she over played until I took it away from her.
  Fri. 10/24/14 2:36pm Dean:

Whoops. Late to the conversation. Fuck Sprio Agnew.
Avatar Fri. 10/24/14 2:36pm Jeff Golick:

TIME WARP ENGAGED
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/24/14 2:38pm pacific standard simon:

Every week, I imagine northguineahills checking in at Bryce's show by saying something like, Oops, sorry I'm late -- got, uh... waylaid."
  Fri. 10/24/14 2:39pm Syoho:

Mr Mike! Whats up!! I finally tuned it. What fun!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/24/14 2:39pm Uncle Michael:

Heh.
Avatar Fri. 10/24/14 2:39pm Jeff Golick:

...and then he cries UNCLE
Avatar Fri. 10/24/14 2:39pm listener james from westwood:

Doug, Dean: It's never too late to say "Fuck Spiro Agnew."
@Bob: Westwood, NJ indeed! The Seville is indeed gone, replaced by a CVS. It was on the wane for quite some time, even (gasp!) closing for part of the night.
Avatar Fri. 10/24/14 2:40pm ken in denver:

Best Bee Gees song ever.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/24/14 2:40pm Uncle Michael:

Stuart! Eart still leaking?
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/24/14 2:40pm Uncle Michael:

Ears*
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/24/14 2:40pm Brian in UK:

What did the 'T' stand for?
  Fri. 10/24/14 2:40pm Syoho:

Yup
  Fri. 10/24/14 2:41pm Dean:

Beg to differ, ken in denver. Fanny.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/24/14 2:41pm Brian in UK:

Only remember them as Marmalade over here. Just saying.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 10/24/14 2:42pm bobdoesthings:

@listener james... I swear.. I'd bet anything that the no-smoking law in NJ killed a lot of diners... SOOO many people I know would just go and sit in diners for coffee and cigarettes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/24/14 2:42pm pacific standard simon:

@ken in denver - I was going to say something similar.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/24/14 2:42pm Uncle Michael:

I hope you're on the mend, Stuart. I wish I had some banjo music for you today.
Avatar Fri. 10/24/14 2:42pm Alex In Illinois:

I remember the Hudson Brothers, and their Saturday morning TV show.
Avatar Fri. 10/24/14 2:43pm ken in denver:

I actually thought it was the Bee Gees until about 10 years ago.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/24/14 2:43pm Brian in UK:

They were on Elton John's label?
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/24/14 2:43pm pacific standard simon:

Not satisfied with having a B-side, they had to have an A - F-side.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/24/14 2:45pm Brian in UK:

Well done, Uncle. To the kitchen. A cold one might be in order after the show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/24/14 2:46pm pacific standard simon:

If you put rubber bands on a 7" record, you can pluck across the hole and it will sound sort of (not very much) like a banjo.
  Fri. 10/24/14 2:46pm Dean:

A Dutch prog/jazz kinda group, Solution, put out an album, "Cordon Bleu," on EJ's label, too. I think the follow-up was also on Rocket. Weird detour.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/24/14 2:48pm pacific standard simon:

I had that record, Dean! No idea what it sounded like, now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/24/14 2:48pm Brian in UK:

Alvin Stardust died today. Not sure if that means much over there. Formerly Shane Fenton. (that's not real either)
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 10/24/14 2:48pm Mike East:

@bobdoesthings - its true, though people still gotta get their disco fries, and not being able to smoke gets them out of their seats faster. Hanging out milking a bottomless cuppa coffee doesn't make any money for the diner.
  Fri. 10/24/14 2:49pm Max:

Alvin Stardust? The chipmunk?
Avatar Fri. 10/24/14 2:50pm ken in denver:

Cracking my first cold one of the day right now, Brian in UK. Uncle Michael has me day drinking again.
Avatar Fri. 10/24/14 2:50pm KevinfromBayRidge:

Pleasures all mines! Great show. FYI, The Cowsills song you played before was one of my first 45 purchases. And I actually played the B-side!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/24/14 2:51pm pacific standard simon:

Oh good lord, from heaven to hell in one short step.
Avatar Fri. 10/24/14 2:51pm Dominick:

Cheese & crackers!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 10/24/14 2:51pm efd:

I enjoyed that AM-Goldy set. I had "Undercover Angel" with me last week, but needless to say it went unplayed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/24/14 2:51pm Uncle Michael:

whee!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/24/14 2:52pm Uncle Michael:

I reset the balance of the universe for you, Evan.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/24/14 2:52pm Brian in UK:

Yes it was me that had a copy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/24/14 2:53pm Brian in UK:

Correction, there was one in our house.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 10/24/14 2:53pm Stevel:

Pretty sure Dominique joins Classical Gas, comprising part of my earliest (somewhat creepy) radio memories--sitting in the basement waiting for the tornado warning to end, growing up in north Kansas City.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/24/14 2:53pm Brian in UK:

Leapy 1968
Avatar Fri. 10/24/14 2:55pm ken in denver:

I thought I'd just hallucinated this one. But IT WAS REAL.
  Fri. 10/24/14 2:55pm Dean:

@pss: It was a decent record, featuring instrumentals and pop-ish vocal tunes. A lead instrument is an alto saxophone. I had several Solution records before the Great Purge of 1980-something, when I sold a bunch of LPs, dammit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/24/14 2:55pm Uncle Michael:

Some folks put on ABBA but the arrows go straight through.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/24/14 2:55pm Brian in UK:

You brought a smile to my face, Uncle. All the words come tumbling out.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/24/14 2:55pm pacific standard simon:

Michael, I have a picture sleeve single of Hayley Mills doing "Johnny Jingo" b/w "Jeepers Creepers" that you need RIGHT NOW.
Avatar Fri. 10/24/14 2:57pm ken in denver:

Most excellent bargain bins you've got in your town, Uncle Michael.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/24/14 2:58pm Uncle Michael:

Oh, Man...Simon...whoa
Avatar Fri. 10/24/14 3:02pm Doug Schulkind:

GIVE THE DRUMMER RADIO PROGRAMMING ALERT...
Don't forget to tune in next Thursday at noon for the return of Charlie Lewis and Busy Doing Nothing!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/24/14 3:02pm pacific standard simon:

It's real, and not just a Monty Python joke.
Avatar Fri. 10/24/14 3:02pm Jeff Golick:

done dug, UM. THANKS.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/24/14 3:03pm pacific standard simon:

Yay Charlie!
Avatar Fri. 10/24/14 3:03pm listener james from westwood:

UM. always a joy. Well done on the platter-wrasslin'! Have a fine weekend all!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/24/14 3:03pm pacific standard simon:

This had been a massive achievement, UM!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/24/14 3:05pm pacific standard simon:

Dangle the records around your neck, like some cargo cult member!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/24/14 3:05pm Uncle Michael:

Thanks, everyone.
Avatar Fri. 10/24/14 3:06pm Kevlicki:
