Whassup, Gary! I appreciate music bloggers who don't just throw something up with no explanation. (I only have so much harddrive space so I like to know why I should download something.) I don't like having music on digital form, actually. So to really listen to the music I download from blog I usually get together a bunch of albums and burn them on CDs, then I like to make little personal "boxsets" on cardboard and any other material I have on hand. I recommend this for people who need an occupation therapy and want to have a physical object to hold ;)
Avatar 7:53pm

@glenn i love chinese five spice too. i make a chocolate five spice butter cookie that is mighty tasty.
  7:54pm

Thanks, Gabriel! And yes, better to write too much information than not enough. It's there if people want to read it, and if they don't want to read, they don't have to.

@doca man, that is awesome
Avatar 7:56pm
Holly in NC:

@Doug - Backblaze actually looks like a great deal - once finances improve I think I'lll hit you up for your thoughts.

I am noshing on ramp & radish kimchee (made locally this spring, it's the BOMB, on my 2nd to last jar, sniff), olives, flaxseed crackers, sprouted sunflower seeds coated in seaweed powder (courtesy WF bulk aisle, they are also the BOMB), walnuts, & blue cheese. And my daily brazil nut. I know, weird.

@doca, what Hyde said.

Made some seared brussel sprouts w/ crimini mushrooms cooked w/ fired basmati rice, w/ ginger, garlic, onions, fresh basil and cilantro flowers from the garden w/ soy sauce and smoked chilies. Came out pretty darn good!
Avatar 8:01pm
hyde:

@glenn it's essentially just the basic butter cookie from bittman's how to cook everything minus the vanilla, with some melted chocolate mixed in and a half a teaspoon (or maybe 3/4? i don't have my cooking notes here) of five spice powder. occasionally i'll toss in a teaspoon of domaine de canton ginger liqueur for extra kick.

- also: I like copying CDs to lossless MP4s instead of 3s (no worse than the CDs, anyway); bigger files - but large storage just gets cheaper...
Avatar 8:02pm
doca:

@hyde/Holly: Thanks! It's been a while I don't do this, but I need to do it again more often. When I was really a compulsive downloader and had like every record from a lot of jazz labels, I did it constantly. (I lost it all however when I moved, put the boxes aside and then backup-ed the mp3 files on an external hard drive that later went kaputt and I lost everything)

coelacanth:

Gary do you just mean music-related collecting?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:48pm
Gary:

Well, yes, because the idea would be to play music associated with it (it being the collecting). However, if you can somehow work music into the deal, and I can play that music, as well as relate the story, then --yes!
