Welcome back Matt F!
Avatar    Thu. 2/28/13 2:06pm S.A. from S.F.:

Not seeing the GTDR stream link on the playlist page, tho.
Avatar    Thu. 2/28/13 2:06pm Uncle Michael:

Hello drumheads.
  Thu. 2/28/13 2:08pm Mick Jagger:

I'm here! I'm here!
Avatar    Thu. 2/28/13 2:08pm S.A. from S.F.:

Hey, UM -- another round of Kansas memories?
  Thu. 2/28/13 2:08pm Mick Jagger:

OMG you're playing my record!
Avatar Thu. 2/28/13 2:09pm Doug Schulkind:

@S.A. from S.F.
I added that link. Started streamin', keep dreamin'.
Avatar    Thu. 2/28/13 2:09pm Uncle Michael:

Yes...till they drive me to drink.
Avatar    Thu. 2/28/13 2:10pm Uncle Michael:

@S.A> You ever see my buddy Todd Newman play back in those days?
Avatar    Thu. 2/28/13 2:10pm S.A. from S.F.:

Already drinkin' -- Third Shift Band of Brewers Amber Lager.
Avatar    Thu. 2/28/13 2:11pm Matt F:

OMG Mick! Day drinking again! Mick Jaegermeister!
Avatar    Thu. 2/28/13 2:12pm S.A. from S.F.:

Name doesn't ring a bell -- but I didn't stay in touch with anybody there.
Avatar    Thu. 2/28/13 2:13pm S.A. from S.F.:

Phew -- dem's some FUNKY onions!
Avatar    Thu. 2/28/13 2:14pm Matt F:

Not to be confused with spunky onions.
Avatar    Thu. 2/28/13 2:16pm S.A. from S.F.:

Or spanky scallions.
Avatar    Thu. 2/28/13 2:17pm Parq:

I know Matt is hard at work in rehearsals, and I'm glad he took the time to sit down with us. Charlie, chicken soup.
Avatar    Thu. 2/28/13 2:17pm Uncle Michael:

I'm up for a Vidalia Bacchanalia.
Avatar    Thu. 2/28/13 2:18pm S.A. from S.F.:

Be sure to wear a ramp in your hair...
Avatar    Thu. 2/28/13 2:19pm Uncle Michael:

Queue/cue the Susan Christie...
Avatar    Thu. 2/28/13 2:20pm Matt F:

Oh God Parq, I have to learn so many stupid songs...
Avatar Thu. 2/28/13 2:21pm Doug Schulkind:

It took me an embarrassingly long time to realize that the label name "Hip-O" was a none-too-subtle dig at Rhino. Given that the label iconography was a drawing of an actual hippopotamus, you really have to wonder...
Avatar    Thu. 2/28/13 2:21pm Carmichael:

Was that Fred Smith in the Sonics band, or am I being too literal?

My people were fair and had ramps in their hair ...
Avatar    Thu. 2/28/13 2:22pm S.A. from S.F.:

The guitar Fred Smith, not the bass Fred Smith, yes.
Avatar    Thu. 2/28/13 2:22pm Uncle Michael:

My label "Hip Eponymous" will be a none-too-subtle dig at Hip-O.
Avatar    Thu. 2/28/13 2:23pm Matt F:

Doug- Took me a long time too. Like, until right now. Cmichael- Fred "Sonic" Smith, the MC5 guy, not the television bassist. Also was married to Patti Smith, just to make things more confusing.
Avatar    Thu. 2/28/13 2:23pm S.A. from S.F.:

@UM - HA!
Avatar    Thu. 2/28/13 2:24pm Uncle Michael:

Of course, for that gag to really work...I'll have to change my name to Hip Eponymous, too.
Avatar    Thu. 2/28/13 2:24pm Carmichael:

Yes, the guitar guy, thanks.
Avatar    Thu. 2/28/13 2:25pm S.A. from S.F.:

@Matt - I don't think the Hoof & Mouth has ever gotten sufficient credit for the sheer volume and weight of the dumb songs they have to learn.
Avatar Thu. 2/28/13 2:26pm Doug Schulkind:

@Uncle Michael
You're already hip. Now be Hip.
Avatar    Thu. 2/28/13 2:28pm Uncle Michael:

Thanks Doug. I'll have to find a proper context in which to be Hip.
Avatar    Thu. 2/28/13 2:29pm Carmichael:

I'll call myself Hype, and we'll have a duo.
Avatar    Thu. 2/28/13 2:29pm S.A. from S.F.:

Playing Susan Christie on your own show would work. ;)
Avatar    Thu. 2/28/13 2:31pm Uncle Michael:

You think I haven't? Forfend.
Avatar    Thu. 2/28/13 2:34pm Uncle Michael:

Speaking of St. Louis Blues...I'm thinking Billy Ekstine. Yay or nay?
  Thu. 2/28/13 2:36pm drr:

It's Burke's Law!
Avatar Thu. 2/28/13 2:37pm glenn:

Do the Jagger stagger...with swagger.
  Thu. 2/28/13 2:44pm drr:

Damn. dude, bring my records and my taste in music back....
Avatar    Thu. 2/28/13 2:45pm Carmichael:

Just don't say "Howard" ... Whoops, oh crap!! <chug chug chug ...>

Swamp Dogg is the MAN!
Avatar    Thu. 2/28/13 2:46pm S.A. from S.F.:

Mmm, was away, making meatloaf sliders for lunch (and changing beers).
Avatar Thu. 2/28/13 2:47pm glenn:

i've been thinking of making honey slides. neil young seems to swear by them.
Avatar    Thu. 2/28/13 2:48pm Uncle Michael:

what are those?
Avatar Thu. 2/28/13 2:49pm glenn:

take a bunch of weed, put it in a frying pan, cook it until it smokes. pour honey on it, let it cool down. voila. honey slides.
Avatar    Thu. 2/28/13 2:51pm S.A. from S.F.:

I wouldn't advise treating the expensive high quality weed we have around these days like that.
Avatar    Thu. 2/28/13 2:51pm Matt F:

Who don't love the Dogg? Nobody, that's who!
Avatar    Thu. 2/28/13 2:52pm Uncle Michael:

Humboldt Sliders are a no-go?
Avatar    Thu. 2/28/13 2:56pm Carmichael:

Oklahoma Dirt Weed Sliders just doesn't have the same ring to it.
Avatar    Thu. 2/28/13 3:01pm fleep:

Thanks for a great show, Matt
Avatar    Thu. 2/28/13 3:01pm S.A. from S.F.:

The Phillip Walker band had those little tiny burn holes in their speakers that you get from smoking stuff while sitting on top of them.
Avatar    Thu. 2/28/13 3:01pm Uncle Michael:

I'm glad people are rethinking the 'LO.
  Thu. 2/28/13 3:02pm Mick Jagger:

I have played ELO on el radio. Shamelessly, absolutely.
Avatar Thu. 2/28/13 3:02pm glenn:

speaking of merle (and weed), rumour has it he wrote okie from muskogee on his tour bus, getting high under a blanket with roger miller.
Avatar    Thu. 2/28/13 3:03pm S.A. from S.F.:

Not me, UM.
Avatar    Thu. 2/28/13 3:07pm Matt F:

Always liked the Move, but ELO not so much... until something happened recently. No, it didn't involve weed. I'll explain at the next break.
Avatar    Thu. 2/28/13 3:10pm S.A. from S.F.:

Damn, gotta split early another moving company just called to say they were going to be early for their appointment. See ya on the radio!
Avatar    Thu. 2/28/13 3:10pm Uncle Michael:

See ya, homey.
Avatar Thu. 2/28/13 3:14pm glenn:

ya know, punk rock happened, and for some reason a LOT of people thought that meant you couldn't like anything you liked before.
Avatar    Thu. 2/28/13 3:15pm Uncle Michael:

I've recovered from being cool. Being cool was the lamest thing I ever did.
Avatar    Thu. 2/28/13 3:22pm ndbob:

one of the many great records on the Autumn label
  Thu. 2/28/13 3:28pm jH:

I would prefer the tribute to the real thing.
