What? I missed a Bingo Gazingo track while I was out? Archives!
Avatar Wed. 2/6/13 1:04pm G:

Just for the record, Howard Stern's entire career is predicated on overmodulation :)
Avatar Wed. 2/6/13 1:04pm efd:

I've only had the pleasure of shopping at Jerry's once, and after spending hours in the LP sections I barely had time to check out the singles. I need to do it the other way around next time.

Ugh...made it to work.
Avatar    Wed. 2/6/13 1:13pm Matt from Springfield:

Hey Bob, S.A. and all the other eses!

Squirrel Hill - P-burgh has lovely neighborhood names! Like Polish Hill! Is there a "Slovenian Hill" I wonder...?
Avatar    Wed. 2/6/13 1:15pm S.A. from S.F.:

Here in S.F. we have a "Cow Hollow", which sounds like a fine place to be abducted by aliens.
Avatar Wed. 2/6/13 1:16pm Stevel:

P-burgh also has the Mexican War Streets neighborhood, which is pretty darned awesome.
Avatar    Wed. 2/6/13 1:16pm Uncle Michael:

In Kansas, that's an erogenous zone.
Avatar Wed. 2/6/13 1:16pm Doug Schulkind:

There are a lotta hills. Dales, not so much.
Avatar    Wed. 2/6/13 1:17pm Matt from Springfield:

Zoot Fenster, whadda name!

@SA: For me it conjures up middle class people living in nice restored rowhouses, alongside rural hills where cows graze.
Avatar    Wed. 2/6/13 1:17pm Skirkie:

Only time I went to Pittsburgh (on purpose) we went to this store on the South side named Dave's. I got two 45s there but I don't remember what.
Avatar    Wed. 2/6/13 1:18pm ndbob:

Ah I remember the Man on Page 602 "controversy".
Avatar    Wed. 2/6/13 1:19pm S.A. from S.F.:

I actually have a copy of that Zoot Fenster 45, somewhere -- now I'm searching frantically, because I suspect that Amanda's agents have swiped it.
Avatar    Wed. 2/6/13 1:19pm Matt from Springfield:

NORVUS!!! NORVUS!!!!!!
He did ANOTHER song! Addictively demented pleasure!
Avatar    Wed. 2/6/13 1:21pm ndbob:

@Matt There's a CD of Nervous Nervous songs _ great stuff!
Avatar    Wed. 2/6/13 1:21pm Uncle Michael:

Nervous did lots of songs!
Avatar    Wed. 2/6/13 1:22pm Matt from Springfield:

Avatar    Wed. 2/6/13 1:22pm Amanda Nazario:

We drove past the Mexican War streets yesterday!
Avatar    Wed. 2/6/13 1:22pm S.A. from S.F.:

Ahhh -- FOUND it! Flip side: Vinegar In My Wine. Price sticker: 0.49 at 2nd Hand Tunes.
Avatar    Wed. 2/6/13 1:23pm Matt from Springfield:

Ho-Ho-Hold it!
Avatar Wed. 2/6/13 1:24pm Doug Schulkind:

It should come as no surprise that there is NOT an Emiliano Zapata Boulevard.
Avatar    Wed. 2/6/13 1:25pm listener james from westwood:

if tennessee ernie ford sang more commercial jingles, i'd listen to a lot more ads.
Avatar    Wed. 2/6/13 1:27pm S.A. from S.F.:

Great segue, Amanda, from Nervous to Ernie, by the way.

It's true, James -- I always stay tuned when I hit those Cousin Ernie episodes of I Love Lucy.
Avatar    Wed. 2/6/13 1:29pm Amanda Nazario:

Avatar    Wed. 2/6/13 1:36pm S.A. from S.F.:

Do I hear birds in the background? Doug?
Avatar    Wed. 2/6/13 1:36pm Matt from Springfield:

Is this a mainly P-burgh acquired records show? Or did you bring some from home as well?
Avatar    Wed. 2/6/13 1:37pm Matt from Springfield:

The Fleetwoods! <3
Avatar    Wed. 2/6/13 1:37pm S.A. from S.F.:

My sing-a-long track for today.
  Wed. 2/6/13 1:38pm ?:

I have the Transfusion single. Other side is Apeman (I think ..). Ape Call? Sheez, it's been a while.
Avatar    Wed. 2/6/13 1:39pm Uncle Michael:

Ernie, in his early days was making music as hip as Big Joe Turner. He was the man.
Avatar    Wed. 2/6/13 1:39pm Carmichael:

? was me. I had an internet event a minute ago and got kicked off. No one else had streaming problems?
Avatar    Wed. 2/6/13 1:40pm Matt from Springfield:

I've commented before on the key year for "makeout music" - 1959 - a subtle but pivotal turn reflecting changing mores in popular music. Think The Flamingos heavy cover of "I Only Have Eyes For You", anything by The Fleetwoods - makeout music on the rock/R&B scene started to bloom dramatically from that year.
Avatar    Wed. 2/6/13 1:41pm Matt from Springfield:

@Carm: I wish Norvus had done that single in 1970 - would love to hear him cover *The Kinks* "Apeman"! :)
Avatar    Wed. 2/6/13 1:41pm Amanda Nazario:

Hey guys, sorry if my last mic break was too quiet. I didn't say anything important so don't worry.
Avatar Wed. 2/6/13 1:42pm northguineahills:

Might as well check in while I remember.
Avatar    Wed. 2/6/13 1:42pm S.A. from S.F.:

@Matt - Interesting, yeah -- he would have been singing it "dead".
Avatar    Wed. 2/6/13 1:43pm Matt from Springfield:

Wow, Mersey version of this standard!

@SA: I know, right!
  Wed. 2/6/13 1:44pm Ranger:

Hello Miss Amanda! I'm home sick today and just realized I could be listening to your show live while I recoup. Silver linin'!
Avatar Wed. 2/6/13 1:44pm Dominick:

Your mic break was the only thing that didn't slam the crap out of something downstream. Everything else has been clipping
Avatar    Wed. 2/6/13 1:44pm S.A. from S.F.:

@Matt - I like the way you think about 1959.
Avatar    Wed. 2/6/13 1:44pm ndbob:

"Dig" is the flip of "Tranfusion" "Ape Call" is another 45 with the great "Wild Dogs of Kentucky" on hte flip
Avatar    Wed. 2/6/13 1:45pm Amanda Nazario:

Not one of these tracks was something I brought from home. It's all PGH.

HI RANGER!!!!! So lovely to hear from you! Feel better.
Avatar    Wed. 2/6/13 1:47pm S.A. from S.F.:
