Avatar    Mon. 1/21/13 12:03pm Doug Schulkind:

Speaking of MLK, check the opening cut on today's D:O Radio...
Avatar    Mon. 1/21/13 12:14pm Doug Schulkind:

Letting freedom ring.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 1/21/13 12:24pm duke:

This 10 Freedom Summers set is amazing. Great piece of work
Avatar    Mon. 1/21/13 12:25pm Doug Schulkind:

An enormous accomplishment. Record of a/the decade.
Avatar    Mon. 1/21/13 12:38pm Doug Schulkind:

The current group:
Drums – Weasel Walter
Guitar – Mary Halvorson
Trumpet – Peter Evans
Avatar    Mon. 1/21/13 12:40pm Doug Schulkind:

The good news: Even MORE Mary Halvorson coming up.
Mon. 1/21/13 12:45pm Brian in UK:

Hello Doug, slipped off stream, Irene's doing the business.
Jeffses off gallivanting?
Avatar    Mon. 1/21/13 12:50pm Doug Schulkind:

Our dear Jeffs are "in transit." I am going nowhere. Fast.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 1/21/13 12:52pm duke:

Where are we going and why are we in this handbasket?
Avatar    Mon. 1/21/13 12:53pm Doug Schulkind:

And yet even MORE Mary H. Fujiwara's bandmates:

Mary Halvorson (guitar), Brian Settles (tenor saxophone), Jonathan Finlayson (trumpet), Trevor Dunn (bass), Tomas Fujiwara (drums)
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 1/21/13 1:09pm duke:

This Tim Berne thing is pretty hot
Avatar    Mon. 1/21/13 1:12pm Doug Schulkind:

Scalding! Berne studied with the exalted Julius Hemphill. Bless them both.
  Mon. 1/21/13 1:41pm Peanut Gallery:

All the best to all involved here.
Avatar    Mon. 1/21/13 1:43pm Doug Schulkind:

Thanks for the unsalted comment, Peanut Gallery.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 1/21/13 1:54pm Peanut Gallery:

Ha. True. You want salt?! "Squonk!"
Mon. 1/21/13 1:55pm On the Cornet:

WHERE ARE Jeff and Jeff?
Avatar    Mon. 1/21/13 1:57pm Doug Schulkind:

@Peanut Gallery
Salt peanuts, salt peanuts!

@On the Cornet
The Masters Jeff are both in transit today. It's only fitting, 'cause their show is surely moving.
Mon. 1/21/13 1:58pm On the Cornet:

what do you mean they are stuck in traFFIC or they are being chucked out of WFMU/GTDS?
Avatar    Mon. 1/21/13 2:04pm Doug Schulkind:

@On the Cornet
Neither! The are both traveling today w/o Internet access. Far from chucking them out, I would give them MORE hours if they could manage them.
Mon. 1/21/13 2:06pm On the Cornet:

So are these tracks your end of year 2012 favorites or Jeff/s?
Avatar    Mon. 1/21/13 2:07pm Doug Schulkind:

Yes that's right, On the Cornet. These are among the Jeffs favorite releases of 2012.
Mon. 1/21/13 2:11pm On the Cornet:

is that you really Doug, or have you a frog in your throat? your voice sounds so much deeper than the last time I heard you?
Avatar Mon. 1/21/13 2:19pm Shaun:

Loved that last set. Am all over the Aum Fidelity website right now.,
Avatar    Mon. 1/21/13 2:22pm Doug Schulkind:

There is no place like AUM.
Avatar Mon. 1/21/13 2:26pm Shaun:

Be it ever so aumble. Their flash sale is making my paypal trigger-finger itch.
Avatar    Mon. 1/21/13 2:31pm Doug Schulkind:

Crikey! That is an excellent deal at AUM. Twelve discs for $60?! Wow.

Avatar Mon. 1/21/13 2:42pm Shaun:

Think I've only heard the Ware Corridors & Parallels but 44 quid all-in shipped to Perfidious Albion...??
Avatar    Mon. 1/21/13 2:46pm Doug Schulkind:

There's not a bad one in that AUM bunch, but I would recommend the William Parker "Long Hidden" disc with abundant enthusiasm. (OH hell, they're all fantastic.)
Mon. 1/21/13 2:52pm Brian in UK:

Hi-Fidelity, go tell it on the mountain.
Avatar Mon. 1/21/13 2:53pm Shaun:

Cheers, Doug.

I am but the superconductor, allowing the electricity to flow. Our Jeffs are the mighty generators. Sizzling!

You are the Super superconductor
