Freeform happiness! Something BOTH ears can agree on!

Radio for your mind's ear.
  Fri. 9/14/12 12:07pm duke:

Mmmm I could use some Kickapoo Joy Juice about now.
Fri. 9/14/12 12:08pm Matt from Springfield:

My mind's ear is quite pleased, as is my mind's mouth, imagining what "Kickapoo Joy Juice" might taste like..
Fri. 9/14/12 12:08pm Matt from Springfield:

Great minds, duke!
  Fri. 9/14/12 12:09pm Andrew Waterloo:

I wonder if Kickapoo Joy Juice is anything like Coffee Cola
Avatar    Fri. 9/14/12 12:09pm Doug Schulkind:

KJJ for everybody!
Fri. 9/14/12 12:12pm Matt from Springfield:

This penultimate installment of Steinski is in fact my own ultimate installment; I'm taking a long weekend at the beach next Friday and will miss the festivities and good people here.

Very glad to have caught these Steinski episodes though, and to take them in live as Doug replayed them and breathed fresh new life into these gems. Now we have Archives for all of them, but the live experience is so fun!
Fri. 9/14/12 12:13pm Matt from Springfield:

MIKE Nichols and comedic partner ELAINE May, first time I've heard an audio routine of theirs.
Avatar    Fri. 9/14/12 12:14pm Doug Schulkind:

Well Matt, keep your ears on for some MORE Nichols & May!
Fri. 9/14/12 12:20pm Matt from Springfield:

I've read about their stage routines, never had the pleasure of hearing them perform. Ears are peeled.

And, at least I can listen to the other Steinski episodes I missed after GTDS now! I'm looking forward to that, plus I can pause and go back with Archives!
Avatar    Fri. 9/14/12 12:22pm Doug Schulkind:

Nichols & May were fantastic. Amazing to think of all that spectacular aesthetic power behind those droll routines.
Fri. 9/14/12 12:25pm Matt from Springfield:

Ha ha, get him out on 54th Street!
  Fri. 9/14/12 12:29pm Andrew Waterloo:

If you give a moose a muffin....
Avatar    Fri. 9/14/12 12:30pm Doug Schulkind:

I read my kid all them books.
  Fri. 9/14/12 12:33pm Andrew Waterloo:

Yah, I have a collection that comes with a CD where David Hyde Pierce reads the pig one (I think)
Fri. 9/14/12 12:33pm Matt from Springfield:

Monitor, on the NBC Radio Network!
Fri. 9/14/12 12:35pm Matt from Springfield:

Ninetiesectomy!
Fri. 9/14/12 12:40pm Matt from Springfield:

And still more Nichols & May!
Avatar    Fri. 9/14/12 12:42pm Doug Schulkind:

Nichols & More, coming up.
  Fri. 9/14/12 12:42pm kat330:

REALLY late, but here now!

Hiya, good Mixers!
  Fri. 9/14/12 12:44pm kat330:

Can't argue with Harry's logic. :)
Avatar    Fri. 9/14/12 12:45pm Doug Schulkind:

Heya kat330!
Fri. 9/14/12 12:45pm Matt from Springfield:

Hiya kat!
Mixers--also late, but a good name for us Steinski fans!
Fri. 9/14/12 12:46pm Matt from Springfield:

We'll just have to mix Archives together :)
  Fri. 9/14/12 12:46pm kat330:

Ahoy, Doug! Guess no jury duty again this week? After your link about your wife, very possible you'll never pass voir dir though.
  Fri. 9/14/12 12:47pm kat330:

'lo, Mattster!
  Fri. 9/14/12 12:47pm Stanley:

Phew! back home just in time for the last quarter hour.
  Fri. 9/14/12 12:48pm kat330:

Ohhhhh, one of my fave songs of all time!!
  Fri. 9/14/12 12:48pm kat330:

And Ms. Horne does it more than justice.
Avatar    Fri. 9/14/12 12:49pm Doug Schulkind:

Welcome home, Stanley. Can I pour you a drink?
  Fri. 9/14/12 12:50pm Stanley:

Drink? Knew there was something missing. Just a mo'
Fri. 9/14/12 12:51pm Matt from Springfield:

@Doug: To refer back to last show, the lovely Lena Horne--introduced to many of us early, through her various Sesame Street appearances.
  Fri. 9/14/12 12:54pm kat330:

@Matt: I don't see Lena on Doug's list?

Guess I'll just help myself to some Joy Juice. Manners, Doug! ;)
Avatar    Fri. 9/14/12 12:55pm Doug Schulkind:

I was never a big Horne tooter. I always found it disconcerting how she could sing with out really opening her mouth that much. At least it sounded that way to me.
Fri. 9/14/12 12:56pm Matt from Springfield:

@kat: There was a song title "Sesame Street" from reggae singer Scotty mentioned :)

GREAT Stovall Sisters version of this!
  Fri. 9/14/12 12:58pm kat330:

Well, I didn't want to say it, but yeah, I've heard better versions of Stormy Weather than Lena's there.

@Matt: Ah, OK. Actually glad I took a quick peek at GTDS. Apparently I missed a chance to wish LJfW a HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!! [hope he'll see that]
Fri. 9/14/12 12:59pm Matt from Springfield:

Hope the mouse gets better soon...
Avatar    Fri. 9/14/12 1:00pm Doug Schulkind:

I think many, including Steinski, would call Horne's "Stormy Weather" as the iconic version. Not so much me.
  Fri. 9/14/12 1:01pm kat330:

Sadly I don't even know the name of the singer I saw live in an L.A. lounge about about 30 years ago who opened the skies with her Stormy Weather -- never heard it so good.
  Fri. 9/14/12 1:03pm Stanley:

Zowie indeed! Thanks Doug. See ya later.
  Fri. 9/14/12 1:03pm kat330:

Well, seems like I barely sat down, took a single sip of my self-served joy juice and now I have to be off.

TY Steinski and, as always, TY Doug for bringing this to us!
Safe weekends and be good, all!
Fri. 9/14/12 1:05pm Matt from Springfield:

"Electronic address"--that dates the program!

Thanks Steinski and Doug for this vibrant series of shows! I've really enjoyed these and I'm sure all of you have as well. Bye Doug, kat and everyone, and have a great weekend!
Avatar    Fri. 9/14/12 1:11pm Doug Schulkind:

Cheers to all y'all!
