Listener comments!

  12:06pm KevinfromBayRidge:

Howdyall , Joe do we really need to be reminded by a bunch of Romney supporters that " Summer's Gone" ??
  12:08pm SteveL:

I hate this version of Kokomo much less than the original. Of course, I live in Indiana, so Kokomo conjures up a much different image in my mind.
  12:08pm Mitt:

huh? wha?
Avatar 12:12pm Joe B:

Hi all thanks for tuning in! Hi kevin, if I eliminated republicans from the playlist we'd have to ditch all the VU and Crazy Horse records as well! (both drummers)
  12:15pm Mitt:

and Nicki Minaj!
  12:16pm Parq:

How can summer be gone when we have sounds like this? Belock = endless summer.
Avatar 12:17pm Joe B:

The original Kokomo has a nice vocal tag from Carl Wilson, probably his last great performance on a record. I guess the hate comes from its association with the Full House TV show and/or the fact that Mike Love had a No. 1 hit without Brian's input.
  12:17pm In The Know:

The New Surfsiders?? That's Dave The Spazz' band!
  12:18pm In The Know:

The weird thing about Kokomo is that it was written by John Phillips, correct?
  12:18pm Woo:

I've conditioned myself to ignore an artist's politics. I never liked solo Nugent but the Amboy Dukes had some good stuff which I will not boycott just because Ted is insane.
Avatar 12:19pm Joe B:

Philips had the most of it but by the end 4 cowriters are credited
  12:19pm Misty:

I'm not sure I'll ever watch Clint Eastwood with the same joy.
  12:21pm Brian:

Eugene Landy probably thinks he wrote it.
  12:22pm Richard from Venezuela:

Hello Joe and all the listeners.
  12:29pm Parq:

I try not to consider an artist's politics, the same way I try not to consider other personal flaws or failings (Frank Sinatra, anyone?), but some are so over the top foolish that I can't help when, say, listening to an old Amboy Dukes track or watching Victoria Jackson in "UHF", thinking "Gee what a jerk he/she turned out to be."
  12:31pm glenn:

i heard that paul ryan roundhouse kicked chuck norris so hard that chuck went back in time.
  12:39pm Cheri Pi:

Hey Joe B and friends!
  12:45pm fred von helsing:

Ted is insane but Anthony impressively did not strangle him
Avatar 12:46pm Joe B:

Hi Cheri Pi, Glenn, Richard, Parq, Brian, Woo, ITK, SteveL, Kevin and everyone else listening!
  12:54pm Cheri Pi:

YEEAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!
  12:57pm John L:

Can you play some Hank Williams Jr.?
  12:57pm SteveL:

Cheri Pi: Now, if he followed with Kvelertak I'll be a happy guy, (although I figure I'll pretty much like whatever Joe B plays next.)
  12:59pm Cheri Pi:

Amen Steve L.!!
  1:04pm SteveL:

This just in: If I'm dancing around my desk (briefly) I'm probably pretty happy with Joe's choices.
  1:04pm KevinWho:

that Overnight Lows had a Monkey 101 feel to it ...which may be meaningful only to me ... and whoa, is this Shirks song actually a Police cover???
  1:07pm KevinWho:

okay, not a Police cover, but has a remarkably similar beginning
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CYoLUfLJFzI
  1:12pm Sting:

I don't worry about the beginning, mate, it's the ending I concern myself with. Just ask Trudie.
  1:18pm Trudie Styler:

Tantric, schmantric.
  1:25pm Bryan D:

Hey Joe, The Shirks are from Washington DC
Avatar 1:29pm Joe B:

thanks Bryan! see what happens when I assume!
  1:48pm Mike C.:

Wow, need to get this Maganzoides. Cool stuff.
  1:59pm ?:

Anyone remember Sharks with Chris Spedding?
  2:00pm glenn:

i do. i saw them on a new years eve in toronto, maybe 1982?
  2:04pm glenn:

although i can never figure out if when you say new years eve you mean the year you are exiting, or the year you are entering.
  2:07pm SHIMMY:

this concussions is killer stuff. Mastered by Jim Diamond I see... who are the heads behind this shtuff?
Avatar 2:08pm Joe B:

Shimmy, I don't recognize any of the names!
  2:10pm Woo:

I'll have a beer as well. Buncha Rhode Islanders in this band. I like it.
  2:12pm SHIMMY:

apparently the frontman of the concussions is listed as "Dick Chiclet" -- I'm guessing this is not his Christian name...
  2:14pm SHIMMY:

Here's a good one for Saturday: Giuda (Italian glammers) with Livids & 45 adapters @ St Vitus in Greenpoint
  2:14pm SHIMMY:

Also Twin Guns @ Lone Wolf this Thursday
  2:16pm jljl:

Giuda pronounced Jewda. Worth checking out if you like some AC/DC in your glam. Former members of Taxi.
Avatar 2:18pm Joe B:

thanks Shimmy and jl!
  2:23pm John L:

True West!!! Very cool. Got any Eleventh Dream Day?
I've been on a real EDD kick lately.
  2:24pm patradio:

True West! I haven't heard this one in ages. Thanks!
  2:24pm Donnie R.:

I don't think "Pujol" is their Christian name either, Shimmy...
  2:25pm SHIMMY:

never know, they might be relatives of the one of the most overpaid players in the game...
  2:26pm Cheri Pi:

Anton Maiden !! (RIP buddy)
  2:27pm Cheri Pi:

ok, well I was close.
  2:28pm Cheri Pi:

wrong guy / wrong band= pretty close. Spirit was the same.
  2:33pm John L:

Thanks!!!
  2:33pm seang:

seems like the Flash Player isn't working--rock on Joe!
  2:35pm Mike East:

Flash is flashing fine over here. sounding great, in fact, Joe!
  2:39pm Cheri Pi:

A copy of Brian Turner's Budget Budokan II was just handed to me from the mail room. Just like in the old days when important things came in the mail.
  2:44pm Prognut:

How I wish you'd play Flash.
  2:47pm efd:

Do Giuda have any records out? They sound right up my alley!

Great show Joe, as usual!
  2:48pm SHIMMY:

i believe they do evan. they're a modern groop. i've heard tremendous things about them, although i'll be missing this show saturday.
  2:51pm efd:

I won't be able to go either... I'll do a little digging and see what I can find.
  2:53pm Bob Furapples:

Dirtbombs. The Professor loves them (Audio Kitchen).
