Listener comments!

  12:02pm tim from champaign:

Hey Joe! Missed the past couple weeks. Stoked to be back!
  12:03pm efd:

The official start of summer!
  12:05pm Mike East:

Songs with counting in them are automatic hits. My name's not Ulana, but yes, I do wanna go to the beach.
  12:12pm Woo:

How's the new Beach Boys? The two songs I've heard are surprisingly OK
  12:13pm geokopp:

ain't no cure
Avatar 12:14pm Joe B:

Hi Tim, thanks for tuning in, welcome back! welcome back EFD! Hi Mike! and George! and Woo! Woo, my expectations were low, and they were exceeded! the tour is fantastic. Went to 2 shows in early may, going to Jones Beach in a couple weeks.
  12:18pm Cynthia:

Mike, Ulana said no...so now it's Hey Mike East...Come With Us to the Beach. :)
  12:20pm Mike East:

too bad she's missing out, Cynthia. I'm spending the first week of July down the shore. In my mind, I'm already there.
  12:23pm tim from champaign:

I caught the Fleshtones a few years back. They played at the U of Illinois student union with The Hentchmen. There were only 6 people in the crowd so the Fleshtones invited everyone on stage for a dance party while they played. It was a blast!
  12:25pm efd:

Not that I didn't have a great time on vacation, but I am bummed that I missed both the dB's and Insomniacs shows!
Avatar 12:26pm Joe B:

EFD, basically same set as the Hoboken street fair but maybe a couple more new ones.
  12:41pm Frank:

Joe, could you please play some Pleasure Kills?
  12:59pm Cheri Pi:

Hello Joe! I've missed you very much and I'm so psyched to be back.
  1:00pm rubble:

Now that's a lyric!
Avatar 1:09pm Joe B:

Rubble! Hi Cheri, welcome back! Sorry Frank, don't have the Pleasure Kills here
  1:13pm Fiveash:

Hiya Joe! Nice 2000 Lb. Bee! This is Bob Irwin's band, right?
  1:14pm laura:

That totally sounded like Boss Hoss by the Sonics.
Avatar 1:14pm Joe B:

hey Matt! yes, Bob Irwin, Eddie Angel, Jimmy Lester and some other movers and shakers I can't think of right now!
  1:20pm Bad Ronald:

Aloha Joe et al! It's gonna be a rockin' summer, I can feel it in my bones!
  1:25pm Mike East:

Is Gaylord's Summer Soooooooooooooooooooooouuul-stice this weekend?
  1:27pm dvd:

King Tuff live set from Terre T's show was just uploaded to the FMA: http://freemusicarchive.org/music/King_Tuff/
  1:50pm John L.:

How about some post-birthday love for Paul McCartney?
  1:52pm Hugh:

Jeez, never heard these Kinks kuts before. Thanks Joe!
  2:02pm David Shortell:

I never heard of the Castle label. Did they snatch Pye's Kinks katalog?
Avatar 2:04pm Joe B:

it is or was part of Sanctuary. apparently the more recent batch of reissues is a big sonic upgrade but I cant afford to buy the same stuff again!
  2:05pm KP:

You're making me nervous with all this Kinky stuff.
  2:08pm tim from champaign:

Paul McCartney and Wings fans, where should I start? I picked up Band on The Run recently a dig it. Where should I go from here?
  2:10pm John L.:

The reissues are supposed to sound great, but they are pricey. How many times can I buy the same title? On the other hand, I've been buying the McCartney reissues. Tim, get Ram next.
Avatar 2:11pm Joe B:

Ram and Venus and Mars. I also recommend Paul's 1999 50s covers CD Run Devil Run. can usually be found for 1 or 2 dollars and kicks ass.
  2:12pm Hugh:

I think you missed the station ID this hour :P
  2:12pm tim from champaign:

Cool! Thanks for the tips.
  2:12pm John L.:

Venus and Mars is great, but OOP for now. If you see it cheap, go for it.
  2:13pm SteveL:

Richard Dawson nearly out-Shatners Shatner!
  2:19pm Bad Ronald:

@ TFC: RAM fer sure!
  2:24pm asparagus:

the David Briggs sound is alive and well!! Beefy tones!
  2:28pm rubble:

The archival Ram re ish is a thing of beauty. REALLY well done.
  2:29pm das:

Great tune!
  2:30pm Thierry:

Neil Young & Andre Willams: giants in 2012!
  2:31pm Bad Ronald:

Weller's Macca B'Day trib: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ITCumd75J2o
  2:35pm mark:

Venus and Mars reissue is coming soon!
  2:36pm Mike East:

Walked into the record store 2 weeks ago to pickup a Used copy of Ram. The "M" section was blocked by some people so I started looking at some random LP's that hadn't been shelved yet. Third one back was Ram for $8, right behind Hair soundtrack and Saturday Night Fever. Awesome album and NO scratches or skips - which is more than I can say for that shitty copy of Captain Fantastic I got last week.
Avatar 2:39pm Joe B:

that original Ram LP is one of the best pressings of all-time. there is a reissue on vinyl but the original is perfect, and plentiful as you found out!
Avatar 2:40pm Joe B:

Hi Das, Thierry, Mark, asparagus, BR, Hugh, SteveL, KP and David S!
  2:41pm Bad Ronald:

Plus, for all of you Entomologists out there, RAM is the only album cover that I know of that features a picture of two beetles copulating...
  2:43pm tim from champaign:

Is that symbolic of something, Bad Ronald?
  2:44pm duke:

like this Lee Bains tune a lot.
  2:46pm Mike East:

I missed that, BR. I'll have to look closer.
  2:46pm Bad Ronald:

I believe so... there's also a picture of Paul and Linda wearing clown masks donning bags... rumor has it the "How Do You Sleep?" may have been spurred by the release.
  2:50pm jljl:

What a great Neil song.
  2:50pm geokopp:

back cover of ram has the beetle art
  2:50pm David Shortell:

Spurred by the track "Too Many People" I've heard, though it was never clear to me why.
  2:53pm Bad Ronald:

"You took your lucky break and broke it in two" "...preaching practices...". "3 Legs" refers to the Beatles as well...
  2:59pm Pat Flynn:

Every show I learn bout somebody new. Thanks for getting me into loads of good stuff, Joe.
