This program features three tracks each week, culled from the endless barrage of independent 45s that were released throughout the 1990s. A shameless re-visitation of those halcyon days when mailorder and photocopied fanzines ruled the school.

There are 6 "simple machines" -- wedge, wheel, pulley, screw, lever, inclined plane. Some have argued that the classical list double counts, e.g. a pulley is just a particular use of a wheel, a screw is a wedge combined with a lever (and therefore not so simple), an inclined plane is a wedge on its side. But it's great to hear the Wire cover again after many years.

Ah, that Slant 6 jam is a goodie. Meant to comment last week on the Nuisance, who must be in my top five fave Lookout-associated groups. Scrolling through your back episodes, I have no idea how I missed your Illyah Kuryahkin inclusion. Their split with Mitch Mitchell's Terrifying Experience is one of those 7"s I leave close to the front of the pile. While many, many, many of my 7"s farm up dust, that one gets plenty of play.

Oh man, it's been a minute since I cued up the Anti-Static podcast. Hearing that opening riff to 30-30 vision put the biggest smile on my face. Thank you Mike for what is by far my favorite musical experience of the week every week.

Scrawl does indeed still play out occasionally. I saw them in a bar in Columbus last August when I was in town for something completely unrelated. They were incendiary, totally worth blowing off my friends for.
