did ZZ & de Maskers sing in Dutch as well as English or was there a period they changed from one to the other?

Hello Jan and folks.

Paper Kosmonaut, your comment calls to mind a term I heard as a youth, being told by your parents that you were "in Dutch" meant you were very much in trouble. Guess I can turn to the internet for an explanation now.

Hey WR, I learned that most english expressions using the word "Dutch" have a negative connotation. Dutch Uncle, Dutch Treat, Going Dutch, etc.
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:55pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

'Dutch angle' actually refers to the German expressionism in cinematography so, it actually is "Deutsch" instead of Dutch.
Avatar 12:56pm
Mr Fab:

↳ Paper Kosmonaut @12:54
I didn't think those were all bad. Doesn't "Dutch treat" just mean that 2 people are splitting the bill?
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:58pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

↳ Mr Fab @12:56
That's right, but I guess it is used when that action is frowned upon.
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 1:00pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

Beat the Dutch: To exceed expectations.

WR:

Dutch Treat, Going Dutch are, of course meaning splitting the bill, original implication being that the male wasn't going to pay for his date. Quickly developed other connotations, meaning the lady is sharing the price so the guy cannot use the date to press for dominance. By the 80s it just meant sharing. Not familiar with Dutch Uncle. Maybe it also alludes to being stingy over money.

it's in that list, WR: To be in Dutch with someone: Being in trouble with someone.
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 1:06pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

The Dutch had a lot of enemies in the 17th century. We had on and off beef with the British, the Spanish, the French, all (and if not all, then a lot) because of the trade in the East and West Indies.

↳ Song: "Blackbird" by "Braq"
Wow, this sets a high bar. I was thinking of reprising my karaoke go to, doing I wanna hold your hand with a Johnny Rotten snarl. Not very musical.
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 1:52pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Braq was founded by old youth choir members of the R.C. church from which I was part as a flute player together with Emiel on guitar (in the picture) . The lead singer Ton van Asselen (also in the pciture) is a distant cousin of mine and conductor back in the days. Also: Annet van Zwieten in this photograph. All three from Vinkeveen, where I was born.
