Good morning Doug.

It's really too early for me to be typing, but here I go anyway.

This morning I woke up with the overwhelming desire to hear two songs in my 45's collection back to back - Down On Me by Big Brother and the Holding Company and Don't Laugh at Me by Howlin' Wolf. Yesterday I told myself I wasn't going to sift through records today, but I feel I must.

This is often interpreted as Sonny giving his imprimatur to Coltrane as being a worthy successor (although Rollins was very far from retiring at this point).

I saw Kronos in the late-early days, if that makes sense. Their programs consisted of one or two canonical pieces--Beethoven, Bartok, etc.--and one or two new pieces. They encored once with a medley of television sitcom theme songs.
