Favoriting The Radio Is Broken with Rich In Washington: Playlist from March 1, 2024 Favoriting

The Radio Is Broken is a three-hour spelunk through the canyons and fissures of humanity's collective unconscious. It sounds as if a field recording of the Culture Industry were a sonic juggernaut barreling down a rickety track—except that tunnel ahead is just painted onto a sheer cliff wall. With occasional forays into what might pass for "normal" music. Prerequisite journey: Cratedigger's Lung

I like to just go out randomly in public and say "Timing". This is a reference to Albert Brooks' "Comedy Minus One" where he says timing is very important, specifically "Timing. Say it with me: Timing." And I like the idea that I'm more than 50 years late repeating the phrase "Timing" but it's a subtle joke so I'd have to say most people don't get it.
  9:43pm
Dean:

There's that joke where the inquisitor interrupts the interlocutor with "Timing!" before the interlocutor can reply to the query, "What's the most important feature of comedy?"

One day I'll dig Ministry. Today is not that day.

Lewis was well-known for his neuroses whenever he performs or does the talk show circuit. Neurotics run a great risk of succumbing to a stroke or heart attack.Clearly Lewis was someone who was quite uncomfortable around people most of the time. Perhaps he attempted to overcome it through comedy.

Definitely a composition / framework with space for solo or ensemble improv.

I don't of any improv of large ensemble that doesn't have some framework. There probably is.

i think zorn's games or morris' conduction get closer to the core of improv with a large group, but like a said i like this just fine

zorn's game pieces are kinda tapdancing on the line

is it really composed/structured if the structure is determined completely at random?

What the fellas on the right are doing is anyone's guess and there seems to be a boat coming in on a tsunami.
Then I put my glasses on.
