Before that country song unexpectedly came on, I was about to say that this song reminds me of a power plant and factory near which I lived as a teenager. I remember hearing this song for the first time in the day and in the night time I was walking near the plant with this song stuck in my head. And now I always remember that power plant (it no longer exists) when hearing "I Can See for Miles".

I was listening to The Clash's "White Man in Hammersmith Palais" earlier in the evening. Hammersmith Palais does not exist anymore. Joe Strummer passed away long ago. Discussion about Reggae roots rock rebel and Punks only doin' it for the money is no longer relevant. But Strummer singing about wealth and racial inequality and some other things in that song are shockingly still relevant 50 years on.

BlueCheer did 'SummertimeBlues' on their first album - 1968 - which was basically in shape by 1967. Absolutely one of the earliest things to be considered Metallic. None of which of course would have been possible without TheWho pioneering Marshall Stacks with that company in London 1964-5...
They're both outstanding versions - & notably different actually. BlueCheer's was taking it somewhere new I'd have to say. They truly celebrated new frontiers in over-amplification for the sake of the Sound itself...
