I saw that Mickey Katz group at the original Knitting Factory.. It was packed on a Saturday Night, Michael Dorf was turning people away. Orthodox jewish folks were screaming about schlepping from Long Island to see the show, Dorf was screaming back, "where are you on Wednesday nights when I have 5 people here to hear free jazz!"

The most amazing drummer I ever saw was a kid who couldn't have been a day over 14 backing several gospel groups at a church outside of Valdosta, Georgia in 1997. I was doing field recordings for Georgia Public Radio. No matter what they threw at him. this kid was able to stay on top of it. It was jaw-dropping. I wonder what became of him
