I would not like to be that guy's neighbour, had a neighbour who did feed the local animals and it is zero fun dealing with animals who have zero fear of humans. The black bear was the worst, the racoons a close second.

In my youth, as an experienced camper, I made sure that all food got locked in the car at all times. I left a container of salt in the kitchen tent, thinking that would be safe. For the rest of the camping trip I had no salt. There were tracks from the kitchen tent to the nearest stream. Poor racoons, I still feel bad for them eating so much salt!
