I recently read that the Dutch, of all non-native English speakers in Europe, have the easiest time learning English. Any truth to that? Inquiring minds want to know.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24pm
Jan Turkenburg:

↳ Sem @1:21
No it's the Frysian people rather than the Dutch Dutch and it's my opinion Flamish (Dutch part of Belgium) speak better English than we do.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:25pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

↳ Sem @1:21
The Dutch television has always had subtitles so we all grew up hearing the original language and pronounciation. I guess that helped a lot.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 1:26pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

The flemish people speak better dutch than the Dutch.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:26pm

And in my observation Scandinavian people especially Swedes do a pretty good job too, maybe also even better... But that is not very scientific of me...

A bit off the topic, but the most polyglot fluency I have ever witnessed personally (at least in tourist-pestering) are the Moroccan guides at Tangier. They try to engage you in half a dozen languages until they hit your native tongue. Then it's time to run for it, 'cause those fellas just never quit pitching...
