The remoteness wasn't so much a part of it, as I live in Judd's land. But the musicality of the piece was apparent on sight. Turns out he was a musician. The musical element of the ineffable can never be undermined by big, fuck off, land art. It's there and it brings these gestures home towards something pure.

n enigmatic language, Kafka used to hint smilingly that within this "almost limitless" theatre his young hero was going to find again a profession, a stand-by, his freedom, even his old home and his parents, as if by some celestial witchery.[8]

One night in 1984 I was walking down the street in Soho. I think it was on Green Street, but I really can't remember. Donald Judd was alone in his gallery with two frightened looking people - a man and a woman. He was lecturing them and waving a finger like a stern schoolmarm. For me it was like watching a brutalist puppet theater. The entire gallery floor was layed out with Judds minimalist brushed aluminum cubes.

I can only imagine he was telling them 'If you want to buy a piece of my art, you have to throw out all the other furniture in your house. That's the only way it can be truly appreciated.'

If all goes according to plan, i'll be out of the shelter by next month. my deputy director asked for authorization to expedite my security clearance by the end of the month (otherwise it would be four more months). It best happen, as I only budgeted until last week (when I was told I was originally expected to start).

not sure if you've seen the series, invasion, but bowie is a central theme. i like it as it doesn't browbeat you w/ the plot, it takes six episodes before it recognizes it's actually an alien invasion. many things are inferred, rather than stated...

belladonna of sadness, had to refresh my memory on wiki, quite an epic convoluted tale, could see how it might put some women off, with the rape scenes, and could be construed as misogynist, but it is clearly a fable, it just doesn't shy away from worst case scenarios for women

Lady Chanticleer, it's really wonderful that you get all this airtime. I especially enjoyed the two pieces from Jack DeJohnette's "Sorcery" LP. I saw him once with Keith Jarrett when they had their "Standards" trio. So sublime. Too bad about Mr. Jarrett and his physical maladies.
