In the end, it's all digitized to send it over the stream (and compressed). But some shows have better sound (to my ears) than others; I'm guessing the different home set ups make a difference in the ultimate sound that comes through (Uncle Michael, who streams video of his show, seems to have quite a set up in his studio, for example).
