Don't know Mazzy Star (the name, yes, but not the music), but don't think of The Beths as soft(ish) rock/pop, more of a Power-Pop or Punk-Pop(or some other rediculous hyphenated classification)

Funny this. My sister started college in the summer of 1971. One day she brought home Lick My Decals Off and the first Ry Cooder album from the school library. At that time, Lick My Decals Off had a lyric sheet. Let's just say it blew my fifteen year old brains out.

I know. Also, long ago I was working on a Got Milk commercial. The prop master asked me to get something from his van, He had the doors open and was blasting A Meeting By The River by Ry Cooder and Vishwan Bhat. I had seen both Ry and Bhat, so I knew the material well. Bill, the prop master told me he use to be Ry's road manager. I asked him how that happened. He told me he was Captain Beefheart's road manager before that...

The early Steely Dan had two fine vocalists aside from Donald Fagen, I see. Jim Hodder does a great job on "Dallas," don't you think? And David Palmer sang a couple of excellent tunes on the band's debut album. "Dirty Work" was a showstopper.

My big gripe about the Dan, is that as many times their music has been compiled, repackaged, remastered and boxed, that they never include those 2 tracks and Gully Water.
