I attended a zoom meeting last night with a Camaroon traditional healer who is looking for funding to properly record healing and other traditional songs. He presented several sample recordings he had made with his phone. He said that the funding is not just to hire an engineer with proper equipment, it is also to compensate the singers and drummers.

I will be sharing more information as it is available, assuming interest and support develops.

The producer of this Max Roach session for Atlantic was Joel Dorn. Dorn brought in vocal ensembles onto many sessions, including Cissy Houston and the Sweet Inspirations on a number of Yusef Lateef dates. (We will hear one such performance in this set.)

Also Joel Dorn is the father of Adam Dorn, who, performing as Mocean Worker, provided the piece I used as a talkover track immediately preceding this set.
