Del Shannon made so many great covers. One of my favorites is "Tell Her No".

Unfortunately the fact that the Monkees started out as a TV show band keeps them from getting into the R&RHOF

Meanwhile country and rap artists are inducted. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is a joke.

Is it really Christopher Jones we hear singing in the "Wild in the Streets" soundtrack?
I read that his lines in "The Looking Glass War" and "Ryan's Daughter" were overdubbed by other actors.

↳ Song: "The Girl Who Sang The Blues" by "Chad And Jeremy"
The duo's career was never the same after Catwoman stole their voices. They never should've played in Gotham City.
However, they later did the soundtrack for "Three in the Attic"--starring the aforementioned Christopher Jones!

↳ Song: "Angelica" by "Barry Gordon"
This is the kid from "The Girl Can't Help It" who grew up to act in the sitcoms "Fish" and "Archie Bunker's Place".

For some reason I have a harder time finding the US version of this song but the UK version keeps crossing my path.

Barry Mann was a great recording artist. It’s a shame “Who Put the Bomp” is all most people know of him beyond his songwriting. Every time I hear him on CTTS or elsewhere, I’m always impressed when his name pops up.

The New York Times obituary of Cynthia Weil says that Weil and Mann intended "We've Got To Get Out Of This Place" for the Righteous Brothers.

Didn't know that. It wouldn't have fit their vocals though.

uptownjen:

I always thought “We’ve Got to Get Out of This Place” was written by Mann for Mann. He claimed he knew it was a hit, and he said he was so bummed that they beat him to it with such a great feel. I saw this on a Brill Building doc I own. I think it was originally made by A&E and features King, Goffin, Mann, and Weil in one room talking. It’s quite good.
