Polish is my first language. I never had any formal lessons in it and I fell out of practice conversationally, but I understand it when I hear it. Except for newsreaders on Polish language TV. They speak so fast!

Krys, I’m that way with Spanish. I know a fair amount of individual words and phrases, but they speak so fast they’re like a tape on fast-forward. Spanish speakers must be a lot smarter than us lazy English speakers.

There was one in our driveway last week. It ran under my neighbor's SUV. We have foxes and the occasional deer, but we live on a very busy road near the Garden State Parkway. Traffic moves way too fast for the raccoons and opossums to saunter safely.

I used to encounter raccoons when I came home from doing my late night shows on WFMU. They hung out by the door. It made it difficult to get inside sometimes. They were just looking for food though.

Yea they can get comfortable with humans. My uncle used to keep one as a pet when he was a kid but apparently it wasn’t completely tame… used to chase my mom into her room & then stick it’s paw under her door… unless my uncle trained it to do that… he was a bit of a prankster
