Sondy and I visited the Musee Mecanique at Fisherman's Wharf in San Fran in December and she took that photo as I was laughing with my new little bizarro friend.

Give me surface noise and scratchies over low-bitrate digital files anyday, love it.

What a cool place. San Fran isn't totally ruined yet.

Nah, still a great city... just could not imagine living there now with the cost. Too high for my pockets. Last time living there was 2005 and it was pricey then with roommates.

right on! I once heard John Peel say on his show something like, yes this record has a bit of surface noise, but that's ok - LIFE has surface noise.

Roy, I think you would love Speedo's show Wednesday evenings. Really good, I catch it in the archives often as I'm not around much in the evening (however going to try to stay up tonight for Bob's new show at 10pm). Speedo plays what he finds in cheapo boxes like us.

Next song is specially for all those surface noise enthousiasts out there, you know who you are!

If you all love these groovy exotic lounge-y sounds, you'll be happy to know that the other day I heard from DJ Rubberband Girl, host of "Provocative Percussion". she recently moved to my neck of the woods, and once everything's settled she hopes to bring her show back to the Sheena's schedule. Perhaps, preceding this show.
