"Sultans of Swing"? Honest to gosh, I have searched for years for another long song, like "Telegraph Road," by Dire Straits that starts out ethereally, atmospherically, you get the gist, then erupts into a forward propelled jam. Maybe it *was* "Telegraph Road"! This is the only album by them I have, but not by design.

anyone here familiar with Al Hazan? One of his songs (Our Love, with the Starr Sisters) popped up in a movie I was watching last night (Fresh). Can't recall ever hearing of him before, but apparently one of his cuts showed up in Stranger Things a while back as well.

hey NGH!

My Metheny story (told before, sorry if you read it).
I was taking jazz guitar lessons (didn't go very far). My teacher had studied with Jim Hall, and he took me to see him at the Village Vanguard during a run there. Between sets he came over to our table, had just played with Metheny. He raved about his chops, but said "he just packs an incredible amount of gear, all those boxes!" which had him a bit bewildered. (Hall actually did start using some effects after that).
