It was the last big hitch hike trip I took. From New Orleans to Champaign-Urbana to Washington DC back to New Orleans. On the leg from DC to NOLA, got a ride from DC to Richmond VA. On the highway coming out of Richmond I got picked up by a woman about my same age (about 30) driving a small school bus 12 or so seater.

After we conversed for a while she said that besides driving a school bus for a private school she had an apple orchard and lived out in the country. After a bit she pulled over and said, "this is my turn off. The apple orchard is up over the hill over there. Why don't you come and help me harvest the apples and stay for a while." Leer leer. She was reasonably attractive. I'm the geeky me that I've always been. Only for a moment I thought, wow, I'm being seduced, then images of many slasher movies people stranded in rural area flashed in my mind, and I said, "sorry I've got an important appointment I'm in a hurry to get to, thanks, bye" and exited and trotted up the road a bit hoping for for a ride fast.

Young girls can be so funny. We were staying with a Dante scholar in Vancouver. Her young daughter asked if 'she could wath us have sexth'(She had a lisp) I said no, but I will draw you a picture of a skeleton driving a car. She forgot all about the sexth, but I had to draw the picture RIGHT NOW!!

It was late. We were someplace in New Jersey. We drove into some woods to camp. They were so creepy we knew if we closed our eyes we would be murdered in our sleeping bags. We slept on the New Jersey Turnpike instead.

I was hitchhiking in the Thai rainforest. No one would give me a ride. They must have thought I was a pi(ghost) because they just looked at me in horror. I finally got a ride from an American in a jeep.
