Calculating the deviance needed to have my ears observe for the next three hours.

Acquired this CD not long ago and a day ago the LP of The Giant Is Awakened arrived.

The first Tapscott records I heard were The Dark Tree v1 and 2 (at one point you couldn't find any others). They remain among my favorites.

Dean:

The Guardian today had a story about a promising group, Ultimate Thunder, the bass player for whom is John Greaves.

https://www.theguardian.com/music/2022/jun/21/the-most-mark-e-smith-thing-ever-the-post-punk-band-whose-members-have-learning-disabilities

My question: Is this Greaves *the* John Greaves of Henry Cow and National Health, etc.?
Avatar 7:38pm
Observations:

Dean - excellent question! I have not read the article, and am unfamiliar with that name, so I don't have an answer, but I will investigate

I mean BAND not name

The Elaine Brown release seems a bit familiar to me, looked it up on discogs. I don't remember the woman with automatic weapon image from the 70s, I think it is from the reissue. I think I remember seeing the black and blue near silhouette photo. I may only have one of the Flying Dutchman sessions Tapscott. So greatly digging this feature.

WR:

Interesting read Dean, and I am sure you know the answer to your question. The article says that the only member of the band without disabilities is the guitarist, James Heselwood, about whom only find web pages referencing the special project featured in your link.

WR:

but is interesting coincidence that both gents named Greaves play bass.
  7:59pm
Dean:

I don't know the answer. It's possible that John Greaves is cognitively impaired, isn't it?
  8:02pm
Dean:

Anyway, I so love Horace Tapscott's music making.

Amen. I remember visiting Poobah in Pasadena and seeing the series of Nimbus West LPs of Tapscott. I now regret not purchasing them. We're talking mid'-'80s. What a grand time.

Is that Lorenzo Milam recording available anywhere online? I just recently did some searching about him and the most that I found was here:
www.krabarchive.com...

Haven't through all of the items on that page, wondering if what you played might come from a speech / presentation that Milam did at the NFCB conference that was in in Telluride, Colorado, June 17, 1976.

Yes, it's on YT, originally from Colorado 1976
