I do like a good commercial. Gives me a chance to get more popcorn.

So much of my watching is MeTV, Antenna TV, and Retro TV, except most of their ads are aimed people on Medicare who are behind on their taxes

Austin Rich:

I could probably start helping you with it, Mark. I'm usually on the hour before my own show, and I don't seem to have many streaming problems.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:06pm
Austin Rich:

I streamed for three hours yesterday, and didn't have any issues.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:08pm
Austin Rich:

Well, stay tuned for my show starting at 9 PM PST (6 PM, EST). In hour two, I intentionally play A COMMERCIAL. It's not exactly the same, but it can start to help with the healing process.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:12pm
Krys O.:

May is another month with five Tuesdays. We could run the ads show then. I don't mind streaming it and running the playlist for you, MarkTime.

We had commercials for Raceway Park in Englishtown, NJ. It had an alien chipmunk laughing. You'd never forget it.

Gotta love Kermit. One of my uncles, who is old enough to have had this name before the Frog existed, is named Kermit. But he was a grumpy uncle who never liked kids.

Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:31pm
Kat in Chicago:

That sounds like an excellent car, Krys
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:31pm
Austin Rich:

Yeah, this is WAY more commercials than I will play in hour two of my show tonight.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:33pm
Austin Rich:

That VO for the MTA ad at the end is very flat. I love it.
Avatar 🎸 8:34pm

The MTA-Baltimore announcer sounds familiar ... some 70s sitcom guy
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:35pm

That Madison Announcer was great, too. So bored.
Avatar 🎸 8:36pm
marktime:

Yes, I am a public transit fan
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:36pm
Kat in Chicago:

Same
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:37pm
Austin Rich:

I only learned to drive a few years ago (I'm 47), and until then, ONLY rode the bus (or rode a bike). I still want to ride my bike again, but now that I can drive, I'm much more mobile than ever, so I do enjoy a good drive now and then.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:38pm
Kat in Chicago:

I'm almost 62 and haven't driven since a few weeks in high school. My reluctance to drive had a LOT to do with me moving to Chicago after college.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:39pm
Krys O.:

I take buses and walk to get around. Those are two things that are highly unusual in Jersey where Joe Piscopo's old joke about "What exit?" is not so far from the truth.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:39pm
Austin Rich:

I only visited Chicago, and we only got rides / took the train. I can't imagine driving around in that town.
Avatar 🎸 8:39pm
marktime:

I got spoiled with CTA and Metra around Chicago ... still getting used to the crappy bus service here in San Bernardino
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:40pm
Austin Rich:

I'm so lucky where I live. Small town, almost no rush hour. But the public transit here is AWFUL, and as a dedicated bus rider, that was unacceptable. I finally learned to drive, so I could go places on the weekends, or after 6 PM.
Avatar 8:40pm
Mr Fab:

I used to love the brand spanking new LA subway, but after the police stopping patrolling it a few years ago, it's basically a rolling homeless shelter. complete with drunken fights, and shopping carts overflowing with garbage. Ah well, it was good while it lasted...
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:41pm
Kat in Chicago:

Riding CTA can be very unpleasant, and is more so right now, but I'll take it over driving/vehicle ownership.
Avatar 8:41pm
Mr Fab:

I've been working from home for so long now, i scarcely go anywhere anymore.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:42pm
Austin Rich:

I mostly work from home. I'm out of the house a couple times a week, at an art supply store. But mostly I'm in the Lava Lamp Lounge.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:42pm
Krys O.:

Metro North is how we traveled into Manhattan from my hometown in Port Chester, NY. Hometown of Ed Sullivan and Lifesavers candy. I remember when the seats were wood and cane.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:43pm
Kat in Chicago:

I have to go in to work on the el/subway but fortunately I've only been going in once a week, or less. Buses usually aren't that bad, depends on the route.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:43pm
Austin Rich:

Kid guilt! The best way to sell something.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:44pm
Kat in Chicago:

Wood and cane seats!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:44pm
Kat in Chicago:

I like seeing the city from a bus window.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:44pm
Krys O.:

Even some of the old NJ Transit trains in the early 80s had those seats, Kat.
Avatar 🎸 8:45pm
marktime:

I lived near the Bryn Mawr L station, but preferred the 147 Lake Shore Drive express for the scenery
Avatar 8:46pm
Mr Fab:

Phoebe Snow? Al Jarreau? When jazz cats had to do rent gigs for squaresville.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:46pm
Kat in Chicago:

I haven't ridden the 147 since I moved from Rogers Park. I did enjoy it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:46pm
Krys O.:

When I was mugged in the Metro in Paris, I decided to take the bus to school instead. It was much better to see the city that way.

Hey, my niece went to Bryn Mawr.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:47pm
Austin Rich:

Both Eugene OR and Portland OR have pretty exceptional public transportation, and I got pretty spoiled being within an hour of anywhere I wanted to go in the wider metro area. But in Salem, you're often waiting for an hour just to get on a very slow bus. It's just very sad. And the locals keep voting down more money to make the buses better... it's sad.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:47pm
Krys O.:

Ha! No matter what, I still think of Patrick Stewart as Sejanus in I, Claudius.
Avatar 8:48pm
Mr Fab:

Gary Owens!!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:48pm
Austin Rich:

OOoooooo. Time to rewatch I, Claudius. I was just talking about that the other day.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:48pm
Austin Rich:

Everyone love Gary Owens.

Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:50pm
Austin Rich:

That's a good deal for those polka hits.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:50pm
Krys O.:

Ah, the Baby Bells.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:52pm
Krys O.:

I'm laughing because there was a longstanding feud in NJ with some people saying that there was no such thing as Central NJ and that it was just North Jersey and South Jersey. It still rages on with some folks.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:52pm
Austin Rich:

That Sean Penn joke is pretty... topical.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:53pm
Krys O.:

Another fun show. Thanks, MarkTime & Don-O!
Avatar 🎸 8:54pm
marktime:

This would have made a bit more sense if the beginning of the show had made it ... this was from a tape I compiled in 1997
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:54pm
Austin Rich:

Yeah, this was a great show! Thanks so much, Mark and Don. All the early 90's references make sense now!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:54pm
Krys O.:

I think you can send the full show to have it archived, MarkTime.
