	♥ 9:48am Jeff Golick: More on that marimba piece, via the bandcamp page: "The percussion pieces are unique from the pieces for strings and winds/voice in that, because percussion instruments are not capable of performing microtonal pitches, the performer is asked to make precise adjustments in rate of attack rather than changing the pitch of the instrument. The interaction between the varying playing speeds and the sine waves creates a sonic environment where the sound is seemingly moving around the room. Presented here by percussionist Sarah Hennies in the original program order specified by Lucier, the four pieces comprise a continued listening experience that is both fascinating and deeply hypnotic. This recording is mixed in such a way that it attempts to recreate the experience of hearing the pieces live as Lucier intended. The sine wave and musician begin at opposite ends of the stage and criss cross over the course of the four pieces, ending with the performer and sine wave having traded locations from left to right (and vice versa). Recommended listening: speakers, no headphones"

	♥ 9:50am Jeff Golick: Yes, I believe stretching will be key for me, too. Need to get yoga tips from Doug. At this point, the stretching has gone from "a nice thing to do" to " essential if I want to remain ambulatory."
	🦀 ♥ 9:51am chresti: I'm standing next to the kitchen counter, where my laptop is. Kind of hunched because it's chilly. Sitting low on a stool and stretching my lower back helps sometimes, Jeff.

	🦀 ♥ 11:13am doctorjazz: I'm always masked at these venues (as is everyone else), and the venues require proof of vaccination and/or a recent test. Hell, I don't have that kind of clearance of everyone who comes to see me at work!

Presently, there is info posted online in Toronto, re. specific movie theatres, for example, where people have contracted Omicron, and the dates they were there. Makes me think twice about joining a throng. But I can certainly understand the desire to see a live show, it's been a long time since I've seen one...a really really long time.

	11:18am still b/p: Attended a choral event yesterday in a large church. No vax checking, but all masked of course, and unexpectedly including masks on all singers except for a one-off solo bit. That caution is good, but must be a most unhappily borne necessity for those vocalists.
	🦀 ♥ 11:19am doctorjazz: I've basically been like a dieter who's fallen off the wagon... Gone to quite a few at this point Yo La Tengo last Sunday (they played a set that would have got in on this show quite well-Ira Kaplan is quite the dissonant, skronk guitar player, didn't realize that. Later in the week the Sun Ra Orchestra guested, Nels Cline on another. Those must have been something).
	11:20am Andres: There are some shows in Toronto in May I was considering purchasing tickets for but now having my doubts. Memories of seeing Pharaoh in 2013 are keeping me warm.

	♥ 11:21am Franco Twinkie: My last show was in February of 2020. It was a big crowded party with live music. Covid was already out there, but most of us were still hazy about the facts. I suspect it was the last party for everyone in that room for awhile.

	♥ 11:21am Jeff Golick: I'm scheduled to attend a pretty big work event on Tuesday night and I'm on the fence about whether to attend. (It's a literary event, but the musical guest is David Murray!)

	♥ 9:48am Jeff Golick: More on that marimba piece, via the bandcamp page: "The percussion pieces are unique from the pieces for strings and winds/voice in that, because percussion instruments are not capable of performing microtonal pitches, the performer is asked to make precise adjustments in rate of attack rather than changing the pitch of the instrument. The interaction between the varying playing speeds and the sine waves creates a sonic environment where the sound is seemingly moving around the room. Presented here by percussionist Sarah Hennies in the original program order specified by Lucier, the four pieces comprise a continued listening experience that is both fascinating and deeply hypnotic. This recording is mixed in such a way that it attempts to recreate the experience of hearing the pieces live as Lucier intended. The sine wave and musician begin at opposite ends of the stage and criss cross over the course of the four pieces, ending with the performer and sine wave having traded locations from left to right (and vice versa). Recommended listening: speakers, no headphones"

Presently, there is info posted online in Toronto, re. specific movie theatres, for example, where people have contracted Omicron, and the dates they were there. Makes me think twice about joining a throng. But I can certainly understand the desire to see a live show, it's been a long time since I've seen one...a really really long time.

	11:18am still b/p: Attended a choral event yesterday in a large church. No vax checking, but all masked of course, and unexpectedly including masks on all singers except for a one-off solo bit. That caution is good, but must be a most unhappily borne necessity for those vocalists.

Gone to quite a few at this point Yo La Tengo last Sunday (they played a set that would have got in on this show quite well-Ira Kaplan is quite the dissonant, skronk guitar player, didn't realize that. Later in the week the Sun Ra Orchestra guested, Nels Cline on another. Those must have been something).
	11:20am Andres: There are some shows in Toronto in May I was considering purchasing tickets for but now having my doubts. Memories of seeing Pharaoh in 2013 are keeping me warm.

	♥ 11:21am Franco Twinkie: My last show was in February of 2020. It was a big crowded party with live music. Covid was already out there, but most of us were still hazy about the facts. I suspect it was the last party for everyone in that room for awhile.
