Some of you may recall MarkTime's fantastic voyage to vintage radio during his guest spot on our old Aloha Friday show. Very happy to welcome him as a regular guest here in The Wiggle Room.

This music sounds better to me than it did forty years ago. Should I be worried?
Avatar 🎸 8:18pm
MarkTime:

Mr. Fab: I was at a motel in Iron Mountain, Michigan, recording some of the local stations. When I got home, I found most of the 45 minutes of the local college station was interrupted by a ham radio enthusiast in or near that motel
Avatar 8:18pm
Otis:

If you start worrying, I will too David. Sounds wonderful here too.
  8:20pm
David in California:

Otis, thanks for the reassurance. Good to see you.
Avatar 🎸 8:20pm

David in California: I would have a lot more tapes of WEZW and like stations, but I mostly avoided them in their heyday
Avatar 8:21pm
Mr Fab:

So ham can cut into FM? Had no idea.
Avatar 8:21pm
Otis:

You too David, hello.

Mark, this sounds so much like the music for Chevrolet in the 70s I have heard on a couple of promotional albums. I feel like driving a station wagon through the Grand Canyon (but maybe not like Clark Griswold in Vacation, whew!)

LOL Mark!

Milwaukee in 1980 was probably not that much different from Milwaukee in 1960.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:27pm
Krys O.:

Come to think of it, twenty years difference wasn't much, but 1980 was 41 years ago.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:27pm
Krys O.:

Is this the Anita Kerr Singers?
Avatar 🎸 8:28pm
MarkTime:

Milwaukee in 1980 still had three major breweries, and still had some decent restaurants on Wisconsin Avenue. I took the bus or train up from Chicago as the drinking age was still 18 in Wisconsin
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:28pm
Krys O.:

Anita was a brilliant arranger, by the way.
Avatar 8:29pm
Mr Fab:

LA kids used to go to Hawaii as a high school grad trip - 18 was the drinking age there, too.

Damn, I'm still on the clock, but this music really has me itchin to hit the fridge for this pack I bought recently: www.calicraft.com...

Elevator Music by Joseph Lanza, can't recommend it enough.
Avatar 8:35pm
spodiodi:

we had older brothers (who were 18 at the time) drive to NJ from Philly whenever we ran out of beer at a party (when NJ was at 18)
Avatar 🎸 8:36pm
MarkTime:

Back-announcing was rare on easy listening stations, at least by 1980. My favorite stations in the 1980s, KABL in Oakland and KNXR up in Rochester, Minnesota still had live jocks who either announced songs before or after they were played
Avatar 8:36pm
