A live, improvised sound collage experiment, going back 28 years, weaving mesmerizing new soundscapes from found and collected materials right in the present moment.
Pop music, speeches, live phone calls and spontaneous monologues become ambient loopy layered threads riding the liminal spaces between waking and dreaming. [On hiatus.] (Visit homepage.)

My uncle's 1975ish cassette deck had a square light source right behind the tape window of the cassette, so you could look into the deck and easily see where the tape was and how fast it was moving.
Of course, there was a counter as well.

I hope one of the new features cross references player-time with comment-time. I noticed I'm less interested in reading archived comments when I know nobody is there to respond if I joined in. If someone types on an archive, and nobody is there to hear it, does it make a comment? Maybe that's one of the new features? I finished listening to the show yesterday, but am posting all my comments together now. There are dependencies, but the exact timing is indeterminate.

Hey! How did I comment on a show I haven't heard yet? Thankfully nobody responded because I wasn't there. Especially good luck I didn't comment on the computer related samples. I wonder how many times Hollywood tried (and failed) to remake War Games? Seems overdue. Shall we play a game?

Timezones was my gateway Negativland song. This was a formative record for me, I tried to emulate this aesthetic in my Tullis & Clark stuff. To me, Timezones is timeless (no pun intended), it holds up so well.

It's an odd term, but a person who breaks things is a "broker", and hello (goodbye) to you too. Happy Standard Time!
Avatar 11:16am
Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Droll, I've been wanting to do that for a long, long time. And my concept for how to make it happen is quite exciting.
Hello to my idea guy and my housekeeper, and "thanks to my whole team!"

P.S. I'm pretty sure Hollywood is right now or has just recently made an actual remake of War Games. Your sad wish has come true. I think the whole cast just stays home and texts each other.

The Negativland record was a request from a listener, oh, two weeks ago? In a different timeslot than this one, no less.
