Welcome! I'm in an online Japanese class. I'll be back in a bit. In the meantime, enjoy the intro music :)

Mr Fab:

was that the Ventures? Or some Nipponese folk?
Avatar 2:32pm
BC Sterrett:

The Ventures were earlier doing a Japanese track, and they may have been them as well for the opening credits of the documentary after segments of Japanese bands influenced by them.
Avatar 2:39pm
BC Sterrett:

Things are about to get a little crazy

Avatar 2:42pm
Mr Fab:

they were the Japanese Butthole Surfers. One of the few "rock" albums i bought in the grungy '90s was by them
Avatar 2:46pm
BC Sterrett:

I've heard said that the title of this song was the beginning of a typo but they were too lazy to change it.
Avatar 2:50pm
BC Sterrett:

Japanese Death Metal - Not really my genre, but it was interesting to explore for this segment.
Avatar 2:52pm
Mr Fab:

yeah, its cool to finally hear all the stuff Jello was talking about
Avatar 2:54pm
BC Sterrett:

I agree. I want to this to be a reference to people reading

Rich in Washington:

GISM was incredible for song and album titles alone. I also really liked Execute. I really got into Japcore in the mid 80s. The late great Pig Champion (of Poison Idea) used to play a lot of great foreign Hardcore on his sporadic KBOO radio shows.
Avatar 2:55pm
BC Sterrett:

Animonkey, some Japanese girl bands coming up soon!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:55pm
Rich in Washington:

That 80s Cyberpunk film with The Stalin in it is really nuts and worth checking out. Blanking on the title. Burst City?
Avatar 3:02pm

Foreign film?

Thanks MB. I like that it allows me to explore these themes a bit more.

This should be an ice cream truck song! Ha!
Avatar 3:20pm

I wish Ice Cream truck drivers could choose creative music. My friend got fired for playing Elvis.

Papaya Paranoia, ha! Dang, wonder what i did with my list i compiled of fave japanese band names.

"I Want to Flapple and Train" Yeah, er, well we all do sometimes, but I don't need to hear about, 'nkay?

Did you explore the antique malls? Maybe the only good thing in town, and the deceptively blandly named Pita House.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:45pm

Oh, and I finally watched all of Hausu last night for the first time. Insane. Every goddamned frame, from start to finish.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:47pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Rich - Mad, isn't it? :-) I still have no idea what I watched but I loved it :-) I did a double bill of that in Brighton about 5 years ago :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:49pm
Rich in Washington:

i think I need to watch it again. I was half asleep and kept waking up going 'what the...?'. Probably my favorite way to watch horror movies, especially surreal ones.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:52pm

@Rich - I loved the soundtrack as well :-)
