Avatar 9/1 8:26pm BC Sterrett:

Welcome! I'm in an online Japanese class. I'll be back in a bit. In the meantime, enjoy the intro music :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:43pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Hi, lovely! I have some editing to do so will catch you later on in the show :-) Speak later! :-) <3
Avatar 2:03pm Mr Fab:

As Chet Baker sang, Let's get LOST
Avatar 2:03pm solo mon:

HeRe fischy fischy fischy. Now where is that fisch... That went wherever I did go.
Avatar 2:15pm Mr Fab:

if this is really gonna be all Japanese stuff, Spacebrother Greg's gotta be here.
Avatar 2:18pm BC Sterrett:

Yes it is :)
Avatar 2:22pm BC Sterrett:

Sorry about the short wait.
  2:26pm animonkey:

Im reading up on him right now! Do you have his secret Justin Heathcliff stuff?
Avatar 2:28pm BC Sterrett:

I do not! I'd like to though :)
Avatar 2:29pm BC Sterrett:

This first section is mainly about Japanese surf
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:29pm GS Gotis Sounds:

Catching this wave, hey all!
Avatar 2:30pm BC Sterrett:

Hey there GS!
Avatar 2:30pm Martinibomb:

ello BC Sterrett
Avatar 2:30pm Mr Fab:

was that the Ventures? Or some Nipponese folk?
Avatar 2:32pm BC Sterrett:

The Ventures were earlier doing a Japanese track, and they may have been them as well for the opening credits of the documentary after segments of Japanese bands influenced by them.
Avatar 2:39pm BC Sterrett:

Things are about to get a little crazy
Avatar 2:40pm Mr Fab:

that Takeshi Terauchi was absolutely wonderful
Avatar 2:40pm BC Sterrett:

Jello's segment on Japanese metal music
  2:41pm animonkey:

Boredoms so gooood
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:41pm Rich in Washington:

Avatar 2:42pm Mr Fab:

they were the Japanese Butthole Surfers. One of the few "rock" albums i bought in the grungy '90s was by them
Avatar 2:46pm BC Sterrett:

I've heard said that the title of this song was the beginning of a typo but they were too lazy to change it.
Avatar 2:50pm BC Sterrett:

Japanese Death Metal - Not really my genre, but it was interesting to explore for this segment.
Avatar 2:52pm Mr Fab:

yeah, its cool to finally hear all the stuff Jello was talking about
Avatar 2:54pm BC Sterrett:

I agree. I want to this to be a reference to people reading
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54pm Rich in Washington:

GISM was incredible for song and album titles alone. I also really liked Execute. I really got into Japcore in the mid 80s. The late great Pig Champion (of Poison Idea) used to play a lot of great foreign Hardcore on his sporadic KBOO radio shows.
Avatar 2:55pm BC Sterrett:

Animonkey, some Japanese girl bands coming up soon!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:55pm Rich in Washington:

That 80s Cyberpunk film with The Stalin in it is really nuts and worth checking out. Blanking on the title. Burst City?
Avatar 3:02pm BC Sterrett:

Foreign film?
Avatar 3:04pm chresti:

Hi BC and peepo!
Avatar 3:04pm BC Sterrett:

Hi Chresti!
Avatar 3:08pm Martinibomb:

I like having you on for 2hrs waaaaay better than 2 separate 1hr shows.
Avatar 3:09pm Martinibomb:

I can get some work done.. check into the chat etc.. and everything is good.
Avatar 3:10pm BC Sterrett:

Thanks MB. I like that it allows me to explore these themes a bit more.
Avatar 3:18pm Rush-Shell:

This should be an ice cream truck song! Ha!
Avatar 3:20pm BC Sterrett:

I wish Ice Cream truck drivers could choose creative music. My friend got fired for playing Elvis.
Avatar 3:23pm Mr Fab:

Papaya Paranoia, ha! Dang, wonder what i did with my list i compiled of fave japanese band names.
Avatar 3:25pm Rush-Shell:

Need a private ice cream truck! I've always wanted one :)
Avatar 3:25pm Mr Fab:

"I Want to Flapple and Train" Yeah, er, well we all do sometimes, but I don't need to hear about, 'nkay?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:27pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Hi! In and out of various rooms getting stuff set up for the show, cooking etc, so no chat but listening in the background :-)
Avatar 3:28pm BC Sterrett:

All good GG :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Avatar 3:32pm BC Sterrett:

Always rude when TV shows talk over your music when you're just getting started!
Avatar 3:42pm Mr Fab:

Shonen Knife? Foetus? Making me very happy here, BC.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:42pm Rich in Washington:

@solo: you survived Battle Ground! Yay!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:44pm Rich in Washington:

Did you explore the antique malls? Maybe the only good thing in town, and the deceptively blandly named Pita House.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:45pm Rich in Washington:

Oh, and I finally watched all of Hausu last night for the first time. Insane. Every goddamned frame, from start to finish.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:47pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Rich - Mad, isn't it? :-) I still have no idea what I watched but I loved it :-) I did a double bill of that in Brighton about 5 years ago :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:49pm Rich in Washington:

i think I need to watch it again. I was half asleep and kept waking up going 'what the...?'. Probably my favorite way to watch horror movies, especially surreal ones.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:52pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Rich - I loved the soundtrack as well :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:52pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@BC - This show is FANTASTIC by the way :-) <3
Avatar 3:54pm BC Sterrett:

Thanks GG :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:56pm Rich in Washington:

This was great! A fun part of the book. I could listen/read Jello talking about other people's music forever.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:57pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Thank you BC! Loved this :-)
Avatar 4:00pm BC Sterrett:

Stay tuned for the Flange and Frigget! Did I spell that right? with DJ Georgy Girl :)
