I'm actually doing a bunch of other work today so I pre-recorded this show late last night.. was getting pretty sleepy toward the end.
Avatar 4:02pm
worldsworstrecords:

I saw... I'm sure it'll be a blinding show: the track listing looks ace
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:02pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Well, I will hear the sleepy part at breakfast tomorrow! LOL
  4:02pm
Martinibomb:

Plus it's kinda fun for me to get to listen to myself

Avatar 4:07pm

@Worlds Worst check this link out? www.youtube.com...
  4:09pm
Martinibomb:

I met this guy, "My Robot Friend" who's doing this song I'm playing --- he lives in NYC. I met up with him for breakfast and he wore a pretty cool devil horned knitted hat.

Got it from that youtube link that user has a bunch of cool stuff. Met him on the strange/unusual group.
Avatar 4:16pm
worldsworstrecords:

i'll check him out
  4:17pm
Martinibomb:

he was kinda kidding with me about wanting to do a show here but looking at his youtube he'd be a great addition heh
Avatar 4:19pm
Linda Lee:

how does that happen, MB?
Avatar 4:21pm
Linda Lee:

honestly have no idea! audition tape? interview over cocktails? extrasensory communication?
Avatar 4:21pm
worldsworstrecords:

Haha! I was headhunted by Mr Fab
Avatar 4:21pm
Otis Fodder:

Back from the grocery, Sheena stream still on, piped through the rooms.
Avatar 4:22pm
Linda Lee:

really! :-)
  4:22pm
Martinibomb:

Hey Otis,Linda!
Avatar 4:22pm
worldsworstrecords:

He would be the ebst person to talk to if you were interested. Linda
  4:24pm
Martinibomb:

@Linda yep Mr Fab is the one to send your demo tapes to heh
Avatar 4:25pm
Linda Lee:

me? no, i'm not headed that way yet. my entire life is now under renovation. not the time to take on a new obligation, even if I were invited. i've always been curious though.
Avatar 4:25pm
Otis Fodder:

I was also headhunted by Fab. Oh, the arduous interview process.
  4:25pm
Martinibomb:

a weekly show is hard and it's way more fun to listen to other peoples shows
Avatar 4:26pm
Linda Lee:

really?
Avatar 4:26pm
Linda Lee:

what's hardest, do you think?
Avatar 4:27pm
worldsworstrecords:

Yeah, finding new stuff to play every week isn't easy!
Avatar 4:27pm
Otis Fodder:

Waking up in time for the show. Ha.
  4:27pm
Martinibomb:

Djn is hard work for sure. I'm always tired after I get done
Avatar 4:27pm
Linda Lee:

ha! I hear that. especially on a Sunday. :-)
Avatar 4:28pm
Linda Lee:

is it the performance bit? that you're 'on' for the duration?
Avatar 4:29pm
Otis Fodder:

In reality, hardest part for me was (and getting better at it now) hitting the playlist timing just right when lining up physical media. Now I do a 10-second or so click, even if it's just the artist (so I don't ever have to re-listen or go timestamp, just move on).
  4:29pm
Martinibomb:

maybe in my case because I have a standing system?
Avatar 4:31pm
Linda Lee:

i get the standing. sure.
haven't even considered the playlist part!
Avatar 4:31pm
Linda Lee:

hmm... the 'now playing' selection over the playlist isn't working today.
  4:32pm
Martinibomb:

I pre-recorded this last night and entered the playlist -- one o the downsides
Avatar 4:32pm
worldsworstrecords:

That's because MB put the whole playlist up in advance, rather than as each song plays
Avatar 4:32pm
Linda Lee:

what is this, MB?
Avatar 4:33pm
worldsworstrecords:

Jinx!
Avatar 4:33pm
Otis Fodder:

I find it much easier live though personally. When it was pre-recorded I spent more time weekly putting the show together (as I could always go back and edit). Now my only pre-planning is finding a show title, an image, and be sure I have stacks of vinyl/cds (and sometimes digital) ready to go. Need to play more tapes too!
  4:33pm
Martinibomb:

I'm working on a project and I knew I couldn't do both at once heh but I can kinda monitor the chat.
  4:33pm
Martinibomb:

This is Spiritualized doing a cover of Spacemen 3 song
Avatar 4:34pm
Linda Lee:

understood for sure.
thanks! great track.
  4:34pm
Martinibomb:

@Otis I pre-recorded it *live* I didn't pick out anything before hand so it took me exactly 3hrs to do it.
  4:35pm
Martinibomb:

@Otis and agree just recording it or doing it live is faster than trying to edit a show. I'd spend double the amount of time
Avatar 4:35pm
Otis Fodder:

That's how I did more of my shows as well... but always found myself thinking a lot about it being pre-recorded.
Avatar 4:35pm
Otis Fodder:

Always takes more time as you have to pre-record for 3 hours and then spend 3 hours watching the playlist. Double.
  4:36pm
Martinibomb:

I also think my live stuff is better even if there's mistakes the freeform just picking music as you go kinda works well for me.
Avatar 4:38pm
Otis Fodder:

Whatever is most comfy though. I agree, always like the live freeform, hit go and go. Like now, all I have to do for Sunday is just pick a playlist image and a show title and be here on time. Waking up is tough (or getting home after a long night).
  4:38pm
Martinibomb:

I'm juggling a few projects right now. Will drop in the playlist every 30min or so see how it' s going. I'm listening along with y'll and thanks for listening.
Avatar 4:40pm
Linda Lee:

loving the set, MB! beautiful.
Avatar 4:41pm
Linda Lee:

that's the thing about Sunday, right?
Avatar 4:43pm
Otis Fodder:

Oh yes, lazy day. Perfect day (for me) for the show. Everything is a bit slower here.
Avatar 4:43pm
Mr Fab:

(back from lunch) Linda, I recruited DJs initially from ones i knew from the past (Otis and I go back like spinal column). Rich, Darryl, Spacebrother and Don-O i knew from my blogging days. Otis recommended some folks like Georgy, Rich recommended martinibomb.
Avatar 4:45pm
Linda Lee:

very cool. love hearing the backstory to the amazing radio i'm hearing. and depend on!
Avatar 4:45pm
Mr Fab:

and Martinibomb recommended Ursula 1000. Becky the Holy Tonk Radio Gal from the main broadcast channel recommended DJ ARB. And so on, and so forth..
Avatar 4:45pm
Mr Fab:

oh, and Otis recommended Jan, too.
Avatar 4:46pm
Linda Lee:

fabulous.
the sense of a tribe is strong. now i see! :-)
Avatar 4:46pm
Mr Fab:

and Georgy recommended Danny's "Record Roulette Club"! Is that everyone? Ha ha. I'm still contacting folks, too.
Avatar 4:46pm
Otis Fodder:

Oh yea, fill up that schedule with goodness Fab.
Avatar 4:48pm
Linda Lee:

the Sheena stream really is fabulous. i love it. i love the Djs most.
Avatar 4:49pm
Linda Lee:

i'd love seeing the family grow.
Avatar 4:51pm
Mr Fab:

and we love you! If we didn't have an appreciative audience, wouldn't be much point to this crazy contraption.
Avatar 4:54pm
Linda Lee:

just now recommended the show to someone I know from the mothership chat board. always driving traffic this way. that's my mission. people who love music should know Sheena's.
thanks for the love, Mister F! :-D
Avatar 4:57pm
Linda Lee:

I love the gentle people track. superb.
Avatar 4:59pm
Linda Lee:

oh dear! just lost my left channel!
Avatar 4:59pm
Linda Lee:

let's try a reboot.
Avatar 5:00pm
Mr Fab:

yeah, it went out in one channel near the start of the who, but came back
  5:04pm
Martinibomb:

ANy complaints so far?
  5:05pm
Martinibomb:

ah it's back hmm.. okay
  5:05pm
Martinibomb:

Well this was off a crusty record and I remember it had a hairball going last night so that's probably the issue
  5:08pm
Martinibomb:

speaking of which I think there might be some "Dead Air" coming up. Not to alarm anyone.. it does happen. I just keep the tapes rolling
  5:09pm
Martinibomb:

Will happen around the 90min mark
Avatar 5:10pm
Mr Fab:

Both channels loud n clear.
Avatar 5:12pm
Linda Lee:

rebooting!
Avatar 5:13pm
Linda Lee:

sound! sound!!
  5:14pm
Martinibomb:

@Linda the issue was on my end ;-/
Avatar 5:14pm
Linda Lee:

it's beautiful now. I'm loving this Paniks tune!
Avatar 5:15pm
Linda Lee:

what a gem!
Avatar 5:17pm
Mr Fab:

Did Andy Kaufman actually release that? That was cool.
  5:18pm
Martinibomb:

He did not release it himself I got it on vinyl 10yrs ago as some kind of official release?
  5:19pm
Martinibomb:

It's a whole album of andy and his grandmother literally
Avatar 5:21pm
Mr Fab:

Ha, so great.

What was the steel guitar-ish instro?
Avatar 5:22pm
Otis Fodder:

Avatar 5:30pm
Mr Fab:

Avatar 5:30pm
Linda Lee:

I find this really amusing.
  5:31pm
Martinibomb:

Avatar 5:32pm
Mr Fab:

This is genius. I love how that one track was *almost* the BeeGees.
Avatar 5:32pm
Linda Lee:

Avatar 5:33pm
Linda Lee:

  5:33pm
Martinibomb:

Avatar 5:33pm

Avatar 5:35pm
Linda Lee:

I hear a lot of tapping over some type of low rolling hum, like the sound of air heat coming up through the floor grates. really interesting.
Avatar 5:35pm
Linda Lee:

oh! it changed!
  5:36pm
Martinibomb:
