Julie! i remember when moviegoers found the violence in 'Clockwork Orange' incredibly disturbing. mild stuff relative to what's given out today, i suspect.

Fanny was absolutely amazing. the first all female band to be offered a recording contract for a full LP. amazing musicians, for sure. they put many of the guys of the time to real shame. Bowie was a big fan! he told Rolling Stone in 95 that they were incredibly important & incredibly good.

Hey, Guys! Julie has heard about this, but I don't know if y'all have heard – we're doing a migration of the server which hosts these playlists, so things will get funny (as in, the playlist just dropping dead and going missing) for... as short a time as Kenzo and I can manage, starting very near 3PM Eastern.

Avatar 🦇 4:13pm
Julie:

these originals make me so happy
  4:16pm
Mark R:

"Originals" I thought really shed light on some of these songs. I liked "Nothing Compares 2U" a lot.
  4:18pm
Mark R:

Speaking of "Lost in Space," I wonder if that Dr. Smith guy ever cut a vanity record, a la Shatner.
Avatar 🦇 4:19pm
Julie:

oh I wouldn't be surprised
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:21pm
Dropof Goldensun:

Oh the pain!
  4:24pm
Mark R:

I actually prefer the instrumental--I can better appreciate Brian's cool arrangements. I also read that the label kind of "suggested" that they include this song on the album because they didn't hear a single on "Pet Sounds" as it was. But I think "Wouldn't It Be Nice" or "God Only Knows" would have both been smash singles. I guess they were also afraid of any song with "God" in the title, unless it was like, "Praise God" or something.
  4:26pm
Mark R:

See Drop-of, we've already got a title! I bet you and I could knock that one off faster than John & Paul cranked out "I Wanna Be Your Man" while the Stones waited.
Avatar 🦇 4:28pm
Julie:

there is a fab french version of Sloop John B I play sometimes by a female artist
