A two-hour exploration of excavations from the farthest reaches of humanity's hellish collective brain, through records, tapes, CDs, mostly scoured from country bumpkin thrift stores, creepy charity shops, backwoods junk stores, and even the internet - all mixed live. We don't judge, we just play 'em. Hosted by Rich in Washington.

Avatar 7:04pm Mr Fab:

Ahoy, fellow diggers!
This ad is quite the contrast to the hyper Vox wah-wah pedal ad: "It's the NOW sound, it's what's happenin!!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:04pm Rich in Washington:

Mr. Fab!
Avatar 7:05pm geezerette:

don't fret.
Avatar 7:07pm Don-O:

How Now Sound Is Now?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:07pm Rich in Washington:

follow along with your diagram. You may need a sixth finger.
Avatar 7:07pm Don-O:

How Now Sound Is Now?!
Avatar 7:07pm geezerette:

like learning to dance with foot placement diagram.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:08pm Rich in Washington:

like Hound Dog Taylor.
Avatar 7:09pm Mr Fab:

great mixing, Rich
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:09pm Hopey Sockmonkey:

Oh dang, I just got a flashback of having to learn Carnival of Venice when I was in elementary school band.
Avatar 7:09pm Mr Fab:

your mic put thru fuzz-tone?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:10pm Rich in Washington:

sure sounds like it. FML. Having mixer issues. Hopefully not too terrible.
Avatar 7:11pm grantbob:

So ahead of their time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:11pm Rich in Washington:

first thing I did when I got this record was to play it too slow.
Avatar 7:11pm Mayuko:

Hello! Been listening since The Hour of Crap but couldn't comment because I was walking outside. But thoroughly enjoying the stream!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:11pm Rich in Washington:

Mayuko! Glad you could tune in!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:12pm Otis Fodder:

Listening and diggin' (double entendre for the diggin')

Avatar 7:15pm geezerette:

Hi Mayuko! I listen to your show in archive, miss hearing it in real time!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:15pm Rich in Washington:

I think a lot of us were scolded by our parents for doing weird things with records and we just never grew out of it. I can only speak for myself, of course.
Avatar 7:15pm Don-O:

echoECHOechoECHOecho....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:16pm Rich in Washington:

What?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:18pm Rich in Washington:

Here's the cover to this record: img.discogs.com...

Avatar 7:22pm geezerette:

Scary album cover!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:22pm Rich in Washington:

Linda Lee! So glad you could join us!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:22pm Rich in Washington:

I am drawn to any self-produced record with a badly drawn cover.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:23pm Linda Lee:

thanks, Rich! thrilled to be here, believe me!
Avatar 7:24pm geezerette:

Understandable,Rich!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:24pm Rich in Washington:

PARTYYY!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:25pm Linda Lee:

i'm drawn to the poorly drawn too!
Avatar 7:26pm geezerette:

Perfect martini-shaker music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:26pm Rich in Washington:

I was obsessed with that tornado comment guy the other day. People are getting exponentially dumber every day. It's kind of scary.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:26pm Rich in Washington:

I can't find my record with Doug Kahn's Reagan Speaks For Himself on it. It's upsetting, sort of.
Avatar 7:27pm geezerette:

Tons of artists saw the future in the Ray-gun era.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:29pm Linda Lee:

it wasn't hard to imagine.
Avatar 7:32pm geezerette:

I know, totally marginalized by mainstream.
Avatar 7:33pm geezerette:

This is fantastic!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:33pm Linda Lee:

the captain is ravin'! i had fun doing this kind of thing as a youngster in the early 80s. wish i still had the tapes!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:33pm Rich in Washington:

The 80s/Reagan era sure made for some interesting music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:34pm Rich in Washington:

This originally came out in 1979 on Twin Tone Records. It's been unobtainable until 2012 or so. This reissue is incredible, like double the material of the original.
Avatar 7:35pm geezerette:

Loved the humor.

Linda, those tapes must have been great!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:36pm Rich in Washington:

LL: yes. I also did lots of crazy things with tapes. I had no idea it was a thing. Just me being weird.
Avatar 7:36pm geezerette:

Reissue! Yay!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:38pm Rich in Washington:

This is for you, Don-O!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:40pm Linda Lee:

somewhere those sounds still exist, i guess! :-) for me it really was like firewood, which warms you twice (processing & burning) ~ with a better return on investment! don't forget, we had more empty time than the youth do now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:41pm Linda Lee:

much media was personal.
Avatar 7:41pm CC:

Watch out for skinny blonde people with real big blue eyes that turn red ... occasionally..!..:)0(:...
Avatar 7:42pm Mr Fab:

Why were so many inept lounge acts drawn to 'Proud Mary"?What did that poor song do to deserve such treatment?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:42pm Rich in Washington:

I still have boxes and boxes of tapes, mainly tapes of radio shows from the 80s.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:43pm Rich in Washington:

I don't know, Mr. Fab, but your mention of this the other day inspired me to play that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:44pm Linda Lee:

wow!!! lucky you! i've moved around too much.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:44pm Linda Lee:

you could do some great stuff with those.
Avatar 7:44pm geezerette:

Imagining what people who danced to this looked like.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:45pm Linda Lee:

Nina!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:46pm Linda Lee:

i'm cheered up immeasurably!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:47pm Rich in Washington:

I love Nina. Her music has the same effect on my as well.
Avatar 7:48pm Mr Fab:

"Nunsexmonkrock" is a masterpiece. THERE, I said it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:48pm Linda Lee:

i don't think i'll ever forget first hearing 'TV-Glotzer'! just marvelous.
Avatar 7:50pm Mr Fab:

Fun-to-know Fact: a pre-Letterman Paul Schaffer was on keys
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:51pm Rich in Washington:

Whoa! I had no idea!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:52pm Linda Lee:

fresh off of SNL, was he?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:52pm Rich in Washington:

Paul's an interesting cat. He's on a lot of stuff. I think he was involved with Link Wray's 70s song Switchblade.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:53pm Linda Lee:

this Laibach is marvelous too. loved the original new.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:54pm Linda Lee:
