Avatar 12:02pm Mayuko:

Good afternoon, my radio family fred! Hallos james, and Dave B! How you been?! Happy to know you're around!
Avatar 12:03pm Mayuko:

Good morning, chresti! Happy to have you here!
  12:06pm Dave B.:

I have been good Mayuko, and I hope you have been as well. A get together is long over due. Movies on the roof NEXT Saturday!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:08pm Dropof Goldensun:

Greetings Mayuko and Listenerds!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:09pm chresti:

Very happy to be here and be awake!
  12:10pm JosephB:

Hello Mayuko, Dropof, Dave B., Chresti, James, and Fred! Glad I managed to wake up in time for the show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12pm fred:

I got my second batch of booking tickets for next year done today. Which brings me to 42 dance shows, and 7 music ones, 6 of the latter on Saturdays, sadly (mostly Indian music, but also a sankyoku performance)
  12:12pm Dave B.:

Chresti - every day above ground is a good day
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13pm fred:

@Dave B: Amen to that (I work underground)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm tmoyo:

Hi Mayuko & all! Checking in before hitting the pillows. Sadly with my new schedule its hard for me to stay up late.

Fred, that's an insane amount... I hope I had the energy! But I'm going to see Zazen Boys next week.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm chresti:

Dave B- Extra good with Mayuko and Play Vertigo!
  12:15pm Dave B.:

Totes
  12:16pm JosephB:

Tmoyo! Ohisashiburi. Too bad about your new schedule.
  12:18pm rw:

Good morning! Balloon noose, huh?

Hey Joe!

Good night tmoyo!
  12:18pm rw:

Or is it a noose balloon?
Avatar 12:20pm Mayuko:

@Dave B I might be doing something that weekend - but I'll let you know if I can make it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20pm maestroso:

Hallo Mayuko! As is usual, I'll be listening whilst driving to the record store!
Avatar 12:21pm Mayuko:

Hola, Dropof!! Hallos Joe B! I'm so grateful that you guys all wake up so early on Saturday mornings!!!
  12:21pm Dave B.:

The first of the season. There will be more!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21pm Dropof Goldensun:

Dome is so good! Great track!
Avatar 12:22pm Mayuko:

So great to have you here, tmoyo! & man I wanna see Zazen Boys live too!!!
Avatar 12:23pm Mayuko:

Good morning, rw! & thanks for listening, maestroso!!
Avatar 12:24pm Mayuko:

@Dropof SO GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Avatar 12:28pm Mayuko:

@fred In a way it's too bad they don't give you paper tickets these days - you could have made a huge, HUGE scrap books of tickets which would be like a history book of some kind.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm fred:

@tmoyo: I'd love to see Zazen Boys, but they don't seem to tour much over here. But I managed to beg a ticket to a sold out Matmos show two weeks from now, so I can't complain (and I hope to see Daniel Menche next month too)
  12:29pm rw:

It's okay to eat moldy blueberries, right? And agreed about Dome.
Avatar 12:30pm Mayuko:

@rw depends on what the threshold of "okay" is?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm fred:

@Mayuko: I do get paper tickets for most of these shows (and print ones for the rest) because I don't have a phone. I think I'll have to get one soon though, it's getting harder to get away with not having one
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Greetings, Players.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm fred:

I liked That Kukangendai track, new to me
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34pm Michael 98145:

good day, all
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34pm Dave in Vermont:

seems like a noose balloon might be good for your posture
  12:35pm JosephB:

@rw Hey! Did you eat the blueberries?
  12:36pm rw:

fred, you must have quite a collection. How are they organized? Shoe box? 3 ring binders? I have a bowl in my kitchen full of ticket stubs and stuff like that.

Joe, I'm trying to pick around the bad ones.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36pm fred:

But since Ideologic Organ often has shows at my fave venue, maybe I'll see Kukangendai again in the nearish future
  12:37pm P-90:

Listening from the rainy midwest this week, excellent music for a moody morning on the prairie. Greetings Mayuko and Vertighosts!
  12:37pm rw:

And Joe, good seeing you yesterday! How was your drive home in Friday before Memorial Day weekend traffic?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:39pm Granny Spicy Tuna:

tingaling!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:39pm Michael 98145:

* ding *
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:39pm Dave in Vermont:

Is Mary Wing here?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:39pm Michael 98145:

in the wings
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40pm melinda:

howdy Mayuko and all
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:42pm fred:

@rw: Like my book and records and T-shirts, they're "organized" in piles (I don't have much in the way of furniture, I unhinge a door when I need a table)
Avatar 12:42pm Mayuko:

@fred Ha! Think you should do something with that pile of tickets if you haven't done yet!

Kukangendai apparently collaborated with Ryuichi Sakamoto last year or so.
I think I forgot to comment last week but I was thinking that the harpsichord guy was more of a fun of Ryuichi made perfect sense. since most of Ryuichi's track really sound like they were composed by a keyboard player / pianist no matter what instrument he's employing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43pm chresti:

Dave in Vermont- noose balloon neck stretch
Avatar 12:43pm Mayuko:

Hi Ken, Michael 98145, and Dave in VT! Thanks for tuning in!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44pm Michael 98145:

liking this
  12:44pm JosephB:

@rw Likewise! My drive home was typical. Did you get stuck in traffic?
  12:46pm rw:

Holy crap. 2 hrs, 20 min! I think KG owes me a bowl!
Avatar 12:47pm Mayuko:

@fred ah you were saying THAT track was new to you, sorry. I'd only read about them in Japanese news but hadn't really checked out the music until this release.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47pm Michael 98145:

campsite : astralindustries.bandcamp.com...
  12:48pm P-90:

@Mayuko: smart observation that Sakamoto tends to compose in the “voice” of a keyboard player.
Avatar 12:48pm Mayuko:

Hey thanks for tuning in, P-90! You'll be in midwest for a while?!
Avatar 12:49pm northguineahills:

Here for a bit, Mayuko! Don't think I have this Wire Tapper. Haven't renewed my subscription I've had since I was 20 years old, but, I have a good 14 issues to get through before it becomes a problem. Just went for a nice walk.
Avatar 12:50pm Mayuko:

Hi Granny Spicy Tuna! & melinda! Happy to have you guys here!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51pm Dave in Vermont:

P-90 what midwest are you in? I will be in StL for a week in a few weeks and need inexpensive things to do to get away from the people I am going to visit.
  12:52pm P-90:

I’ll be in the Chicago area for another week or so, but I’ll be back in time for Mr. Finewine’s anniversary dance at Monty Hall. And some beautiful June days in Central Park, I hope.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:52pm Granny Spicy Tuna:

Hey, Mayuko, glad to be hear now, listening to these lovely oddities

@Mayuko: I remember you telling me Kukangendai were from a fancy art school when I first saw them (with Gozo Yoshimasu). I'd love to see them again, that new record sounds good

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04pm melinda:

And that was 27 years ago. I still miss him every day
  1:08pm rw:

Oh, man. Sorry Dave B.
Avatar 1:08pm Franco Twinkie:

Listen Mayuko, You're just have to work harder at evading adult responsibilities. Once you can say FUCK YOU to all the crap that being a grown-up entails, the struggle becomes a little easier. But you have to work at it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09pm Dave Sewelson:

No one has ever seen this day before...
  1:09pm JosephB:

@Dave B I'm so sorry you had to go through that. I can't imagine.
  1:09pm Dave B.:

Mayuko, go take another orbit around the sun
Avatar 1:09pm coelacanth∅:

Mayuko we're all very Thankful that you've had a change of plan.
and i'm glad we've all made it this far
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11pm melinda:

I'm sorry Dave. That's rough.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11pm fred:

My own response to suicidal thoughts is that I'm going to die anyway, so why rush it? Art, even - maybe especially - not great, is reason enough to want to experience more (going to student exhibitions at the local art school is a high)
Avatar 1:11pm coelacanth∅:

Dave i'm sorry to hear that
my condolences (it's never too late for that)
  1:11pm Jack:

Mayuko:
I salute your courage for speaking about the dark side. I have faced this as well.
I love you for your honesty.
Just keep the Black Dog away...
Happy Birthday...the best is yet to come.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:12pm chresti:

Dave B-!!! sorry!
  1:12pm Dave B.:

Its all good, and thanks vertigonians. This day, this moment is where to live. Not ruminating about the past or worrying about the future
  1:13pm rw:

So, Mayuko, not to change the subject or anything but how are the 4th graders? Have you been back?
Avatar 1:14pm coelacanth∅:

my older brother checked out young also, by his own choice.
he said goodbye to me in a dream 2 days before my younger sister found him.
  1:14pm JosephB:

@Dave B I tell myself that all the time! And Fred is right -- art is a great way to stay in the present.
Avatar 1:15pm Sem:

Hello, Mayuko, and the friends of Play Vertigo!
  1:15pm JosephB:

@Coel I'm so sorry to hear that.
  1:15pm rw:

Joe B, Art won't let me leave the present.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:20pm doctorjazz:

Hi all!
Avatar 1:20pm Mayuko:

I knew I wasn't the only one feeling about never turning 40 or whatever age. I just never really hear anyone talking about it, so I'm glad you're telling me your cases. And I am sorry that some indeed didn't survive.
Avatar 1:22pm Franco Twinkie:

....Fer example: I've got a stack of bills all the way to the ceiling that are demanding my attention, but instead of opening all those boring envelopes on this holiday weekend, I've decided to have toast and draw a funny picture. Are there consequences? Of course! But the fact is, if I don't have enough energy to be someone else's idea of a stand-up guy, and the person I need to be.
  1:22pm Rickwaukee:

When we were in HS, my brother sat down next to me on my bed with a shotgun under his chin and said "Pull it. Pull it." while I was watching SCTV - he was looking for me to stop him and I was pretty gosh darn glad I was able to.
Avatar 1:24pm coelacanth∅:

Dave i admire your approach to it. maybe i can try that
Avatar 1:24pm Mayuko:

@david w! I was just listening to that amazing recording you did of Danger's Rainbow
by Snake Union this past week - was thinking of playing that here - then figured people can just listen to your show, haha. Might still play it though!!
Avatar 1:25pm northguineahills:

I was going through a rough passage 3.5 years ago. I friend of mine, who I thought had everything, a brilliant musician/artist who had both careers taking off. He had a 6 figure job, and beautiful wife (who was in punk/no wave band). He tiredlessly promoted her band and loved her. Then she hurt him (emotionally). He asked me to go out one weekend, but I didn't want to spend money after NYE. I had a plan to end myself, and the next morning I got the news he used his own agency to decide his fate. The shock, and reaction I and my friends had, and the guilt I had from not going out w/ him that night shook me out of my funk. Still miss the lad.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:26pm fred:

I never thought I'd turn 30 (because of a heart malformation) but I ended up making it to a time when it could be repaired and am now staring at turning 50. Maybe I shouldn't have spent all that time turning people away because I thought I was close to dying. But I found other people that way
Avatar 1:26pm Mayuko:

@Franco Haha! The art of "Fuck You", the thing I started learning only after I immigrated to the US of A. Late start but better than never!
Avatar 1:26pm coelacanth∅:

shit, Rick. -hopefully he's glad too
Avatar 1:27pm northguineahills:

Avatar 1:34pm Mayuko:

Jack, thank you for your kind words!!!
Avatar 1:35pm Franco Twinkie:

Mayuko, I hope you don't think I'm not taking your emotional distress seriously, But I just want to say there is another way. It's a philosophical choice. And like everything else in life, a daily struggle.
  1:37pm rw:

Mayuko, thank you for creating this forum for people to share their stories. I was just thinking this morning I have three friends who are in the midst of depression right now and am not really sure how to help except to be there for them. And what fred said, Way to throw a Birthday Party!!
Avatar 1:38pm Mayuko:

@Dave B I was thinking of talking about suicide today and then I saw you on my comment board. Felt a bit hesitated but decided to go on. I appreciate you and everyone sharing your stories here. And yes indeed another orbit around the sun!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39pm chresti:

My older brother drowned in '72 while camping in Montana, I was 15. A friend, who's a medium, visited with him, and at the end asked if he had a message for me. He handed her a pencil.
