I just ate an Avocado.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:00pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

From 70s avocado to crisp 60s white :-)
Avatar 4:00pm
Otis Fodder:

I just ate coffee.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:01pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I knew a biker who used to snort coffee. That's another story for another time ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:01pm
Jan Turkenburg:

roasted cheese sandwich ... what else...
  4:01pm
Martinibomb:

I can only ate coffee once a day now.
  4:02pm
Martinibomb:

No medium cool yet ..
  4:02pm
Martinibomb:

oh there it is
Avatar 4:02pm
Otis Fodder:

Chocolate Coffee Beans here. High Cool.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:03pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Mmmmmm ... chocolate covered coffee beans :-)
  4:04pm
Martinibomb:

I love crushed coffee bean on ice cream. You only need 1 bean
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:04pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Rockford Files theme = happiness
  4:05pm
Martinibomb:

I'd say it's the best TV Theme ever. It's pretty good. Can't think one that's much better.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:07pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Oooo ... now. The Persuaders. That's my favourite. But then me and hammered dulcimers. :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:07pm
Jan Turkenburg:

aaaaargh, just read the exit polls of province elections. An even bigger and more dangerous lunatic than Geert Wilders has stood up and is the biggest so far... AAAH, but I think I have my weird cover of the week for friday!
  4:08pm
Martinibomb:

oh man I'm sorry Jan! That's scary
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:09pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Shit, Jan :-( That's terrible. Scary times.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:11pm
Jan Turkenburg:

He was the only politician not pausing his campaign after the shooting yesterday. On the contrary he blamed the immigration policy of the last ten years. (While more and more is becoming clear that the shooter was also a disturbed drug abuser)
Avatar 4:11pm
Mr Fab:

Rockford's pretty great. hard to choose: "Adams Family," "Munsters," "Stingray," "Monkees theme," "twin Peaks (Falling)" ..Anyone remember "Logan's Run" or "In Search Of"? More great moog-y '70s themes.
  4:12pm
Martinibomb:

I love that In Search of Theme. I used to watch that Logans Run series but I can't remember the music right now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:13pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Well, let's keep dancing on the vulcano :-) :-)
  4:14pm
Martinibomb:

I think I need to bring my vox down in the mix more next time. too much! lol sorry
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:14pm
Rich in Washington:

The theme from The Night Gallery always sends a chill up my spine. That show scared the crap out of me when I was a kid.
Avatar 4:16pm
Mr Fab:

Jan, I sometimes describe this channel as "post-political" - attempting to create an attitude that moves past all this silliness and divisiveness. Everyone is welcome to come to the Jungle Room and boogie on down.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:16pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Music is the great uniter :-)
  4:17pm
Martinibomb:

The U.F.O. Theme song is another of my faves. Also I love Greatest American Hero. which also seems to have like 1 original singery song in the first episode of the 1st season. Each song is kinda about the episode it playes in? I keep meaning to collect them and see what/s the big picure is
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:18pm
Jan Turkenburg:

MF, I usually refrain from talking about politics here, but I was in shock for a moment...
  4:21pm
Martinibomb:

Any other TV Theme songs?
Avatar 4:22pm
Mr Fab:

Of course, Jan, feel free to speak your mind here about anything. I just meant that I see the channel as doing my small part to help the human race move past the nonsense, towards a better world.
Avatar 4:23pm
Mr Fab:

"peter Gunn"! How could I forget that one?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:25pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Yes, MrFab. I look at it that way too. That's how I looked at my music lessons and my local radio activities as well.
  4:25pm
Martinibomb:

oh yeah! Peter Gunn That one's in
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:25pm
Rich in Washington:

Oh wow. I just read up on Gil Mellé's Night Gallery theme. The one I'm most familiar with is the season two version - very spooky. I used to think it was by Lalo Schifrin because that's what the MP3 I d'loaded off Napster said (heh!).
  4:25pm
Martinibomb:

Johnny Quest Theme
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:26pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Rich - it's Gil Melle?? I did not know that!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:27pm
Rich in Washington:

The first season theme was composed by Mellé, but had electronics by Paul Beaver, of Beaver and Krause fame, Deet Band, etc. He was also the knob twiddler on that Hal Blaine Psychedelic Percussion LP that I played on my last KBOO show, may play on Friday's show. I don't know yet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:27pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Aha - isn't it Paul Beaver on Cosmic Zodiac Sounds as well?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:28pm
Rich in Washington:

I can't remember what I played on which show anymore. I'm getting stereophenic.
  4:28pm
Martinibomb:

I haven't heard the Pscyh Perc lp. Seems like a winner
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:28pm
Rich in Washington:

I think so. He's on quite a lot of stuff. He was a busy Beaver.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:28pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

HA!!! I see what you did there ;-)
Avatar 4:29pm
Mr Fab:

ha, "Psychedelic Percussion" is a whole album of drum solos! Good in small doses.
  4:29pm
Martinibomb:

Department S Theme, Tomorrow People, Dr. Who, Peoples Court.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:30pm
Rich in Washington:

It's really kooky. Blaine plays nearly every percussion instrument. It sounds a bit like side four of The Mothers Freak Out, which, ironically, was aided and abetted by Wrecking Crew members but NOT Blaine.
Avatar 4:30pm
Mr Fab:

oh jeez, of course "Dr Who." DUH.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:30pm
Rich in Washington:

I will play some on Friday. It's pretty whacky. And kooky.
  4:31pm
Martinibomb:

Any other ideas for TV Themes that might be fun to cage fight?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:32pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I'm still repainting the same Funko Pop I started a while back. damn those things are fiddly!
Avatar 4:32pm
Mr Fab:

This "Cherry Oh Baby" is great. Another Neil Diamond song today, following "I'm A Believer." In a Neil-y mood today?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:32pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

The Sweeney
  4:33pm
Martinibomb:

The Avengers
  4:34pm
Martinibomb:

Dave Allen Theme
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:34pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Oh!! The Prisoner/Danger Man/Man in a Suitcase ... um ... Zoo Gang.
  4:35pm
Martinibomb:

And pretty much anything by Barry Gray
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:35pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Dave Allen - yes!!! Saw that at the British Library gig :-)
Avatar 4:36pm
Mr Fab:

"Gigantor," and "Banana Splits." Or at least the Dickies versions.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:37pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

My partner just shouted from the couch: "I want a can of Ting now!!" He's enjoying the show too :-)
Avatar 4:38pm
Mr Fab:

Yep, I dumped pretty much the entire contents of Barry Gray's "Stand By For Action!" into the Sheena stream.
  4:39pm
Martinibomb:

Hawaii Five-O of course
  4:40pm
Martinibomb:

It seems like all the Theme songs we've come up with are mostly 60s/70s. Any newer tv themes?
Avatar 4:40pm
MrCrispy:

Seconded on Doctor Who, Jonny Quest, Prisoner....well, yeah all of the ones everybody's mentioned are great!
Avatar 4:41pm
MrCrispy:

Didn't remember that about the Greatest American Hero episode songs - gonna have to check that out
  4:42pm
Martinibomb:

Oh hey MrCrispy! Thanks for dropping in. Trying to think up TV Themes to cage fight but now realizing allt he cool ones are old. Any new stuff? like 90s onward?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:42pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

This :-) www.youtube.com...
Avatar 4:42pm
MrCrispy:

I love the Parks n Rec & Brooklyn 99 themes for new ones off the top of the head
Avatar 4:44pm
Mr Fab:

Well, i mentioned "Twin Peaks." But, yeah, TV generally cut back on themes. Some start cold nowadays.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:44pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

And this : www.youtube.com...
  4:44pm
Martinibomb:

Twin Peaks was probably the newest hah
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:45pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Parks and Rec! Yes!
Avatar 4:45pm
Mr Fab:

This song has always been one of my fave "fake New Wave" tracks
Avatar 4:46pm
Mr Fab:

its better than a lot of "real" new Wave.
Avatar 4:48pm
MrCrispy:

IT CROWD!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:48pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Black Books!!!
  4:48pm
Martinibomb:

Oh that's a good one yes
  4:50pm
Martinibomb:

Anybody ever heard this "TeLIEvision" song before? I have it on an unlabeled thing so assume it's an edit of something? But I'm not familiar with the song
Avatar 4:51pm
MrCrispy:

BTW Lately cartoons have been killin the theme song game. New Rocky & Bullwinkle is way better than you might expect for one
  4:53pm
Martinibomb:

The new rocky n bullwinkle theme is a parody of james bond on top of that. yeah the intro is nice lookin'
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:54pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I was in the other room and heard the call of Sparks :-D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:55pm
Jan Turkenburg:

I see I was the ninth person to clicky star this one :-) :-)
  4:55pm
Martinibomb:

One band that never seems to get old. All of their stuff is awesome. The new one was great too. Got to see em a couple year ago and they were awesome live
Avatar 4:56pm
Mr Fab:

early '80s Sparks was their most commercially successful period in the US. True in the UK, too, or their '70s stuff?
Avatar 4:56pm
Mr Fab:

i saw em play "Kimono My House" in it's entirety about a decade or so ago. So so great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:56pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

70s mainly in the UK. Seen them live too and they're fabulous. :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:57pm
Jan Turkenburg:

In the NL it was the 70s for them. After 'beat the clock' they didn't get that much media attention anymore
  5:01pm
Martinibomb:

I don't even know any one who can pull off Sparks at Karaoke. Those vocals are tough to nail.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:03pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

"Academy Award Performance" - Russell hits a note that I didn't even think was possible.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:04pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I don't think I've ever heard anyone cover Jacques Dutronc :-)
  5:05pm
Martinibomb:

yeah and this is Kim Salmon from the super fantastic Australian punk band The Scientists
Avatar 5:09pm
Mr Fab:

As great as Suicide was, i never got any Alan Vega solo stuff. Should really do something about that.
Avatar 5:09pm
Mr Fab:

Was amazed to find out how old he was. Born in 1936! No wonder he had such a rockabilly influence, he was THERE.
  5:12pm
Martinibomb:

Oh I didn't realize he was that much older than Rev! 11 year age difference
Avatar 5:16pm
MrCrispy:

The best MJ
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:24pm
Jan Turkenburg:

great feel good show MB. Will listen to the rest at breakfast :-) CU everybody!
  5:25pm
Martinibomb:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:26pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

  5:26pm
Martinibomb:

Take care GeorgyGirl!
Avatar 5:27pm
MrCrispy:

Heh, picked up a 3LP Roberto Carlos comp recently and the OG of this song is on there - probably my fave
  5:29pm
Martinibomb:

I am a fan of the Roberto Carlos and especially yeah love this track
Avatar 5:30pm
MrCrispy:

Any other fave Carlos songs? I only liked 3 or 4 that were on the comp
Avatar 5:32pm
MrCrispy:

Jesucristo is a jam
  5:34pm
Martinibomb:

Well that's probably my fave song. I think he's a super popular singer in Latin America and he made a ton o crap! So there are some gems tho that are really good.
  5:34pm
Martinibomb:

I had collected all my faves somewhere into a playlist but can't seem to find it.. hah
Avatar 5:35pm
MrCrispy:

Need to do some more digging on him. His buddy/writing partner Erasmo Carlos has some amazing albums
Avatar 5:38pm
MrCrispy:

Mr Softee - ha ha ha!
  5:40pm
Martinibomb:

I have a soft spot for Kid Creole and the Coconuts
Avatar 5:42pm
Mr Fab:

Kid Creole and the Coconuts! Another figure i always liked but really should revisit. Fun fun stuff.
  5:43pm
Martinibomb:

I think they are in that Downtown 81 Film worth watching if you haven't seen it
Avatar 5:46pm
Mr Fab:

Discovered Kid Creole as a musical guest on SNL. Really dynamic performance.
  5:47pm
Martinibomb:

Last time I checked their website it seemed like they had some kind of cruise ship thing they were doing.
Avatar 5:57pm
Mr Fab:

is that 'Boots' cover available anywhere? Can't find it online.
  5:58pm
Martinibomb:

I don't think so. He had some printed up on vinyl which he gave me but I felt like it was a self released thing so.. not sure how far he got with it?
  6:00pm
Martinibomb:

okay thanks for listening everyone. That wraps it for episode 16 of Medium Cool.
Avatar 6:01pm
