Ridgewood Radio features concert recordings by adventurous bands and experimental musicians and restored archival tapes from private and institutional collections captured at venues large and small across the five boroughs of New York. It is produced by David Weinstein and Outpost Artists Resources operating out of the Ridgewood section of Queens, NY, where you'll find more yellow bricks than on the road to Oz and the cemetery of your choice is never more than a few blocks from home.

Hey hey, Ridgewood! Childhood vinyl being spun here. (I was likely too young for a bunch of the content. Mom didn't fret.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:01pm Webhamster Henry:

My HAIR soundtrack is so scratchy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:02pm Webhamster Henry:

But this is the movie version - I though it sounded a little different!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:03pm Webhamster Henry:

And it goes well with the crying mousies.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:04pm Webhamster Henry:

Tomeka Reid and Lea Bertucci shot a music video in the Widow Jane Mine last year - I haven't seen what happened to that!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:06pm Webhamster Henry:

"Frank Mills", not rhyming at all, was kind of inspiring!

Avatar 4:09pm david w:

Lots of studio prep, and one of these folks who works to precision with a backing track.
Avatar 4:17pm david w:

Between the footpedals, button pushing, voice, and theremin hands Dorit engages, as she likes to say, her whole body.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:25pm steveo:

i am clapping with my hands AND my feet
Avatar 4:29pm david w:

Trickey stuff!

Avatar 4:41pm david w:

Val uses some standard DJ tools, pads, maybe Ableton, and flies in all the samples in a live mix. Really masterful.
Avatar 4:54pm david w:

One more treat, then goodbye. Thanks, all!
Avatar 4:56pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Coming up next on this Drummer Some stream: Classic sound collage from 21 YEARS AGO: "Smoking: Isn't it About Dads?"
(Public Service Announcement fest, spliced, collaged and reinterpreted in real time. Later participation via telephone nonsense, and ambient noises.)

Come on over! wfmu.org...
