A two-hour exploration of excavations from the farthest reaches of humanity's hellish collective brain, through records, tapes, CDs, mostly scoured from country bumpkin thrift stores, creepy charity shops, backwoods junk stores, and even the internet - all mixed live. We don't judge, we just play 'em. Hosted by Rich in Washington.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:00pm Rich in Washington:

And we're off!
Avatar 7:00pm Don-O:

Avatar 7:01pm Mr Fab:

I'm *cough* ready! *wheez, hack*
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:02pm Rich in Washington:

A look back at a few 2018 releases that I quite enjoyed.
Avatar 7:04pm Mr Fab:

This stream used to be People Like Us' Radio Boredcast stream. Thanks, Vicki!
Avatar 7:04pm Don-O:

I'm so behind on 2018 releases that I'm watching them on YouTube. I missed out on Swing Out Sister's latest album....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:04pm Rich in Washington:

It's funny. Most of the grungier record piles in my town have closed up. Goodwill Industries has more or less killed all mom n' pop charity thrift stores in the NW, probably everywhere.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:05pm Rich in Washington:

I know! I think you recently told me that this used to be her stream.
Avatar 7:06pm Don-O:

I keep hearing about people boycotting GW because their CEO is getting $5 million plus (approx.) per year.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:06pm Rich in Washington:

And Goodwill takes most 'good' records they receive as donations and immediately sell them to an online entity, so they don't ever hit their bins.
Avatar 7:06pm coelacanth∅:

hey Rich and OW MY EYE!!
Avatar 7:07pm Martinibomb:

shout out for Freeform Portland!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:08pm Rich in Washington:

Hey coelacanth∅! Thanks for joining us!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:08pm Rich in Washington:

Martinibomb! Freeform!
Avatar 7:09pm Don-O:

All the flying cars crashed....damn you, Space Age PR Dept.!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:10pm Rich in Washington:

I know! Everytime someone says something about flying cars, I always say, do you really want a-holes flying over your heads?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:10pm Rich in Washington:

Uh. what the hell?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:11pm Rich in Washington:

This is the stream.
Avatar 7:11pm Martinibomb:

You guys Helicopters are flying cars. How else would you design them. They are already here. Now go get your pilot license.
Avatar 7:11pm Martinibomb:

oh this isn't Rachel taylor brown
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:11pm Rich in Washington:

Nope. Sure isn't.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:12pm Rich in Washington:

I have an idea what might be happening.
Avatar 7:12pm Don-O:

I blame The Jetsons and its freakin' cheap animation. Damn you, Hanna-Barbera!
Avatar 7:13pm Mr Fab:

goddam it, why, why!!?!
Avatar 7:13pm Martinibomb:

What's your theory Rich?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:14pm Rich in Washington:

Long pauses in songs, between songs, are maybe triggering the auto DJ.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:14pm Rich in Washington:

There was a long pause, silent part in that song right when it kicked in the stream.
Avatar 7:15pm Mr Fab:

trying to restart it manually
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:16pm Rich in Washington:

OK, thanks!
What will prevent it from happening again, though? But at least it'll confirm my theory, maybe.
Should check that Stop Hitting Yourself show from a few weeks ago and see if it's similarly got a dead air spot.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:17pm Rich in Washington:

Isn't this Otis' show?
Avatar 7:18pm Mr Fab:

yes, sorry
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:20pm Rich in Washington:

Ok. Here we go again. Thanks, Mr. F!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:20pm Rich in Washington:

Oops. Never mind.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:21pm Rich in Washington:

Weird. It's trying to start. I hear it, then the stream kicks in.
Avatar 7:24pm Mr Fab:

Is this it?
Avatar 7:26pm coelacanth∅:

so this is an archive of someone's show on right now?
Avatar 7:27pm coelacanth∅:

("do you see what i see"; "because"...)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:27pm Rich in Washington:

Right now it's this show starting from the beginning again.
Avatar 7:27pm Mr Fab:

I think i successfully started today's show over again. We'll see if it works this time, or if it poops out again.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:27pm Rich in Washington:

yes. This is it. Let's keep our tentacles crossed. Or fingers. What have you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:28pm Rich in Washington:

Thanks for your patience!
Thanks for being on it, Mr. Fab!
Avatar 7:28pm coelacanth∅:

oh, heh -'makes sense. it sounds like people like us
Avatar 7:29pm Mr Fab:

We tried this before when "Stop Hitting Yourself" crapped out after 17 minutes, and it still didn't work. Apparently there was a glitch in the recording. So Spacebrother had to edit it out and played it next week.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:31pm Rich in Washington:

Hmm. Wonder if mine's similarly glitched? I preview the exported final file. I do suspect that the silent bit between songs might be the culprit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:33pm Rich in Washington:

I love this album. These songs are a sort of lament about the vanishing old Portland.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:34pm Rich in Washington:

Yep.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:34pm Rich in Washington:

Goodnight everybody! Sorry!
Avatar 7:35pm Mr Fab:

Exact same spot. Aaaargh! Well, you wanna try it again, Rich? Like Greg, edit that part out and send it to me again?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:36pm Rich in Washington:

Well, given that it's a time sensitive show, it seems not worth running again next week.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:37pm Rich in Washington:

Can I just make the archived version?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:38pm Rich in Washington:

Closing the playlist. I'll PM you. Thanks for trying!
Avatar 7:38pm Mr Fab:

No, not an issue! Best of the Year doesn't get out of date that fast. You can try it again. (Your file was def an hour, not a 10 min file or anything - not your fault, of course)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:39pm Rich in Washington:

Weird. OK. So this will run next week?
Avatar 7:48pm coelacanth:

oh well Thanks Rich. next time.
(i'm having my own computer issues here. crash. reboot.)
