Hi, it's Otis. And Otis. And Otis. Welcome to the show this week. Getting started soon....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:59pm Dutchman Jan:

ha! Love that picture!
Avatar 3:00pm Otis Fodder:

My Dad (who is also, Larry). Has had that little pad for decades, he recently passed it on to me. Note phone number: DO 2-9826 (love that).
  3:01pm Martinibomb:

Hey dudes and dudettes and dudethems
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:01pm Dutchman Jan:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:01pm Dutchman Jan:

Hi Martinibomb!
Avatar 3:02pm Otis Fodder:

Live 3 hour show, playing with a pitch shifter today and 2 glasses of Vino Verde light wine. Thank you for not leaving.
  3:02pm Martinibomb:

I still have my old home phone number memorized from when I was 5. Does that ever leave your memory? Your first phone number?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:02pm Dutchman Jan:

Hi everyone, hope you all made the move to this corner of sheena's room safely!
  3:02pm Martinibomb:

You're doing this live today? this is a live stream no pre-recording???
  3:02pm Martinibomb:

Hi Jan!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:02pm Dutchman Jan:

Avatar 3:02pm Otis Fodder:

I lost my memory of phone numbers. But I can tell you almost every address/street I have lived on.
  3:03pm Martinibomb:

From the car wreck/hitting your head?
Avatar 3:03pm Otis Fodder:

Not Live "Live". But like every week, recorded live before. Hit record and go for 3 hours with no editing. I haven't listened back to it. I did wake up the next day and say OH GOD I'M DOING THIS OVER. But, nope sent it in. Oh god.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:04pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

You were in a car wreck?? Oh no :-(
  3:04pm Martinibomb:

He hit a cow he was talking about it on his last show
Avatar 3:04pm Otis Fodder:

Maybe. 3 times I have been knocked out, and almost died. 2 more stories coming next month. I have some sort of angel or demon watching over... or karma, karma, yes.
Avatar 3:05pm Otis Fodder:

Yes, on the freeway. 1991. That was the worst.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:06pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Wait ... I must have completely spaced out with the cow story!!! I was definitely listening last week ... I shall have to revisit!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:06pm Dutchman Jan:

I just hit the record button on my streamripper for evidence, Otis!
  3:06pm Martinibomb:

we're getting ready to have a birthday party for my partner in crime tomorrow at our house.. so i'm cleaning and getting the karaoke machine warmed up while listening today
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:07pm Dutchman Jan:

It was the week before that, I believe, Georgy
  3:07pm Martinibomb:

I love vocal FX by the way.. this is awesome! I've been doing this a bunch on my freeform show
Avatar 3:08pm Otis Fodder:

Pulled out my old half-rackmount BOSS SE-70 processor from the 90s.
  3:08pm Martinibomb:

I invented Cat Food Pancakes while running my voice thru fx once
  3:09pm Martinibomb:

let's hear it for half-racks! what an invention
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:09pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I'm in and out of the kitchen doing dinner so may go quiet for an extended period. Still listening! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:09pm Dutchman Jan:

Man, I love this. This is what radio is all about!
  3:10pm Martinibomb:

I imagine this is what it actually sounds like inside Otis's head
  3:10pm Martinibomb:

like there's a couple different voices all chatting back n fourth it's amazing he ever gets any sleep
Avatar 3:11pm Otis Fodder:

This was recorded while I was sleeping.
Avatar 3:12pm spacebrother:

Just got back. Hey!
  3:12pm Martinibomb:

whoa! you timed that comment perfectly
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:12pm Dutchman Jan:

Avatar 3:13pm Otis Fodder:

Setup presets on the Boss, go from one to the other pitch and click the knob and it bypasses. Super simple to switch.
  3:15pm Martinibomb:

i love old 90s/early 2000s gear right now. It's super cheap! I just wanna drop a grand and fill up a giant rackmount cabinet I have
Avatar 3:16pm spacebrother:

I LIKE some of those dangerous drugs.
  3:16pm Martinibomb:

wow! Cisco kid say no to drugs! this is amazing!
Avatar 3:17pm Otis Fodder:

I love the FX on this Boss. If you can find a SE-70 for cheap, I recommend picking one up, so much fun.
Avatar 3:18pm Otis Fodder:

From GET OFF (PSA album). I have both GET OFF and GET OFF II. Really amazing rock PSAs.
Avatar 3:20pm Otis Fodder:

A majority of the rock stars doing those PSAs were actively partaking I am sure. Ha!
  3:21pm Martinibomb:

yeah that was usually part of their "community service" lol
Avatar 3:21pm Otis Fodder:

Yea, ya wanna pick up trash on I-5 or hit the studio!
  3:22pm Martinibomb:

It was a tough choice I'm sure
  3:24pm Martinibomb:

okay I gotta start baking a cake ... can't comment much while my hands are covered in cake flour/sugar/butter Lol
Avatar 3:25pm Otis Fodder:

Bake that cake. Just don't leave it melting in the rain.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:25pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

All that sweet green icing
Avatar 3:26pm spacebrother:

Frank thinks coke is just fine.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28pm Dutchman Jan:

That's no drugs, that's food!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:32pm Dutchman Jan:

(Well, that's what Frank said of cigarettes, anyway)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:36pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Going to have dinner now - will listen on archive! :-) Great stuff so far tho :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:39pm Dutchman Jan:

enjoy your dinner, Georgy
Avatar 3:39pm Otis Fodder:

Cheers Georgy!
Avatar 3:39pm spacebrother:

I think I can hear the vibrating machine that he's standing on.
  3:40pm Rich in Washington:

listening to your show while flipping through records at the Goodwill. perfect.
Avatar 3:40pm Otis Fodder:

Maybe you'll find something I play Rich! Ha!
Avatar 3:40pm spacebrother:

More food on the discussion. I'll listen to the latest Flange on the archive, Georgy.
  3:43pm RiW:

not very likely,! the Goodwills here suck!
Avatar 3:44pm Otis Fodder:

Thrifts in big cities all pretty much suck... timing and being lucky or having an inside contact is when fruits appear it seems.
Avatar 3:57pm spacebrother:

I remember the SNL news segment of Longet "accidentally shooting" a series of olympic skiers.
Avatar 3:58pm Otis Fodder:

Classic SNL skit. The gun accidently went off, like 5 times.
Avatar 4:01pm spacebrother:

I think it was after she was found innocent of shooting her olympic skier boyfriend. Probably written by Michael O'Donoghue.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:08pm Dutchman Jan:

Ah, die beat oma!!!
Avatar 4:15pm spacebrother:

That was a great label.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:17pm Dutchman Jan:

The Pan galactic Gargle Blaster!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:18pm Dutchman Jan:

I've read the Hitch Hiker's series three times, lol (and considering reading it a fourth time!)
Avatar 4:20pm Otis Fodder:

Love the BBC miniseries too!
Avatar 4:22pm spacebrother:

Sounds like Firesign Theatre. A bit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:22pm Dutchman Jan:

I only know parts of that.... unfortunately, or... I think I have it somewhere hidden in my cd-r archive ... :-( somewhere deepdown in my obsessive peer-to-peer-download period...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:23pm Dutchman Jan:

There was a Dutch langauge version of the hear play too, but a lot of things were just lost in translation of course
Avatar 4:37pm spacebrother:

Oh wow, the Messer Chups sampled that opening riff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:46pm Rich in Washington:

Ah. Finally back home! Hello everybodeez!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:48pm Rich in Washington:

The HGTTG radio program is still my favorite iteration of the whole thing. I remember finding it by accident on my local PBS affiliated radio station as a teenager.
Avatar 4:51pm Otis Fodder:

Hey Rich! I dig the radio show as well. Need to listen to it again, been years.
  4:56pm Martinibomb:

yay medium cool! my favorite show
Avatar 4:57pm spacebrother:

Avatar 4:57pm spacebrother:

The space brothers thank you for the shout out.
Avatar 4:58pm Don-O:

'Stop Hitting Yourself' is a great title of any show....well, as a fine show itself.
Avatar 4:58pm spacebrother:

Thank you Don-O!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:59pm Dutchman Jan:

It's a great show. I always (!) listen the next day, because for me it's in the middle of the night. That's why I'm never in the chatroom, but now you know!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:03pm Rich in Washington:

Oh my god!
  5:04pm Martinibomb:

@rich assume you mean this cover of space oddity -- yeah holy moly!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:05pm Rich in Washington:

yes, indeed! It's an absolute belter, alright!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:06pm Dutchman Jan:

I thought I knew all of them, but this....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:06pm Dutchman Jan:

pity my Italian is limited to a few words....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:07pm Rich in Washington:

My pal Alejandro's got a bunch of really peculiar Mexican children's records. I should see about having him on as a guest one day. Also, lots of New Wave and electronic music from Spain.
Avatar 5:08pm Otis Fodder:

That would be amazing. Guests bringing collections on, yes!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:10pm Rich in Washington:

We did a huge throwdown of children's records once for International Children's Day. It was nuts. He brought a lot of peculiar records by Cri Cri, a popular TV show character from Mexico.
  5:14pm Martinibomb:

When I was in spain years ago.. I think in Alicante or Barcelona I can't remember. i saw this 8bit artist called the Lizard? I probably have the name wrong but he dressed up in a lizard costume and performed a pretty good set from his game boy. I remember being kinda impressed and I think he had some pretty good visuals that went along with it. @Rich maybe your friend has heard of him? I've never been able to find any of his work.
  5:17pm Martinibomb:

I think I have a photo of me with the lizard.. gotta got find it now hah
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:23pm chresti:

Happy Solstice
  5:24pm Martinibomb:

wow great set! I like that mix of funkdelic/genOrange/turtles
Avatar 5:25pm Otis Fodder:

Thanks. Playing the vinyl collection, multi-genre, ya know.
  5:26pm chresti:

It’s happening starting 3 minutes ago
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:27pm Rich in Washington:

I love this song.
Avatar 5:27pm Otis Fodder:

Solstice 2018. Figure 8. Turn it on it's side and it's a symbol for...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:27pm Rich in Washington:

They sound so much better than when coming out of a tiny old TV speaker.
  5:27pm chresti:

Great show Otis!
  5:28pm Martinibomb:

you got a pretty good sound/vibe going just in time for solstice apparently
Avatar 5:28pm spacebrother:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:28pm Rich in Washington:

Oh, man! I had no idea that was Blossom Dearie!
  5:28pm Laura L:

Hi Otis!!!! This one was written by Blossom Dearie's pal Bob Dorough, I think?
Avatar 5:28pm Otis Fodder:

Random occurance, but totally this song by Blossom and the next go perfectly. Oh, the next song...
Avatar 5:29pm Otis Fodder:

Yes, the lovely amazing Blossom.
Avatar 5:29pm Otis Fodder:

Hi Laura, yes!! It was. xoxo
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:30pm Rich in Washington:

and Bob Dorough just passed away earlier this year.
Avatar 5:31pm Otis Fodder:

Yes, very sad. Big fan of Dorough. Devil May Care to Schoolhouse Rock.
  5:32pm Martinibomb:

Dorough also wrote Comin' Home Baby a karaoke fave of mine
Avatar 5:32pm Otis Fodder:

Oh hey, that OTIS elevator signage in the photo this week was a gift from Laura L here in chat!
Avatar 5:33pm Otis Fodder:

Did he? I didn't know that. Another gold star mentally posting next to Bob!
  5:33pm Laura L:

Yes, Bob's gone--I got to see him a few times in NY, even just a year and a half or two ago, and quite a lot of years ago with Ms. Blossom herself--which I mentioned to him last time and he was so happy to think back on the inimitable lady.
Avatar 5:36pm Otis Fodder:

My buddy Mitchell was working on a doc with Bob before he passed away (and still). Can't wait for it to wrap in time. www.indiegogo.com...
  5:38pm Laura L:

Got any idea when he might have that Dorough doc done? I'd love to see it.
Avatar 5:40pm Otis Fodder:

No clue, it's a been a bit, I can check with him. He also did the Xmas doc which is fun, jinglebellrocks.com
Avatar 5:41pm Otis Fodder:

Here's the Bob D FB Doc page, for those of us on Fartbook, www.facebook.com...
  5:44pm Laura L:

Oh, my, never heard this (original, I guess?) version of the song that I know so well from The Clientele.
Avatar 5:47pm Otis Fodder:

Oh wow, they did a cover, will look it up now!
  5:49pm Laura L:

It's excellent! On their album "Minotaur," which is a great one. But they all are. Ken just walked in and says HI!! He was listening on his iPad riding home on the bus!
Avatar 5:53pm Don-O:

Merry Snowballs to you, Otis!
Avatar 5:53pm Otis Fodder:

Hi Ken! Thanks Laura and nice to see you all here today and in the future, in the archives. Happy Holidaze!
Avatar 5:55pm Otis Fodder:

Stay tuned for Don-O next up... www.wfmu.org...
Avatar 5:55pm spacebrother:

Best to all. Marvelous show (as always as always.)
  5:56pm Laura L:

Wonderful to see you here--I plumb forgot to turn on the radio at 3 but Ken texted me and said Otis is on! Hooray for archives! Great show, thank you, Otis! Happy trails and happy holidays to all.
Avatar 5:58pm Otis Fodder:

Wrapping up with the smokey voice of Julie London covering a Margo Guryan pinned number. Smooooooth.
Avatar 5:58pm Don-O:

Oh, Julie!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:58pm Rich in Washington:

Thanks for a great show, Otis! Happy Solstice!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:59pm Rich in Washington:

I need to find that great Peter Bagge comic about Julie London. I think it was in Neat Stuff or Hate.
