Postwar atmospherica. High bop modernism and Afro-Latin sounds, twilight exotica and soundtrack moods, soul stompers and weepers, hypnotic R&B and blues, mystical '60s pop, lonely country, lonelier rock 'n' roll, instrumental weirdness, electronic creaking. Bringing worlds beyond into the worlds at hand.

Greetings all.
Avatar 10:05pm Little Danny:

NGH: I was just trying to turn azul into a noun!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:07pm coelacanth∅:

i'm imagining a group of people picking up their respective plates and beverages and just shuffling into the next room...as it it oft stated.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:08pm melinda:

yes, that's how it feels...shuffling into the next room.

There is no Dana, only azul.
Avatar 10:09pm northguineahills:

It is sometimes is worse, when in Mexico, I start to interchange French and Japanese for Spanish words, b/c to my brain, I'm just using foreign words....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:10pm coelacanth∅:

haha i think i'd do that!
Avatar 10:11pm northguineahills:

Well, a friend just sent me a pic of a noise/performance artist at an even down the street, so I must part in about 10 mins, danks LD!
Avatar 10:11pm Little Danny:

Avatar 10:11pm Little Danny:

@melinda: totally agree!
Avatar 10:11pm geezerette:

Soul extravaganza continues. Shufflin' along with you.all, into the blue room...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:13pm coelacanth∅:

hey ngh, my first appreciation of Scott Walker came with "soused", his collaboration with sunn o))). (probably one that Larry hasn't fully embraced yet)
...exquisitely bizarre, relentlessly dark, thrillingly noisy.
Avatar 10:14pm still b/p:

Bent the song for some Nativity goofing in a thing a couple weeks ago:
Are the stars out tonight,
Well, there's that one and WOW is it bright!
There's a show in the skies for...Yule..dear...
  10:14pm zonk ludlow:

northguineahills - Noise/performance artist sounds like my type of Xmas entertainment, enjoy.
Avatar 10:15pm Little Danny:

How's everybody weathering the holiday season thusfar? Been a kinda rough one this year, no?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:15pm Uncle Michael:

I think Scott's arc from teen heart throb (pre-Walker Brothers) to the Sun O))) record is as smooth as if it had been drawn with a French Curve. He's just put one foot in front of the other.
Avatar 10:16pm glenn:

azul should be a verb. stanton azuled that ball into next week.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:17pm Uncle Michael:

I'm good, Danny. But me and this keyboard are about to go to neutral corners.
Avatar 10:17pm geezerette:

slinky wah-wha...
Avatar 10:18pm Little Danny:

Hi Glenn! I'm ready to azul the fuck outta 2017
Avatar 10:19pm still b/p:

Alternately want turn away from and step toward holiday modes and signs.
Avatar 10:19pm Little Danny:

Man that looks dirty the way I spelled it out
Avatar 10:20pm northguineahills:

@coel: that was my gateway as well. I love his Fennesz stuff as well, and I can dig his stuff back through to some of the 80s, and some of the early walker bros. stuff works w/ its naivety.

@zonk ludlow: I'm starting to dig this smallish (as compare to Brooklyn) small town. Paz mis amigos y amigas, abrazos y besos por todos!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:21pm coelacanth∅:

UM, exploring his back catalogue but still with scant experience i would agree. -and i'd heard him before soused but only the "hits", which i'm not into. i had to hear the most extreme first, and now i've also found some not-as-noisy-but-certainly dark-and-weird stuff that i like. (though i couldn't name titles at this point)
Avatar 10:22pm geezerette:

aww, sueltes dulces, NGH.
Avatar 10:23pm northguineahills:

arigato geezerette!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:25pm Uncle Michael:

Coel, he did whore himself out in the '70s with some pop records that he now disavows (but I like in places), that are off the arc. That right after the Walker Brothers he was the first to record Brel in English (in a non-cast-album context, THEN made those four amazing "Scott" albums" THEN started getting really wierd on his portion of a Walker Brothers reunion album in the '80s...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:26pm Uncle Michael:

Anyone with any interest in Scott needs to watch the "30 Century Man" documentary.
Avatar 10:26pm still b/p:

Now there may be too many TV references in my common comment bag, but...in an episode of Green Acres, Eb claims to have Dizzy Gillespie, Dave Brubeck and Tijuana Brass records.
  10:27pm zonk ludlow:

Uncle Michael: Too true, a great doco.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:28pm Uncle Michael:

Eb totally would. Eb was the surrealist character on a surreal show. He's Zippy the Pinhead in sitcom drag.
Avatar 10:29pm glenn:

in retrospect, green acres was pretty subversive stuff.
Avatar 10:29pm still b/p:

UM, you should write your own guide and critique for such shows!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:30pm Uncle Michael:

I'm better at hot takes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:33pm Uncle Michael:

Eb is the "normal" character on the show (not Oliver Douglas), because he's not the fish out of water. He's basically the Greek chorus. He's subversive because he's naturalistic, but *bent*.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:35pm Uncle Michael:

Every other character on the show is overtly nuts. Eb is the lens that makes sense of it...but in an Eb-like way. The only person that completely gets his Eb's-eye-view is Lisa Douglas.
  10:36pm zonk ludlow:

For weeks now I've been racking my brain trying to place the artist responsible for the 'welcome to the club' background vibes. Anyone able to put me out of my misery?
Avatar 10:36pm glenn:

www.ibtimes.com...
Avatar 10:37pm still b/p:

The nuttiness of them and other characters doing their "thing," -- Haney, Kimball, etc. -- is fun, but like other shows of its time, it was primarily a frustration comedy...the endless frustration of Oliver, which makes it tough to take in anything but small doses.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:38pm coelacanth∅:

i do not remember that character. when we were little we watched green acres but laughed AT it nearly as much as with it. dumb country bumpkins and spoiled city slicker(s?) ironic because where did we get that but from our parents, and each of them (independent of each other, as they became) ultimately revealed a great fondness for country music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:39pm Uncle Michael:

I'll read that tomorrow, glenn....thanks.

Night all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:40pm coelacanth∅:

'night UM
Avatar 10:41pm Little Danny:

Don't go UM! Can't you sleep in tomorrow?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:43pm Uncle Michael:

Avatar 10:51pm still b/p:

I'm gonna guess these guys got high.
Avatar 10:52pm Little Danny:

Hahaha. They might also have been doing what they'd was music made by turned-on teens. I mean, they were from Waco after all
  10:55pm zonk ludlow:

Danny, for weeks now I've been racking my brain trying to place the artist responsible for the 'welcome to the club' background vibes. Able to put me out of my misery?

The Flying Nun flavor sits well with Candace. Thanks for the knowledge, like em.

Harold Hutchison of Knights Bridge Quintet went on to be in "Hair," either in the original New York Production or a touring version, dependin' on who you believe.
Avatar 11:16pm still b/p:

..and then, oh, soooo high.
Avatar 11:16pm Little Danny:

I love "Hair" but that's definitely a step away from "Sorrow in C Major"!

Avatar 11:48pm Little Danny:

Fun fact difabs! 'Bout time you showed up!
  11:51pm zonk ludlow:

To Danny and all flamers, trust what ever you intend doing over Christmas that it is joyous & all the best for 2018. My intention is to lie on a beach and listen to the lapping waves.
Avatar 11:53pm Little Danny:

Ah, same and same and same over to you Zonk! I'll see you one last time in 2017 and then we press boldly on into the new year
