xtc sidebar: man, do I miss Colin Moulding's song writing...still out of the biz, as far as I know. A 'solo' deal for him would be a slam dunk. Shame.

Dean:

Without spoiling it entirely, Doug, what did you do on your summer vacation?
Avatar 11:21am
Kurt Gottschalk:

here's a great trick for when you don't have a paper done on time: hand in a previous paper that's already graded. then, next class period when the professor calls it to your attention, look confused and check your folder, where you'll find the completed paper you "inadvertently" didn't turn in last session.

i've actually done that.
Avatar 11:21am
Kurt Gottschalk:

wait, do people still turn in printed papers? are papers still paper?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21am
Doug Schulkind:

I'll start the next paper at noon...

My kid finished grad school last year, and as far as I know, she still was handing in hard-copy papers.
  11:24am

We'll know we've turned the corner when professors require papers measured in bytes, rather than words or pages.
