Howdy do Stan, welcome back.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm Stanley:

Now, where were we before I succumbed to the jet lag crash out, yesterday?
Avatar 12:18pm Bill Mac:

Yes it was yesterday.... How much of it did you miss?
Captains birthday tomorrow - any requests?
Avatar 12:18pm Sem Chumbo:

Doesn't end well for the cabbage: trailingtrekker.files.wordpress.com...

Yes, Stanley, you were about book a beret fitting next time you visited NZ.
Avatar 12:21pm Sem Chumbo:

Ms. Jones has the serious chops. Lovely.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm Stanley:

I think I was prattling on about Alex Harvey then I fell into the void.
That's right Sem but got most confused why the berets are sent from France to NZ to then send them out to the world.

"Sam With The Showing Scalp Flat Top", please. I'm particular to the point it makes
Avatar 12:23pm Bill Mac:

So does Rosie Grier
Avatar 12:24pm Bill Mac:

Great pic Sem!
Avatar 12:27pm Sem Chumbo:

De nada, Mr. Mac.

Stanley: the man at the Beret Project is a Dutchman. He knows more about SELLING berets than the French. I bought one a few years back from a French concern. It was weeks and weeks, over-priced, and a shitty hat besides. Daan had my order here in NS in 13 days flat, in the middle of December, and made a few bucks. Voila.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm Stanley:

That makes sense. I wouldn't be surprised if you tried to buy one in France they would ask you why you wanted one.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm Stanley:

Ah, I remember this. (Now, I realise why I didn't have many friends when I was young)
Avatar 12:33pm Sem Chumbo:

I've been reading THE LOCAL from Paris for the past few months, marveling at the alien culture that is France. Today I see the French government wants to put CCTV in all the abattoirs because animal slaughter needs to be watched closely, or they just need a shoe-string addition to the state-owned broadcast network.
Sacre bleu!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34pm fred:

@Stanley: buying a beret in France would be an ordeal. You're likely to get ripped off as a tourist. You'd have to prove you're legit. No idea how you do that, I'm 1/8th Tunisian, and was told loudly that this not acceptable
Avatar 12:35pm Sem Chumbo:

These are the spins that last. Wonderful, Captain Zzzzzzero.
Avatar 12:36pm Bill Mac:

They truly are Sem.... Right Right, just dig it! I wish I had a pair of bongos!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36pm Stanley:

Bill, thanks.
Any chance of Roughneck and Thug?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45pm doctorjazz:

Avatar 12:49pm Bill Mac:

Yeah, CB is a bit hairy a listening experience
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49pm fred:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55pm Stanley:

Tinariwen - just the ticket on this feezing cold day.
Avatar 12:55pm Sem Chumbo:

Lovin' how this set is playing out.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55pm Stanley:

Avatar 12:55pm Bill Mac:

Yeah - nice and arid
Avatar 12:56pm Brian in UK:

Hello sensation seekers.
Youngest daughters' birthday. About to cook half a dozen dishes. Already under the influence of sister gin.

I played Tinariwen to someone who liked the Ingerlish blues boys from the Sixties. He said what is this crap? Saints preserve us.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57pm Stanley:

Hi Brian. Mmmmm that smells nice
Avatar 12:57pm Brian in UK:

Arid & Feezing. We can resolve your plumbing problems at a stroke. Our bills will give you a stroke.
Avatar 12:57pm Bill Mac:

His royal Brianness! Happy Birthday to the youngest, wish I could partake.
As long as YOU know Tinariwen doesn't suck
Avatar 12:58pm Brian in UK:

Their bass player is the coolest musician on this swinging sphere.
Avatar 1:00pm Brian in UK:

After Mdur Moctar. Excuse spelling.

Avatar 1:00pm Sem Chumbo:

Just gin-spelling, Brian. Think nothing of it.
Avatar 1:02pm Brian in UK:

Sem I have seen the man but still do not know how it goes.

Heavy Manners, was that Prof. Green?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04pm Stanley:

..with the lead piping?
Avatar 1:04pm Sem Chumbo:

...in the bidet?
Avatar 1:04pm Brian in UK:

Going to dig out Keith Hudson's Brand.
Dub it and dig it.
Still listening, Bill, off to the kitchen.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:17pm Scraps:

Did the Bad Brains documentary cover their hatred of gays (and subsequently their dislike of the Big Boys)?
Avatar 1:19pm Bill Mac:

Yeah, there was something about that in particular. Can't remember the details. HR was a lunatic.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21pm Scraps:

Good. I so liked Bad Brains, and when that came I was really disappointed.

(I like Billy Preston's "Will It Go Round In Circles".)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:22pm Scraps:

came = came out
Avatar 1:24pm Bill Mac:

Apparently their big break came when they were asked to tour with the Beastie Boys and HR didn't show for the opening date. Quite a bit of hostility between him and the other band members throughout their career, but what a band when they were together.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27pm Scraps:

Apparently HR's beef was with any bands with BB in their initials
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28pm Scraps:

Slapp Happy!!!
  1:29pm melinda:

Avatar 1:29pm Bill Mac:

He was a pretty mellow interview, but you could tell there was something off
Avatar 1:30pm Bill Mac:

Hello Mel!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30pm Stanley:

Enjoying the show, Bill but it's time to trudge accross the tundra.
Take care my friend until next time.
Avatar 1:30pm Bill Mac:

Thanks Stanley, I'll be back! See ya!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31pm Scraps:

(Also like Billy Preston's "Nothing from Nothing". Incidentally.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm Scraps:

Every song by Slapp Happy is a classic!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm Scraps:

Will it go round in circles
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36pm Fran:

Hello all - flying visit!
  1:37pm rw:

Hola! Busy Saturday. LOVE Slapp Happy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37pm Scraps:

The only by Slapp Happy to get covered a couple of times was "Blue Flower", though I forget who the bands were
Avatar 1:38pm Bill Mac:

Heyo Fran and rw!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38pm Fran:

Just missed Slapp Happy! - seeing them with Faust in London next month and can't wait!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39pm Scraps:

Avatar 1:39pm Sem Chumbo:

  1:39pm rw:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm Fran:

Sem!!!! Beep Beep!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41pm Scraps:

rw, I was thinking of asking Mary Wing to play Blue Flower! Ha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:42pm Scraps:

I have seen Peter Blegvad several times, and he every once in a while played Slapp Happy songs
Avatar 1:44pm Sem Chumbo:

Good thing I'm wearing my heavenly underwear. I can now appreciate this more than most.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:50pm melinda:

It's a Bee Gees kind of Saturday.
Avatar 1:51pm Bill Mac:

I was raggin on them yesterday, but you can't touch this gem
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53pm melinda:

During the show? I must have missed it. Flash Strap did an entire program of Bee Gees!
Avatar 1:54pm Bill Mac:

Taking out of context... didn't like disco Bee Gees, love their 60s material
Avatar 1:56pm Sem Chumbo:

Hey, great Neil Innes cover.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm Fran:

Bee Gees - Odessa, Horizontal and Idea - wonderful records
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm melinda:

I like disco Bee Gees but the early stuff was a revelation. Great stuff.
Avatar 1:58pm Bill Mac:

Yeah what you guys said.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:04pm Fran:

The complete Fuzzy Warbles which came in a great stamp collectors album box set - I remember buying from J&R Music in NY years ago on a visit! Happy Days.....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:04pm melinda:

Early Steve Winwood was also a revelation for me.
Avatar 2:08pm Bill Mac:

@Fran It's a great set. I love outtakes and demos
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:10pm Fran:

Its been short and its been sweet but I gotta go in 5 minutes! Bill - thanks for the alert re: this Grapefruit set which is on my shopping list now! As for Andy Partridge demos - they are a treat and as good as having the finished articles in some cases - what that guy gets up to in his shed in Swindon! Enjoy the rest of the weekend everyone and more soon I hope!
Avatar 2:11pm Bill Mac:

OK Fran Thanks for hangin. See you some time soon!
Avatar 2:12pm Sem Chumbo:

Later, Fran!
  2:18pm andy in berlin:

Avatar 2:19pm Bill Mac:

Hi Andy... hey you missed Nomi earlier...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:20pm melinda:

  2:21pm andy in berlin:

Shucks, well that was a good one.
Avatar 2:24pm Sem Chumbo:

Phase shift for Bobbi on this one. Wow.
Avatar 2:26pm Bill Mac:

Hah, Barrence is making it snow!
Avatar 2:31pm Sem Chumbo:

Jeez, the bass in the Chorus getting down there sub-sonic.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:31pm Ken From Hyde Park:

The state of California is thankful for all the water they're enjoying now.
Avatar 2:38pm Sem Chumbo:

Apropos nothing whatever.
Status Quo send-up via Alberto Y lost trios Paranoias:www.youtube.com...
Perhaps you are familiar?
Avatar 2:41pm Bill Mac:

Never heard of them.... they got that thin pop punk sound thing going. I'll examine this further...
Avatar 2:43pm Brian in UK:

Bought Paper Sun on single. One of the few that I bought, Why buy singles when you could hear them on the radio.
Avatar 2:44pm Bill Mac:

They were cheap enough and it kept you from buying drugs, right?
Avatar 2:46pm Brian in UK:

I was lucky that albums arrived via The Beatles who realised that this was a whole new world. No need to cheat the punters with A & B sides on albums.
Avatar 2:53pm Sem Chumbo:

This show wins the coveted Long Blue Tongue Ossicone award for Saturday afternoon radio. Your statuette is in the mail. Thanks, Bill, see ya later. Later, BiuK.
Avatar 2:55pm Bill Mac:

Thanks Sem. I hope it fits in the mail box. See you soon
Avatar 2:58pm Brian in UK:

There is an old Ken Dodd joke where he says I put a banana through a neighbours letterbox and shouted "The aliens have landed".
Avatar 2:59pm Bill Mac:

That's it fer me! Wonderful spending some quality time with you all. Enjoy your lives, I'll be back!
  2:59pm rw:

Thanks Mr. Mac!
Avatar 3:00pm Brian in UK:

Avatar 3:00pm Brian in UK:

Is that it.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:03pm melinda:
