Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

The link for Cataby notes that it includes the The Cataby Important Bird Area. Which inevitably calls up a mental picture of birds in three piece suits and watch chains strutting around with their beaks in the air and their eyes closed in disdain for all around them.

Avatar 12:59pm βrian:

They're a little messy, these tacos, but they double up on the tortillas.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm Parq:

IMDB: Jack Palance plays as a demented art dealer & antique-shop owner who performs nightly rituals in honor of the African god Chuku, whom he believes will reward him with unimaginable wealth and power if he merely offers up human sacrifice. His methods are fairly creative, ranging from impalement, slashing and burning, to scaring people to death with an ooga-booga fright mask
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02pm Uncle Michael:

Brian, street tacos should always have double tortillas.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02pm Uncle Michael:

Does IMDB use the term "ooga-booga fright mask"?

"Nude on the Moon",haha!
Avatar 2:34pm hyde:

@ndbob yeah, she came and spoke before a 35mm screening of Nude on the Moon. and she was hilariously surly and dismissive during the q & a, it was great.

UM, click starring Camille Howard!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37pm Uncle Michael:

It can't be helped, Steve.
Avatar 2:37pm ndbob:

@hyde some of her movies are just mind-boggling - particularly the ones where the sound isn't synched - in one scene with a couple minutes of dialogue the camera focuses only on a plant on the ceiling
Avatar 2:37pm geezerette:

1916?! It sounds great!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:38pm Sweet Corn Lizzie:

Robinson Crusoe go - this brings back memories of my old high school days with Dr Demento! Thanks.

With artisanal megaphones.
Avatar 2:40pm geezerette:

Dr. Demento! @SCL:, thanks for remembering!
Avatar 2:40pm hyde:

@ndbob it's so true. there's also one where she basically pans away from characters having a conversation to focus on a dresser for about 30 seconds. amazing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:40pm Stevel:

Just saw and discovered the Nude on the Moon trailer. So much to learn.
Avatar 2:42pm ndbob:

@hyde "Another Day, Another Man" and "Bad Girls Go To Hell" defy belief - and there's one wiht Harry Reems in his pre "Deep Throat" days
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42pm Rich in Washington:

Al Jolson was a human megaphone.

To paraphrase Doug last show, I ADORE the communal feeling. Still, "the communal feeling of Hinky Dinky Time" sounds a little creepy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:44pm Stevel:

Pretty cool, indeed. Having paused for a smoke and a bourbon this afternoon, I was thinking that you're just damned good at radio. Decided I didn't need to think it out much further.

Avatar 2:47pm hyde:

@ndbob i think Harvard showed the Harry Reems one that year. they also had a double feature of the two Chesty Morgan movoies, which was spectacular
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:47pm annie:

i've been listening to radio(FMU), have the teevee on mute with random bad movies, drinking grapefruit juice with NO booze in it, and eating peanut butter with jam scooped out by spoon. absolute heaven.. AND i'm playing solitaire.
