Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:02pm Carmichael:

Avatar 3:02pm Sarah N:

Avatar 3:02pm Peter Nelson:

Hi Gaz, Carmichael
Avatar 3:04pm Sarah N:

Avatar 3:05pm Peter Nelson:

Hi Lewis
Avatar 3:06pm Sarah N:

Hi Lewis - this broadcast comes to you from just outside the town of "Lewis" (spelled "Lewes").
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:07pm Carmichael:

Take your word for it, Sarah ...
Avatar 3:09pm jared_c_balogh:

Wuz Up Peter! Listening now as I work.

Hey Jared!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:10pm listener james from westwood:

Dig this throwback-ish synth sound.
Avatar 3:11pm Peter Nelson:

Solomun is very hot right now. 2 BBC residencies this year.

Avatar 3:12pm Sarah N:

Mmmmm, nice farty bass!
Avatar 3:14pm Peter Nelson:

Thanks Ryan. Great to have you here.
Avatar 3:14pm Sarah N:

Hey Ryan and Jared!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:21pm Carmichael:

Wasn't "farty bass" an episode of Fawlty Towers?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:22pm Lewis:

@sarah N - very cool! I especially like that it is coming from "just outside"
Avatar 3:24pm Sarah N:

@Carmichael - ha ha - "farty owls" was one of my favourite titles.
@Lewis - many good things are associated with the name Lewis...
Avatar 3:25pm Sarah N:

Lewis, Louis, Lewes, Loooo-issss...
  3:28pm MrFab:

Yep, great show so far Peter. Tho your level on the mic break was way low. had to put the volume up to hear you, then the music came on loud and pushed the vol back down. A minor quibble...
Avatar 3:29pm Sarah N:

Anyone seen the TV show "Lewis"? An offshoot of "Morse"...
Avatar 3:32pm Peter Nelson:

Greetings Mr Fab. Thanks for the mic quibble. See what I can do.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:32pm Doug Schulkind:

Shake shake shake, shake your BODHI!
Avatar 3:33pm Sarah N:

Avatar 3:33pm Peter Nelson:

Shake yer Dugs!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33pm Doug Schulkind:

Avatar 3:35pm Sarah N:

Mmmm, this one sounds like a Bodhi shaker!
Avatar 3:37pm Peter Nelson:

My mic is at max and I'm right up close. I've turned down the music level to make less of a difference.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:37pm Doug Schulkind:

Boris and Deniz. Sounds like a Saturday morning TV cartoon show.
Avatar 3:38pm Peter Nelson:

An adult cartoon show, I think.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:40pm Doug Schulkind:

No, that's Boris and Peniz.
Avatar 3:41pm Sarah N:

Nice one! Ha ha.
Avatar 3:42pm Peter Nelson:

Chuckle helmets on! Doug's town.
Avatar 3:43pm Peter Nelson:

that should have read 'Doug's IN town'.
Avatar 3:44pm Sarah N:

Alpha Pup! Damn cute name for a label.
Yep, can feel my giggle meter rising... thanks Doug.
Avatar 3:46pm Sarah N:

Oh yeah. Anyone else got their hands in the air?

Avatar 3:47pm Peter Nelson:

Thanks to my mate Gaz for this one.
  3:48pm Gaz:

This one was on my turntable at the weekend.
Lovely little groover.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:48pm Doug Schulkind:

Chuckle helmet sounds like a prophylactic device.
Avatar 3:49pm Peter Nelson:

  3:49pm Gaz:

You're f@cking w#l@ome..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:55pm Doug Schulkind:

Mic level sounds good.
  3:58pm Listener Robert:

People at WFMU should talk more about how the live schedule of this stream has been filling out over the past year. This is an accomplishment that should be more widely advertised.
Avatar 3:59pm Peter Nelson:

Hello Listener Robert
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:00pm listener james from westwood:

Hear hear, Robert.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:00pm Doug Schulkind:

Ear ear, Robert!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:02pm Doug Schulkind:

And our sister stream, Rock 'n' Soul Ichiban has been expanding, too. These are earxciting times!
Avatar 4:02pm Sarah N:

Ere's and ears to Doug for making it happen!
Avatar 4:04pm Peter Nelson:

Actually, this is just a nice bit of techno. The smoking bit doesn't come in 'till right at the end.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:04pm Doug Schulkind:

To ear is human.
Avatar 4:05pm Sarah N:

You station tube.
Avatar 4:05pm Peter Nelson:

To forge Eves is divine.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:09pm listener james from westwood:

Always happy for a nice bit of techno. Smokin' track all the way through.
Avatar 4:10pm Peter Nelson:

Good man James...you get it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:11pm listener james from westwood:

@Doug: Yes indeed, love some of the new shows on Ichiban. Diesel Smoke & Dangerous Curves is a nice complement to the air-signal's Honkytonk Radio Gal show. Reminds me of Betsy Nichols's show some yrs back.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:19pm Doug Schulkind:

And what a fine show name.
Avatar 4:26pm Sarah N:

  4:30pm MarieD:

Avatar 4:30pm Sarah N:

Birds with chipmunks on backing vocals. Beautiful.
Avatar 4:30pm Peter Nelson:

Hello MarieD. Isn't it though?
Avatar 4:35pm Sarah N:

And this track follows on so well...
  4:35pm Listener Robert:

But on the Web site, it's not advertised that the Ichiban has distinct programs at all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:36pm Doug Schulkind:

@Listener Robert
If you go to the Ichiban blog, look at the "Live" column on the righthand margin: wfmuichiban.blogspot.com
Avatar 4:37pm glenn:

calm and i are not presently on speaking terms. rage, on the other hand...
Avatar 4:38pm Sarah N:

Hello raging glenn!
Avatar 4:40pm Peter Nelson:

Hi Glenn. The photo was taken in Woodstock...where all is calm...if you can afford it.
Avatar 4:40pm Sarah N:

Love your bear and fox cub photos.
  4:43pm Listener Robert:

Thanks, Doug. Will you admit it's not prominent placement? They could have a schedule page, or an inline frame with boxes like that.
  4:45pm Listener Robert:

Take this page, for example, from another streaming service:

The schedule is very prominent on the right. Hard to miss, even.
Avatar 4:46pm Dishpig:

Ah! here it is...been looking for the chatroom widget thingumybob! Greetings from Planet Yorkshire! Exclamation mark!
Avatar 4:47pm Peter Nelson:

Hey Dishpig. Salut!
Avatar 4:47pm Sarah N:

This track reminds me of the flock of geese which flew over this morning. Such a great sound they make. Honk!

Yay Dishpig!
Avatar 4:48pm Dishpig:

Avatar 4:48pm Sarah N:

Are the piglets listening too?
Avatar 4:48pm Dishpig:

Not tonight I'm afraid...school night :( They freakin' loved the last show tho ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:49pm Doug Schulkind:

@Listener Robert
Agree with you 100%.

Avatar 4:59pm Dishpig:

Saw Dylan too, 1990. Miserable bugger. Good tho.
Avatar 4:59pm Sarah N:

Otis - that's the fella.

@Sarah, Great place to be, I spent the summer of '89 in the Adirondacks, oop North. Best trip I ever made. Ever. And I've made some trips, so I have. Did you fun?
Avatar 5:14pm Sarah N:

@pig - "Adirondacks" one of the great place names along with "Schnectady". We had a lovely time.... Didn't we send a postcard??
  5:14pm Gaz:

Huwers I tell thee, huwers, lot of 'em !
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:15pm Charlie:

Here, finally. Had an appointment, now I'm home and tuned in.
Avatar 5:15pm Peter Nelson:

Hey Charlie. Welcome.
Avatar 5:16pm Sarah N:

Yay, welcome Charlie!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:19pm Doug Schulkind:

Hope you've got your chuckle helmet on, Charlie! (For safest listening.)
Avatar 5:22pm Dishpig:

@Gaz ??? wots one of them, pray tell?
@Sarah, yeah, always loved Schenectady...still runs round my head as a repeated word occasioanlly, just for the joy of saying it. Postcard musta got lost in t'post :( Damn them!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:23pm Brian in UK:

I like Poughkeepsie meself. Rarely pick my feet!

Do you go to the Bonfire Night in Lewes?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:24pm Charlie:

I've always got my chuckle helmet on, @Doug! It's made out of chewy candy.
Avatar 5:24pm Dishpig:

@brian, yeah! another good 'un. Ticonderoga!
Avatar 5:25pm Sarah N:

Brian! Snap! I was just typing in Poughkeepsie!
We have never been to the famous Bonfire Night. Young man's game!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:26pm Charlie:

I went to school in Poughkeepsie. While I was there a record came out called "Poughkeepsie, City of Sin" by a band called Batteries Not Included. We were all quite pleased with that!
Avatar 5:27pm Peter Nelson:

Adirondaks does sound like a disease. There's a village near Lewes called 'Ringmer', which I think sounds like an illness of sheep. (Or something you get if you don't wear a chuckle helmet)
Avatar 5:27pm Sarah N:

@Brian - we have a distant view of it from our house.

And then there's "Hoboken" which has taken on a certain meaning in our house...

Oh wow Charlie.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:28pm Charlie:

I just finished a P.G.Wodehouse novel which took place near Lewes. One character was bringing her dog to the vet in Lewes, the neighboring town.
Avatar 5:31pm Sarah N:

Wow, coincidence Charlie. Hilarious stuff that Wodehouse. I've never actually read any. Only seen on TV.
Avatar 5:32pm Peter Nelson:

Sussex is like that...we used to live in Pooh's 100 Acre Wood near Arthur Conan Doyle's house.
Avatar 5:32pm Sarah N:

Now, you definitely have to come round for breakfast Charlie!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:33pm Brian in UK:

Lee Miller was born in Poughkeepsie and died in Chiddingly near Lewes. A wonderful photographer and artist.

Before I get off the air, I will be ON THE AIR with another Give the Drummer Some. This evening's broadcast celebrates the approach of WFMU's October silent fundraiser. But shhhh! It's silent! See: wfmu.org...

And after Give the Drummer Some, Jesse Kaminsky takes over the Drummer Stream with a three-hour broadcast from Jamaica Plain, Massachuetts. It's Kaminsky Kamoutsky! Here: wfmu.org...

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:37pm Webhamster Henry:

(ill)famed film director Ed Wood was also born in Poughkeepsie.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:37pm Charlie:

Yes, Brian, Lee Miller looks interesting. Funny coincidence, Poughkeepsie to Lewes...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:41pm Doug Schulkind:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:44pm Brian in UK:

Charlie, they do celebrate Bonfire Night differently in Lewes for a month before and a month after in the villages around. I went into a pub and there was a man with a skull mask, black clothes and top hat with feather, New Orleans it felt like. As I say different.
Avatar 5:48pm Sarah N:

Ah, so you braved it Brian. It's a commitment. Shops all get boarded up for the night!
