Jeff Golick:

...did the show recently cut back to the stream...? How are things looking by you, Kurt?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:32am
Jeff Golick:

That is: not hearing Crispell/Hemingway now!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:33am
Gary:

I'm hearing a song with the chorus "gotta get away right now gotta get away ..."
Avatar 9:33am
Kurt Gottschalk:

oh damn, yes it seems to have. i guess i should stop and restart?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:34am
Gary:

Yes, that might fix it, Kurt
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:34am
listener james from westwood:

Was wondering about that GTDR ID I heard a minute back.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:35am
Alex In Illinois:

Should we stop and restart our players too?
Avatar 9:37am
Kurt Gottschalk:

nope, doesn't seem to be overriding. sigh.

I'm on the highway. Is everything okay? I didn't know I wasn't hearing a live show until I heard Doug promo at the bottom of the hour.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:39am

Hmmm. You've clicked the stop/play button in SAMcast?
Try Amanda or Matt, if you have their info handy?

Hi all, great show so far!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:42am
Alex In Illinois:

It started out okay. I am pretty sure I was hearing Lester Bowie's brass work earlier.
Avatar 9:44am
Kurt Gottschalk:

we're trying here. thanks for the lookout!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:44am
Alex In Illinois:

@Doctorjazz: all of the music has been good, but somewhere after Lester Bowie, the music we started hearing and the music that Kurt is actually programming diverged, so that it reverted back to the stream instead of the current show. So that is what the recent comments have been about.
Avatar 9:47am
glenn:

two shows today, kurt?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:50am
doctorjazz:

Ahhh, the playlist says Marylyn Crispell, I'm hearing country music, must be the stream (the pop up player lists what is on the playlist). Just came back from a meeting, missed the earlier conversation.
Avatar 9:51am
glenn:

funny, if a little sad. www.washingtonpost.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:54am
doctorjazz:

We are just on the stream (which ain't bad), nothing has been listed after Crispell on the playlist.
Avatar 9:55am
Kurt Gottschalk:

we're working on it. it's a tricky picasso, apparently.
Avatar 9:55am

Dayton Sidewinders is what I'm hearing.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:58am

Feeling your pain, Kurt, and wanting you to know that I'll hang until you get it sorted. (Then I'm leaving in a huff.)
Avatar 9:58am
βrian:

Now I'm hearing Malai Kofta Kashmiri ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:59am
Alex In Illinois:

@doctorjazz: I thought I would bring you up to speed mainly because I did not want anyone to mistake my comment about things being good until after Lester Bowie for a critical remark about music programming choices. I've actually been enjoying both the intentional and unintentional music choices. I think stream issues like this have happened to everyone at least once. It has even happened to Doug a few times.
Avatar 10:00am
ndbob:

Same here
Avatar 10:01am
duke:

It's all good either way. I'm sure Kurt is pulling his hair out, but the music is good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:03am
doctorjazz:

Haven't been listening previously when the program didn't work and the stream took over. Have to say, that the whole thing works at all is amazing to me, and all the music put into the database that is the stream is just amazing. Don't know what it took to set it up, but I'm sure it must have been some undertaking. Hoping Kurt gets back on, though!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:05am
Webhamster Henry:

It kind of reminds me of when my radio would drift over to WPAT, and I'd think "What is Irwin up to now?"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:06am
Jeff Golick:

...so...close...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:06am
listener james from westwood:

@Alex and @doctorjazz: True that re: Doug. Stream glitches here and there for everyone now and again. And also true re: the fact that all of this works, esp. on such a tightly run and -funded ship as FMU.
Music just switched out of "Begin the Beguine"—good sign?
Avatar 10:07am
Kurt Gottschalk:

i think we're back!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:07am
Webhamster Henry:

That was the Ferrante & Teicher reject filter kicking in.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:07am
listener james from westwood:

Doug has noticed occasionally that MORE people hop on the stream during outages, and nobody seems to drop. That GTDR baseline station is a killer one!
Yay Kurt!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:07am
listener james from westwood:

And yay Webmaster Henry! F&T can get theirs some other day!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:16am
Webhamster Henry:

I wonder what shows up in the archive when the stream cuts out like that?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:19am
listener james from westwood:

Oh, I am glad we didn't miss this one!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:22am
Jeff Golick:

@Webhamster Henry: it depends on whether the dj is recording a version locally or not. If so, the archive is as the show was played. If not, the archived show is as it was heart (ie, with the stream cut-ins).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:22am
Jeff Golick:

heart = hearD
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:26am

Thanks @Jeff!

i was recording a backup but we restarted the computer so there's not that neither. ah well - radio is supposed to be ephemeral anyway.
Avatar 10:28am

alex - the difference in name color is probably just due to whether or not you've clicked on someone's name to see their profile in the past, like any other 'already clicked' link.
