2 Jeffs, 2 hours coincidence?
Avatar 12:04pm holland oats:

2 comments. no, wait.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:05pm listener james from westwood:

Howdy, Jeff and Jeff! Happy to be here!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:08pm Jeff Golick:

No such thing as coincidence. Hola to you, @holland oats, @duke, and @listener james. Cookies for all of you.

  12:11pm aeari:

That recurring bass note. It's horn and base? It sounds thick.
Avatar 12:12pm duke:

This track really is nice
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12pm Jeff Golick:

Hi @aeari -- Brown is the only horn, so just bass I think. Maybe the piano doubles it in some cases, though?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13pm Jeff Golick:

Agreed, duke.
Here's your line-up:
Alto Saxophone – Marion Brown
Bass – Gon Mizuhashi
Drums – Warren Smith
Piano – Dave Burrell
  12:14pm aeari:

Er. 'bass'. I'm hung on the base bass note.
Hm, piano. Yeah.
It's beautiful.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17pm Jeff Golick:

Agreed. I'm wondering if they started the concert with this cut. Pretty ballsy to start out at this pace...
Avatar 12:18pm holland oats:

never heard this (as i say so many times in gtdr-land), lovely
Avatar 12:19pm holland oats:

what's 79118 mean?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm Jeff Golick:

Sweet, @holland oats. And you might get a chance to hear it again via another artist in a bit...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm Jeff Golick:

@ho: date of the concert: 11/8/79
Avatar 12:20pm holland oats:

Avatar 12:22pm holland oats:

so if this concert was on February 10th 1990 it would've been called 90210
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm Jeff Golick:

I like the way you think, oats.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30pm fred:

Good afternoon Jeffs and non-Jeffs.
I saw Joe McPhee (with Chris Corsano) a couple of weeks ago. Good stuff, obviously. His look was different this time: he was wearing a hoodie with the hood on and played a white and orange sax part of the time. The hoodie was stage dress, he wasn't wearing it before or after the show
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34pm Jeff Golick:

Hi fred! While image searching for a playlist photo of McPhee, I came across a recent one of his in a hoodie -- from the Wire, I think. Perhaps a political statement of sorts.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:41pm fred:

I found a video of that show: www.youtube.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:42pm Jeff Golick:

Ah, thanks, fred. Will check after this show. Got some McPhee/Corsano lined up, as it happens. Not sure if we'll have room for it, though...
  12:57pm aeari:

Hmmmm, this second November Cotton Flower. I doubt I'd have recognized it if not for the title.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58pm Jeff Golick:

Yeah, it's pretty abstracted.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03pm listener james from westwood:

Shiver me Novembers! Loved this seasonal first hour!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09pm Jeff Golick:

So glad to hear it, listener james. I daresay November has produced some lovely music.
Avatar 1:12pm Brian in UK:

Evenin' gents. If the other months of this year are anything to go by, two blinks and it will be December. So, some slow blinking music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm Jeff Golick:

Good evening, Brian! Keeping it slow and steady today.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27pm Jeff Golick:

...though the pace does quicken in a mo.
Avatar 1:32pm Brian in UK:

Feeling more tortoise than hare. But I do like a good hare.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:33pm Jeff Golick:

Nice, Brian. And a drummer at that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36pm Jeff Golick:

Was standing by this sculpture on Saturday: encrypted-tbn2.gstatic.com... It's by a running track.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36pm listener james from westwood:

Must sally forth to take advantage of a gap in work to buy new glasses. At last, my proofreading will be accurate! Thanks, Jeff!!
Avatar 1:37pm Brian in UK:

Love Barry Flanagan's work as you can see from my avatar 'Opera Dog'.
Avatar 1:38pm Brian in UK:

http does not compute for me, Jeff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38pm Jeff Golick:

See ya, Sally! Happy seeing, in fact. Thanks for being here.

Just the minute got back. Damn. Damn. Damn!
  2:03pm Dean:

And then there's Oakland's Groove Yard Records, operated by Rick Ballard, who used to distribute hatHut LPs in N. America. He has sealed copies of some of the old hat catalog.
Avatar 2:05pm northguineahills:

wait, I thought this went until 3!
Avatar 2:05pm holland oats:

great as always d:o
  2:05pm aeari:

Thanks Jeff and Jeff. And and and..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07pm Jeff Golick:

Thanks for that, Dean. Wasn't aware of Rick!
Sorry, @ngh - we did; retooling; 2 hours for a spell, then back to 3.
Thanks, @holland oats.
And to you, @aeari!

And I don't have to tell you, Doug, about the beauty of the archives...
Avatar 2:08pm Jesse K:

thanks for the tunes Jeffs, I'll just listen to silence for the next hour to retool my ears.
Avatar 2:11pm duke:

The only good thing about one hour less of D:O is that I can catch the last hour of Irene's show. Thanks for the great show Jeffs
