Act 1, Scenario 1!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:01pm Jeff Golick:

It's freakin freezing in here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02pm fred:

I hope there's (liquid) water where you are
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04pm Rich in Washington:

They say water's the one thing we look for when searching for potential for life on other planets.
A deep freeze is just nature's way of wiping the slate clean.
Avatar 12:06pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...°F temperatures up in the double-digits up heah in New Hampshuh! It's pretty exciting. Now if the same thing could happen w/ IQs har har...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07pm Amanda:

That's kind of a tall order
Avatar 12:07pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...wull - that'd be triple-digits really...guess *I'm* off the Genius label...
Avatar 12:23pm northguineahills:

It's actually above freezing here.

For some reason, I've always liked the Pizzicato Five.

It's triple digits here, if you use the Kelvin scale.
Avatar 12:25pm glenn:

is there a Hobbes scale?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27pm Amanda:

Oooooooohhhhh burn. FREEZER burn, that is.
Avatar 12:28pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...ask that mob of living snowmen glenn...

Scrooge was about not paying the working poor enuff & stuff. You're not a 'Scrooge' to hate the obligatory over-the-top b.s. Xmas has become. MHO.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40pm Rich in Washington:

Hmmm.. Flash isn't working here. Every time the playlist refreshes, it freaks out.
Maybe the flash pipes are frozen.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43pm Rich in Washington:

I forgot to wrap my network cables and leave a heatlamp on under my internet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43pm pacific standard simon:

This is the first Christmas in almost two decades that I haven't been on the graveyard shift. Even when I had the holiday off, I would have to wake up at some inappropriate hour and eat a huge meal that my stomach was unprepared to receive.
Avatar 12:44pm ndbob:

afternoon Amanda and everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45pm Matt F:

End theme from "Sea Monkeys"! Hoorah
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47pm pacific standard simon:

And then sit up all night at my in-laws', watching the Christmas Story marathon, while everyone else slept.
Avatar 12:47pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

NewHampshuh's own: Queers.

See monkey doo.
Avatar 1:03pm nanantatee:

is there a schedule for this drummer stream? i love this show and thought it was lost 'til i heard another dj promote it yesterday
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04pm Dominick:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm Uncle Michael:

Thanks, Dominick...you're faster than I!
Avatar 1:08pm nanantatee:

Thanks also what does it mean? Are all the djs drummers? Is there a concept? I feel like it's unpredictable but often there's a lot of old school r&b and rockabilly stuff playing.
Avatar 1:08pm northguineahills:

fyi, a cursory search for Ben Lee's 7" 'Exposure' has the date at multiple sites for the year of release as, "unknown".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13pm Amanda:

@nanantatee, it is named after Doug Schulkind's show Give The Drummer Some. Doug started the alternate stream after he moved out of the NYC/NJ area. Thanks for your nice words!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13pm Uncle Michael:

nanantatee, Our fearless leader, Doug Schulkind hosted his show, Give the Drummer Some, on WFMU for many years before starting the alternate stream. The stream takes it's name from his show. You could hear anything on this stream...and will.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:15pm Uncle Michael:

Ignore my errant apostrophes.
Avatar 1:16pm glenn:

huh. non entity. very clever.
Avatar 1:19pm nanantatee:

thanks i thought it was freeform but didn't know if there was any meaning in the name
Avatar 1:20pm nanantatee:

glenn you got it it's from henry miller tropic of cancer
  1:23pm jay c:

ripping the killer tunes as always, thanks for keeping the holiday season rockin
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24pm Amanda:

Well, you are most welcome, jay c!
Avatar 1:25pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...now that you mention it, some part of the back of my brain always thot the stream favored notably Rhythmic music of some kind (World music? primary R&B??) - even tho' I know 'Give the Drummer Some' is a semi-jokey phrase for giving kudos or a chance to shine to the guy in the back in the band...put that maybe in the psyche's recycling bin w/ dreaming @ night about the house you grew up in or your HighSchool locker combo...
Avatar 1:26pm nanantatee:

nazario scenario is my comfort food radio show
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27pm Amanda:

Awwwwwwww, what a kind thing to say! Thanks!
Avatar 1:29pm nanantatee:

thank you! i'm glad to have found the show again. unf. have to run now but great to hear that os mutantes haven't listened to that song in a while. merry holidays everyone!!!!
Avatar 1:30pm glenn:

i can't even remember if i read tropic of cancer. al that henry miller stuff is so ......similar.
Avatar 1:30pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Kinks !...somehow managed to destroy my copy of Village Green CD...

- word nanantatee.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30pm Uncle Michael:

I like to think that anchor the week with a digestif.
Avatar 1:33pm Fernando:

Yeah! Like "Ape Man".
Avatar 1:34pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm Rich in Washington:

@Amanda: I know exactly what you mean. Whenever I hear a Kinks song on someone's show, etc.. I always wonder why I've never taken the plunge and bought loads of their albums.
There are probably lots of other bands that I feel that way about.
Avatar 1:35pm glenn:

yep. that's the best rock and roll band ever.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36pm Jeff Golick:

Kinks last night on Doug's GTDS -- which I listened to this morning.
Avatar 1:39pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Something to say after Amanda's show? Call in live! 2-4pm ET. Twenty minutes from now. nanantatee can ask all questions on air.
Will be at wfmu.org...
Avatar 1:39pm glenn:

and anybody who doesn't agree with me will be forced to listen to foreigner, a la manuel noriega. (even though that may have been van halen, which is just as bad)
Avatar 1:39pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

ElvisCostello is a ♍Virgo who is a little too analytical; when you hear his songs, you can hear him writing them. I will take it - every time - over ubiquitous gratuitous stupidity in Music & the World.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm Dominick:

Gotta agree about Kinks and Elvis C.'s pre Punch the Clock output.
Avatar 1:40pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...Warren Zevon - yup yup & yup.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:42pm Uncle Michael:

I think EC's Warner Bros. releases are rife with gems and deserve reconsideration.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:43pm Doug Schulkind:

Singing yay!
Avatar 1:45pm Danne D:

Yup AmNazz singing is always great :) A staple of her show back to the secret pre-historic days :D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46pm Jeff Golick:

I was in the house when the house ran out of food.
Avatar 1:47pm Danne D:

(aka the Hudson Free Radio days) :)
Avatar 1:48pm Danne D:

(sorry I mean Washington Heights Free Radio days)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:48pm pacific standard simon:

Have to go pretty quick, but just wanted to say that I'm still crazy about this show, and I'm just commenting less because I'm usually getting cleaned up and fed and dressed for work at this time on Wednesdays.
Avatar 1:49pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Gin Blossoms ! Are they a guilty pleasure or is it ok ??...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:49pm Amanda:

Apropos of RevRabbit's theory, let me say hi to all the people I didn't say hi to yet: Hi Danne D, ndbob, Doug, Jeff, Matt, Dominick, ngh, Uncle Michael, glenn, Kenzo, Rich, Fernando, pss, fred, Artie and everyone invisible!
