Yes, yes, top o' the morning to ye
Ricardo Montalban:

Greetin's from the soggy upper left corner of the US

I'm here, ready to be entertained. Deja vu ....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02pm

wtf, the boss was talking over the front end of your show, and i was not clockwatching!!

Can't remember the last time I was here for Amanda, she's either been gone or I have.

What happened to those Throwing Muses University bumper stickers I used to see?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03pm

G, your boss talking over me??? How dare she?

Hey, that's the Instant Mash riff. Joe Jackson's lifted enough material from others that he probably doesn't care.
listener james from westwood:

good wednesday, amanda and all! will be in and out but will have my ears on the show thruout!
Ricardo Montalban:

Can anyone from NY verify whether Handsome Dick still has his bar or not?
Ricardo Montalban:

I destroyed my eardrums blasting The Dictators version of this song on 8-track with headphones when I was a teenager.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12pm

Manitoba's on Avenue B is still active.
Rich Z. - New Jersey, U.S.A.:

This is the kind of music my parents warned me about.
Doug S.:

Remember when Handsome Dick was the celebrity bartender at the first-ever WFMU record fair at the Elk's Lodge in Hoboken? All the partying in the bar area of the Elk's Lodge chewed up the parquet floor and WFMU had to pay for it. (We always thought the floor was in crappy shape before the record fair. Sigh.)

4 Non-Dicks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm

Indeed! BTW, not intended to be an homage to Handsome Dick, but I'm glad it worked out that way.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40pm
Matt from Springfield:

Hi Amanda and Scenarians!
Beefy cut from Capt. Beefheart!

not a big handsome dick fan. http://exclaim.ca/Features/OnTheCover/caribou-math_psychedelia_ass_named_handsome

Did I miss it? Oh no, I missed it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44pm

Are you suggesting that someone who makes good music could be an asshole in real life?

good stuff Amanda!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45pm
Matt from Springfield:

@amEdeo: If you don't slow down once in awhile, you could miss it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45pm
Matt from Springfield:

They do a great Cheap Trickized version of Fats Domino here!
Avatar 12:46pm

Oh well, I am here now. But I will hear them Dicks later.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47pm

@Amedeo - You missed it times two! Listen to the archive though! :-)

I've been bad about saying hi to all of you nice people. HIIIII glenn, terry, MfS, LJfW, Amedeo, Rich Z, Carmichael, Ricardo, G, and not least DOUG!

Hello Amanda and everyone!
Avatar 12:48pm

Hello to all the people-humans!

hey is mr. fiveash there? i got a great band name for him.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm

He is at work right now serving drinks to the people of the east village. Am I matt fiveash's keeper?

Hi ndbob!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm
Matt from Springfield:

Great jangly guitar on the Twerps!

And Hi again Amanda! Hello to all fellow people, humans and other sentients out there.

country joe and the fi(vea)sh
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56pm

For a future Hoof & Mouth performance when Matt duets with Joe McGasko
Ricardo Montalban:

I had forgotten about this!

Somehow these dick songs remind me of George Carlin's schtick about "tits."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58pm

A time-honored tradition, then?

Hi, Martha!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58pm
Matt from Springfield:

This Richard sure likes singing tunes with Dicks in them.

@Amanda: Must suggest for the next H&M!
Gaylord Fields:

I always suspected you were a 13-year old boy. This just confirms it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm

Hi Gaylord! Yes, I wondered if there was ever any doubt about my true "soul age" and "soul gender."
Gaylord Fields:

That could have been better hyphenated (13-year-old). I have a reputation to protect.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:01pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Gaylord: Look at Sarah Silverman as well--gross 13 year old boys are the new trendy 30 something ladies.

is it over?
Ricardo Manitoba:

That song had more dicks in it than a police convention
Gaylord Fields:

@Amanda: None whatsoever, dude. And I say that as someone who was a 13-year-old boy for a few years myself.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03pm
Matt from Springfield:

"Before that was Elvis Costello & The Attractions, singing about...not dicks."
Gaylord Fields:

I love band/song reversals: I would have announced it as "Dr. Feelgood doing 'Roxette,' and not the other way around."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Gaylord: You must be at least 17 now!
I hope to someday "grow up" to at least 13, maybe older!
Dick Schulkind:

Or you can use dick@wfmu.dick

1. "Dancing In My Dick" by Bruce Springsteen
2. "Dancing In My Dicks" by The Supremes
3. "Dancing With My Dick" by Billy Idol
4. "Shadow Dancing With My Dick" by Andy Gibb...
Gaylord Fields:

@Matt fS: I'm a grown-ass man (which is better for my pants fit than being a growing-ass man).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:08pm

Somebody stop him!

"dick gets in your eyes"
Gaylord Fields:

5. "Dicky Dicky," by Richie Barrett
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10pm
Matt from Springfield:

@glenn: Dear GAWD! ;)
@Gaylord: "I Try To Sit Next To You, But My Ass Gets In The Way"
Avatar 1:13pm

"Waltzing Dicktilda". . . . Sorry.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm
Matt from Springfield:

LOL :)

Purple Dick?
Gaylord Fields:

"Does Your Dick Lose Its Flavor on the Bedpost Overnight?"
arefox arefox:

"He Hit Me But It Felt Like a Dick"
Avatar 1:19pm

Gaylord: Hahaha!... Yes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:20pm

Part of the genius of it is that they don't overthink the grammar or how to make "My Dick" fit contextually within each phrase -- ofttimes it seems they are just replacing syllables. It's very casual.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21pm
Matt from Springfield:

Black Joe Lewis with the Soul Distributors!
+5 for the band name.

"Sympathy for My Dick"

Please allow me to introduce my dick
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25pm

Mr. Fields' "hyphen recidivism" quotient just ticked up an increment :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28pm
Future Mashup:

Beat That Dick, Ya'll

dicknam dick

ah I know this - good one!

Cannot believe I missed My Dick. That was the soundtrack to my New Years.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41pm
Matt from Springfield:

Wow, great Clem Snide cover of Nico/VU! Love the arrangement and his voice to go with.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44pm

Hi Eugene! Ah, so you're already familiar... I think everyone gets the idea. Not sure how much more exposure My Dick will get here.

I love it so much though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46pm

What, no My Little Pony jingle?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:47pm
Matt from Springfield:

Finally, a commercial aired on FMU within my living memory!
Normally they skew heavily to the 70s.

Is it sad I remember Puppy Surprise? I think my little brothers had some (they were also really big into Care Bears).

In very late, and loving it. Returning to archives very, very soon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:52pm

@northguineahills -- my little sister had one! Boys in my class loved Care Bears too, which was great until I had Baby Hugs and Baby Tugs stolen from me by a boy.

Hi northguineahills!
Hi SteveL!

Release the Dicks, by Dick Cave and the Bad Dicks. (I know it was the Birthday Party, but that's not as funny).

excellent show Amanda!
Ricardo Manitoba:

Although, The Dicks Next Door is pretty funny, too.

Happy Birthday - my birthday is next week as well

This has been loads of fun, Amanda. Thanks for making radio for us.
