  10:30am Cecile:

Doug, are you familiar with the salsa-rappers Orishas? I think they would be right up your alley...
  10:34am Doug:

Cecile!
Thanks for the tip. (Please, everyone, making suggestions is always delightfully received.) Yes, I have heard Orishas. My nephew Arlo sent me a few tracks last year and I downloaded a nice collection not too long ago. Great to hear that old-time Cuban music being sampled instead of the James Brown/Funkadelic sameoldsameold. Great stuff.
  10:34am Cecile:

Also, this bit of wisdom from the home page for Animal Planet's K9 Cops:

From Officer Pavlak and Chico's profile
"Hi there Amigo, my name is Chico. I bark very loud, because I am so proud of all the bad guys I catch! I am originally from Bulgaria - but don't let that scare ya. If I get to smell ya, I'm a pretty nice fella. I was brought to this great nation by the St Paul K-9 Foundation. Now I use my paws and jaws to help enforce the laws."

Twin Cities in tha house!
  10:35am Cecile:

ITA, Doug, I heard it on Pandora and love it, too.
  10:35am stingy d:

http://www.wfmu.org/playlists/shows/25956
  10:36am Parq:

Orishas is from Cuba, although I think they now live in Spain. Their first disc includes a great track called "537 Cuba", which uses "Chan Chan" as a jumping off point to rip up the Chardonnay crowd that has clasped the BVSC to its bosom.
  10:37am Cecile:

I heard they were living in France.
But cool!!!!! Glad everyone is digging them.
  10:38am Cecile:

no, haven't met knut yet. LOL! stingy.
  10:40am stingy d:
